It is ironic that Fearless Leader decries Balkanization which he is a master of.

Obama tells Europe that conservatism is coupled to Putin

excerpt: President Barack Obama used his set-piece speech in Europe on Wednesday to couple Vladimir Putin’s crudely nationalist takeover of Crimea with the increasingly popular opposition to his big-government, progressive agenda.

“Casual indifference [to President Vladimir Putin's attack on Crimea]… would allow the old way of doing things to regain a foothold in this young century,” he declared.

Progressive “ideals have often been threatened by an older, more traditional view of power… Often this alternative vision roots itself in the notion that by virtue of race or faith or ethnicity, some are inherently superior to others and that individual identity must be defined by us versus them,” he claimed.

Our pResident is an utter embarrassment. ONE person clapped after Big O gave his uninspiring speech. The man looks tired, more like a deer with the headlights in its face, and completely unfit for the job that he was elected to do. He has the same look on his face as he had during the second debate with Romney. This is a rare glimpse into the real man.

Even the most ardent defenders of Obama can see that he is beaten down, right?

Obama: Well That's Embarrassing, No One Clapped 3/25/2014

After President Barack Obama concluded his Tuesday [correction: Wednesday] presser at the Nuclear Security Summit in The Hague, Netherlands, an awkward silence ensued. Some rustling could be heard as people began to leave, but only one person attempted — and failed — to begin a slow clap.

Obama nodded to Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte and ending with a simple, “OK.”

The European trip has already been plagued with controversy after The Guardian reported on the president’s 900-person entourage, costing the Belgian government more than $10 million for his 24 hours in Brussels. Three secret service agents were also sent home after a night of drinking in Amsterdam, reports The Washington Post.

The good news is . . . . none of the real leaders in the world are paying a damn bit of attention to him.

He's a kid from Chicago who, through a series of social and cultural anomalies, stumbled into office.

He's got neither the balls nor the brains to lead.

He speaks well most the time.

You make a good point . . . I recall the time his telepromter went on the fritz . . . he went from eloquent to foolish in a nanosecond.

But . . . I'm willing to give him a bit of slack on that one. From some of the speaking I have done, I know what happens when you have to deal with a "surprise".

Sounds weird but when I am speaking . . .(and I have one coming up in a large venue to 5,000 folks in May) I will get the ENTIRE thing on paper and practice it as least 50 times, recording (Thanks ProTools) it each time and listening and learning. I may make small changes but preparation, for the causal and infrequent speaker like myself, is key. I fall victim to the most common malady and that's getting nervous and talking fast. Practice is the only way for me to nail the delivery.

Some folks, Erik Buell among them, have what seems an innate ability and I envy them.

http://news.yahoo.com/mistrust-overshadows-obamas- saudi-trip-055623617.html

First.... when you get a rep as a lying %^&$ then it should come as no surprise that trust is a problem. Obama has that rep internationally now.

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2014/mar/27/ob ama-meets-pope-francis-vatican/

Let me get this straight... the Freaking Pope's minions say Obama lies? ( much more politely, of course. The Vatican understands diplomacy. Barry obviously does not )

In the area of social libertarianism, occasionally the O's stated views and my beliefs match up. For almost a minute at a time. I'm pro - gay - legal unions. Barack said he was, to get elected President, then did nothing at all. I'm good with gay marriage, and Obama said he was too, to get re-elected, and has done nothing at all....after 5 years in office, to solve the legal union issue he was in favor of in 2007.

So I can say I agreed with Obama, a couple of times, and that he lied both times. Awesome!

OTOH I'm all for religious freedom, and Barack is not. I disagree with the views of the Catholic Church on MANY things, including birth control. But that doesn't mean I would force the Catholic Church to provide birth control against their Church Policy. Barack HAS. ( and lied about it multiple times )

( it's not afaik an actual religious prohibition, like eating shellfish. It's a practical solution to the problem of being out reproduced. Can't win elections or wars if the other guys have more votes or soldiers, all else being equal. )

Actually it's not a surprise that Obama gets along with the Saudis. Religiously intolerant, check. In favor of limiting US oil exploration, check. High unemployment with unrealistic welfare state, check. System about to collapse under the weight of it's unrealistic welfare state, check.

