Ever since the beginning of the year the Ducati newsletter has been promoting the new Monster. Last month they said the National Premier is coming to a dealer near you on April 5th. "It’s sure to be a fun filled day with food, entertainment, and test rides!" Okay, admittedly I had to work yesterday morning and didn't get there until almost 2PM, but there wasn't even an indication of any of that stuff ever going on. I walk inside and say I'm here for the Monster event, they point to the bike on the floor and say "there it is". Humph, no food, no entertainment, no fun, how do they expect to stir up any interest like that? Did anyone have more excitement at their dealer? |

If the bike itself does not stir up interest, food and entertainment won't either. |

I worked for the local Ducati/Triumph dealer while they were still around. We always ran the events for those brands, but it was always the same guys showing up for free food, the free hat or tee, the gear giveaway, and free ride. Rarely, if ever, did somebody actually buy something of note. Holding an event for dozens of people to sell one or two bikes was a bit much. I didn't much see the sense in it myself. |

Jon, that only works if you're selling stretched Hayabusas & Gixxers . |
