If Putin did not send any troops at all... there would not have been a vote. Putin is a un-intelligent man, having a mid life crisis.

Do you believe you speak for many American's?
Hell no. I speak for me. And I can barely do that!

Simply.... 97 % of anything in a vote gives me cause to doubt.

Gagnon is known to me. I wouldn't say he was Lord Haw Haw.... ( unless you want to count much of western media such ) but I can predict his spin.

Xdigitalx. While I get your attitude on enough is enough.....I don't think anything you would want is going to happen. The O admin is simply incapable of dealing with Russia as equals.

Not because of American arrogance but because the O & minions thought processes in some ways mirror Rocket's preferred links in the inbred hatred of western republics. Note I do not accuse Rocket of such hate just a preference for and influenced by that viewpoint.

The real problem is how the O will react. Putin now is simple to predict. He's on a roll and is confident he's playing with delusional children. He'll push and win.

Obama otoh is scary. He's no dove and he's also not informed on military reality.

I don't know how much his minions are running policy here and it doesn't matter in that the different cliches are uniformly schmiberal. ( of unrealistic world view utopian left )

A dove would back down & bluster. Then if really backed in a corner .... freak & over react. Lotta doves in this regime.

Hawk would react early & with enough force to either stop the war or kick it off big. Depending on the smarts.

O is neither and more ego driven than is good for the planet.....imho. I have no clue what really bad thing he will do. Bluster & ineffective face moves are ongoing and predictable...... but for how long?

Rocket ....re: us politicians John McCain. Do not like or agree with.

Did you read the above links?

There are no reports that show Russia mobilising large scale military across the border into Crimea pre or post referendum.

I understand it's tough to find a plane in an ocean, but not a large scale military land mobilisation. Pray tell, where are the video's from the US drones operated out of RAF Coningsby (not 30 miles from where I live) which show this mass movement of Russia's army into Crimea?

Could it be there was little resistance, as reported by some media, where Russian military already in Crimea got the job done without bloodshed or death of one single Ukrainian soldier. This has to be the most peaceful invasion of a sovereign country in history. Could it be that it wasn't an invasion after all? No surely not. America could not be wrong.

Simply.... 97 % of anything in a vote gives me cause to doubt.

By western standards I'd agree given what we have as politicians.

Just goes to show how well embraced Putin and mother Russia was in all this. Perhaps that's because the people of Crimea on the whole knew they were being coerced by western influence keen to see Ukraine in the EU. As I've said all along, Russia was never going to give up it's Black Sea base or its military presence surrounding it throughout the Crimean region. The people of Crimea knew this more than anyone. The greater reality to them was they could see the writing on the wall where the rest of Ukraine was concerned. To the people of Crimea, there was likely only ever going to be the one outcome. The one they chose.

It does not take a person of much logic and even just a tad of common sense to recognise this conundrum, which doesn't quite fit comfortably with an opposing superpower not being able to recognise such. No one in the right mind would expect Crimea to come under EU regulation and join NATO. Even a blind man could see such.

I haven't seen helicopters involved. As for Russian military movement, we have seen a few trucks and the odd tank moving around. One tank smashed through a wall this weekend. Another through a gate. According to biased news reports one would believe a whole battalion were on the move / attack.

You know what's ironically funny. The Ukrainians (said to be national guard?) who seized the 50 brand new Kamaz trucks from the manufacturers plant, is by far the largest movement of vehicles seen on the move. Next would be the convoy of 30 or so trucks mobilised with multinationals from the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). We've yet to see any evidence of a Russian en masse movement of military. Never mind an invasion force!

You keep banging on about this.

It wasn't Putin's election. It was an election conducted by the authorities in charge of Crimea.

Further more. It was a referendum conducted under the watchful eye of international observers - non of whom reported any funny stuff.

Now I understand your president and my PM have labelled this referendum illegal under international law, but the results stand for themselves whether illegal or not. The people voted, in their millions. They voted a 84% feck of to the US, UK, and EU. Surely you get that?

Look at it another way. Let's agree the referendum was illegal. Are there several million Crimeans screaming out for western help. NO NOT AT ALL. So what business is it for the west to go poking their nose in when the people of Crimea have spoken at the ballot box to go Rusky? What business at all? If you can answer such truthfully.........