If Barack was trustworthy, they'd love him.
( I wonder if anyone there remembered he's apostate? )

Talking to crowds and senior leaders;
go in with no more than 10 3x5 cards - write only bullet main topics; anticipate the hard questions - answer the softballs yourself in your presentation and keep the damn thing under 15 minutes.... and never turn the lights off to do a power point - you will sleeping attendees - and quickly.

if all you are going to do is read the teleprompter... send in Maxx Headroom to do it.

You're a very good public speaker, aside from the cavalier exhibitionism.

Thought of you when I suffered my own scene the other day at work. The lead design engineer scratched out a note covertly showing it to me, kinda like when a poker player peaks at his cards, "your zipper is open" it said. The group, all seated, looked on in paralyzed horror as I proceeded, hands in pockets, with an ad lib talking fly ventriloquist presentation. I just hope that wasn't the reason for the young lady, designer/drafter, taking a tumble down the stairs later that day.

>>>>You're a very good public speaker, aside from the cavalier exhibitionism.

That moment, fortunately captured on film in 2000, was a classic and always reminds me that . . . . if your "show" is drawing more attention than your "tell" . . .well . . .

My other trick . . . . I guess I could call it a trick . . . is to visit the venue ahead of time, walk the back stage, walk the entire venue, look at the stage from various angles and "know" the place. I don't want any surprises or distractions. I did this when I did the Buell presentation at the Cow Palace and that required more attention to detail as I was "arriving" on stage riding an S1. There have been, two that I am well aware of, "riding onto the stage" arrivals that went terribly wrong in the world of Harley-Davidson.

I've also found that it's disconcerting, if you're not ready, to hear yourself on a large sound system. It can, if you are not prepared, really throw your timing off.

My other personal quirk is "take your time starting". Years ago I was less comfortable with silence and felt compelled (the NFL Players Banquet I did with Christian Okoye was a great example) to start taking the moment I arrive at the podium. Now . . . I take my time . . gather my thoughts . . . organize my crud and use the silence to my advantage. It also get the "audience" prepared to listen.

Fun stuff . . . and I suspect I'll never stop being nervous. This next crowd is going to be a tough one.

:-)

http://nypost.com/2014/03/30/chickens-come-home-to -roost-for-obama/

Today’s quiz: What do Vladimir Putin’s aggression and ObamaCare’s troubles have in common? OK, that was too easy.

It is impossible to dismiss as mere coincidence the Russian Bear’s invasion of Ukraine and the continuing mayhem of the Affordable Care Act. In their own ways, each reflects the full flowering of the policies of Barack Obama.

His chickens are coming home to roost, and what a mess they are making.

Obama’s sixth year in the White House is shaping up as his worst, and that’s saying something. He’s been in the Oval Office so long that it is obscene to blame his problems on George W. Bush, the weather or racism. Obama owns the world he made, or more accurately, the world he tried to remake.

Nothing important has worked as promised, and there is every reason to believe the worst is yet to come. The president’s casual remark the other day that he worries about “a nuclear weapon going off in Manhattan” inadvertently reflected the fear millions of Americans have about his leadership. Not necessarily about a bomb, but about where he is taking the country.

We are racing downhill and he is stepping on the gas. Will he stop before the nation crashes?

Ideologues love to dream, and some do it eloquently. Robert Kennedy famously said: “There are those who look at things the way they are, and ask why . . . I dream of things that never were, and ask why not?”

Mario Cuomo, no slouch at dreaming, nonetheless offered a caveat, saying, “You campaign in poetry, you govern in prose.”

Obama hasn’t figured out the difference. Even more alarming, he shows no signs of trying to learn. In the ways of the world, he remains a know-it-all rookie.

The view from his faculty lounge has no space for reality. Anything that doesn’t fit the grand plan is dismissed as illegitimate. So while global hot spots multiply and the world grows dangerously unstable, the president still plans to slash the military.

His trip abroad last week further secured his reputation for historic ineptitude. It wasn’t that the trip was a disaster — it never rose to that level. His presence and his promises simply made no difference.

He failed to move the European Union toward a firmer stance on Russia, created bizarre headlines by differing with the Vatican over what he and the pope discussed, and got not-so-veiled threats from the Saudis about Syria and Iran.

