Technically that doesn't fit the definition of lane splitting here in Kalifornia, which would be a motorcyclist traveling between two or more lanes of slow moving cars heading in the same direction. That idiot was just passing cars into oncoming traffic and hoping that everybody would just get out of his way. He's lucky to be alive. | ||

That's f...ed up, because the guy opening the door obviously did not check his mirror, or he would have seen the bike coming - what happened to share the road? If the door was already open - bikers fault, but just as he's coming - definitely the truckers fault. The question is - where that biker rides is lane sharing legal, or not - that would decide wither his riding actions where appropriate. EZ | ||

When I looked at the video it looks like the truck driver did not intentionally open the door. Looks like the traffic came to a stop and he opened the door to check to see what happened | ||

it matters? When a person, on a motorcycle, does something that stupid they pretty much offer themselves up for whatever consequences may befall them. Debating the intent or motivation of the other parties won't heal the bones or provide much comfort. You are on a motorcycle. You are as exposed as you can be and subject to the most basic laws of physical science. Respect that when you ride and we won't be here trying to decide if some poor sap of a truck driver intended to do something. |