He could have stayed home and not done worse.

No president can win ’em all, but Obama’s foreign-policy record is unblemished by success. From east to west and north to south, America’s standing and influence have declined universally.

It is impossible for a US president to be irrelevant, but Obama is testing the proposition.

The frequent reports that Putin laughs when Obama warns of consequences can’t be far from the truth. Otherwise, Putin would be cautious instead of carving up neighbors and massing his military. It was also noteworthy that, after their Friday phone talk, Putin copied the Vatican and put out his own version of the discussion. Two can play the spin game, he seemed to be saying.

ObamaCare is the domestic expression of the president’s ineptitude. The law that was supposed to fix health care has become a problem for millions, and now enjoys mere 26 percent approval, a poll finds. It is proving so unworkable that the White House has given up defending it as written and instead simply changes key provisions when they prove impossible to implement or politically inconvenient.

Change No. 38 came when officials extended the March 31 deadline for signing up. Never mind that those same officials said recently there would be no extension, and that the law wouldn’t allow it.

Presto — the limits on his power are moot because the president says so. Meanwhile, aides claim they don’t know how many of the 6 million who enrolled actually paid for insurance.

A Caesar at home and a Chamberlain abroad, Obama manages to simultaneously provoke fury and ridicule. He bullies critics here while shrinking from adversaries there.

He divides the country and unites the world against us, diminishing the nation in both ways. His reign of error can’t end soon enough, nor can it end well.

The Brief and Frightening Reign of Phil [George Saunders] (its a quick primer on this president - worth the read)

that little book - is entirely too prophetic, we are seeing the last chapter now - where the two giants that walk in circles at divergent angles are about to teach the playground bully a lesson; unfortunately - we get the consequences.

from the spam mail....
'Hello everyone,

Last night, the first open enrollment period under the Affordable Care Act came to an end.

And this afternoon, we announced that 7.1 million Americans have now signed up for private insurance plans through the new Health Insurance Marketplaces.

7.1 million.

That doesn't count the more than 3 million young adults who have gained insurance under this law by staying on their families' plans. It doesn't count the millions more who have gotten covered through the expansion of Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program. It doesn't include the more than 100 million folks who now have better care -- who are receiving additional benefits, like mammograms and contraceptive care, at no extra cost.

Now, millions of our fellow Americans have the comfort and peace of mind that comes with knowing they're no longer leaving their health and well-being to chance. For many of them, quality health insurance wasn't an option until this year -- maybe because they couldn't afford it, or because a pre-existing condition kept them locked out of a discriminatory system.

Today, that's changed. And while our long-broken health care system may not be completely fixed, it's without question a lot better. That's something to be proud of -- and there's no good reason to go back.

Regardless of your politics, or your feelings about the Affordable Care Act, millions more Americans with health coverage is something that's good for our economy and our country.

At the end of the day, that is what this law -- and the other reforms we're fighting for, from a 21st-century immigration system to a fairer wage for every American who's willing to work for it -- are all about:

Making sure our country lives up to our highest ideals.

I am thankful to be your President today, and every day. And I am proud that this law will continue to make life better for millions of Americans in the years to come.

Thank you.

President Barack Obama'

I cant believe the lies coming out of this office in the name of 'news' .....

ps - if you haven't paid premium.... you don't have insurance.....

Even accepting the 7.1 million number, it's telling that they aren't breaking it down by age. It's still critical to get younger folks enrolling to make the numbers work. DOB is part of the data collected at the time of sign up, so it's a very simple task to get that break down by age. Yet for months now we have been told that they don't have that information available. I find it inconceivable that they don't know the age breakdown at this point. If it looked good, they would be proudly telling us. Instead they are keeping that information from us. Telling indeed.

More like "not" telling

I'm going to be interested to watch what happens when that risk pool actuarial calculation is adjusted to reflect the fact that there are very few young, healthy folks (I'm guessing since this number, if we are believe the jesters in the white house, are not available) in the program.

They have guaranteed the insurers that they will make them whole. That could mean BILLIONS in government subsidies to insurance companies.

Once the corporate mandate . . . unless it becomes the 28th thing the big o delays . . kicks in . . . all hell will break loose.

But . . . the optimist in me is eager for that promised $2,500 savings. . . . . I haven't seen it yet.

They had a goal of 7M enrollees, right? But what was the purpose of the goal? To increase the number of Americans with health insurance, right? So they wanted 7M enrollees so they could have 7M New citizens with healthcare. But 6M of those are people that originally had employer paid healthcare that was canceled and were forced to go into the exchange. In other words, they really only have 1M new Enrollees and haven't done much of anything to increase the number of insured overall. Wasn't that the goal?

I work in banking and the basic metric that is tracked is active accounts. You can look at account activations all day long and it doesn't tell you anything because you are losing accounts through attrition on the back end. If you activate 1000 accounts on the front end but lose 1000 accounts on the back end, you have accomplished nothing but incur the costs of adding the new accounts. This is what is going on with healthcare. We are incurring billions in cost without making any dent on the number of uninsured.

But lets just keep counting the enrollees and ignoring those losing their insurance on the back end.

I agree with most of that, but you have a glaring error that makes your assessment far too optimistic. The 6 million you reference that have lost their insurance at this point, for the most part have not been the ones that will be hit by the employer mandate. The employer mandate has been stalled, I think it's twice now, both times to push it back past an election cycle. I've heard it theorized that nobody in their right mind is going to be responsible for actually letting the employer mandate take effect. Reason being, that will be when those with insurance provided by their employers really get thrown into the meat grinder and lose their insurance. Of course, the employer mandate is one of the pillars of ObamaDontCare necessary to fund the thing. At some point you have to come to grips with the simple fact that things necessary to fund this beast just isn't happening. Supporters of this of course are hoping that by the time the lack of funding becomes as obvious as the sun setting in the evening that they will be unwilling to give up their new found teat.

Even the 1 million new enrollee numbers you mention is probably inflated though. It seems to be guesstimated that only about 80% of those will actually pay the first months premium. Even fewer will be enrolled by the third month. It's looking entirely likely that this whole fiasco will only put a few hundred thousand into insurance for the first time. Of course, even at that point you have to realize that there have always been new people who have gotten their own insurance for the first time in their lives. I have no clue what estimates there may be about what numbers have historically been involved there, but it needs to be backed out too.

Administration estimates are about 193 million MORE people will lose their insurance when the mandate is finally applied.

Works out to 2/3 of all Americans. They knew this and lied. And still are lying.

So far it looks like 10 million plus have lost their insurance so we have a net loss of about 3-4 million.

Some people do have insurance today that did not before.

One practice of dishonest men is to include a tiny bit of fact in the lie so they can point to it and discredit honest men who point out the lies.
The ploy today is "you can't take this away you evil racist........"

Sorry to be Captain Obvious here. Obamacare was designed to fail in the first place so that Socialized Medicine would be demanded. It is nothing more than forced redistribution of wealth from the Middle Class. In November, VOTE for anyone who opposes Obamacare. With a majority in the House and the Senate, the People can impeach Obama AND convict him. The crimes of this pResident are approaching legion.

And lo, it came to pass that Hilary (as President) invoked the failure of the ACA & pushed through an extension of Medicare for all Americans over the age of 18. (kids will be covered by Federally funded Medicaid)
CMS were given the role of "policing" Medicare to ensure fraud was minimized.
Many physicians quit in disgust at receiving only what the Fed's want to pay them and treatment became "needs based".
And there was much wailing in the land.

Taxes rose alongside the promise that you, as an American will get more in your pocket through the savings in health care insurance payments. (Some chance of that?)
And thus America finally offered coverage to all of its citizens (Oh, and non-citizens)
And there was much disquiet amongst the health insurers who found ways of providing coverage outside of Medicare...
As it is written, so shall it be....

The reason they are not releasing age break down .....
You have dead people on the dole that are 'enrolled'

Wait and see
Watch and Learn

and gee
FIFTYS

ANY insurance company that does 'enrollment' has that break down at their fingertips - it is like saying Harley doesn't know how many black bikes were built/ sold/ financed last year.
It is simply impossible.

and a blatant bold faced f*cking LIE.

(why candy coat it?)

PS - never confuse 'shopped' 'enrolled' and "PAID" - no premium - no policy - it isn't a valid number

these books are cooked more than yesterdays left over tongue stew.