Well said Rocket old chap : )

Crimea is Russian - always has been (since 1748 anyway) and always will be. A bearucratic mistake by Kruschev in 1964 is why it ended up being in Crimea and it never should have been. At leaast now the ridiculous anomaly of 25000 Russian troops being stationed in a 'foreign' country has been sorted out (at least until kaliningrad or Trans Dnieper start rocking the boat!).
We should have just stayed out of Ukrainian domestic policy making in the first pace and none of this would have happened : (

Then why the need for the "referendum" in the first place? This sounds like a statement from one of Rocket's news sources.

And of course Russia wasn't moving troops into Crimea. There were just troops appearing in uniforms that lacked any identifying insignia. They certainly weren't Russian though.

"indoctrinated lied to American superpower citizenship"

You're wrong about this. Most of us don't care if Crimea was taken over by Ethiopia. And the only reason the posters on this thread object to you is because it gives them more reason to bitch about Obama, finding him weak in the face of Putin. Truth is Obama knows this is no reason for us to get our panties in a bunch. He offers some sanctions to formally object to the "illegal" takeover of Crimea when in fact the government of Ukraine was illegally thrown out by a coup.

Are there several million Crimeans screaming out for western help. NO NOT AT ALL.

How would I know that? because RT tells us there are no protests? Heck CNN doesn't tell us there are protests in Venezuela.

I want to know what's going on. If I find your preferred news source questionable, that is because I am ignorant of the sea change in Russia. I keep expecting the same old same old, which for almost a century was blatant dishonesty, oppression, mass murder, aggressive Imperialism, ( not the wimpy George Bush kind.... where you give back the territory conquered ) and propaganda "all channels all net. Do you want to know more?" The current regime seems to have backed off the mass murder part, which is good, a positive direction, and I am aware that after decades of collectivist failure the only part of the economy that was ready for free markets was the Mob. Most western folk not in close proximity have no idea what's going on in Russia, since it's not news to a leftist press that leftism fails.

But I too am ignorant of today's Russia, so I ask. Has Russia reached a level of enlightenment where protests are peaceful, the government listens to the protests, and solves the problems that inspired them? If so, they are doing way better than we are.

Full equal rights, and freedom of speech? that band that keeps going to jail, performance art? ( I have no idea why pussypower or whoever, goes to jail.... public lewdness? Meat dresses? Too much like Lady Gaga? )_

So I ask.

If you presented me with Pravda in the 1960's as factual and realistic, I'd mock you. In Pravda there is no Izvestia, In Izvestia there is no Pravda.

If you said "here's the Russian slant" and then posted BBC with "here's the EU slant" then you'd get more respect, from me, anyway.

Mea Culpa...
I don't always note the slant on stuff I post, since I assume ( wrongly ) that if it's from National Review you know it's Conservative. While MSNBC is neo-commie, and NPR is left of Engels.

M1combat, the snipers were, according to the Russians, Blackwater mercs, presumably working for Monsanto... ( yeah, I know Blackwater has a new name ) I missed the Russian explanation why Monsanto wanted to overthrow the Ukraine regime.

Maybe it's a Genmod food issue? or there's some Monsanto/EU connection that this running dog lackey missed in his titanic ignorance of world events, but that's what RT news says.

I just assumed it was agents of the former regime, but I based that on the western press, and they sure aren't a reliable source. And don't that suck?

Hey, quick question. In the US, who is "right wing" anymore? Muslims? I'm a counter-revolutionary radical centrist. ( social libertarian hawk realist too... try finding a candidate that agrees with that! )

Patrick, I have posted news reports from many different sources. I have also, only yesterday in fact, posted links to Voice of America and Voice of Russia broadcasts.

I don't see the point in posting bullshit propaganda news. The BBC is full of it. In fact, ITV and Sky are not far behind.

As for RT, the one thing you should consider is most of there reporters are American's. Are you now going to tell me they'd say anything for the wage packet?

Another point about RT News. They are prepared to have interviews and commentary from learned scholars who study politics, religion, war, economics, whatever, and in particular, scholars with specific understandings of the toing and froing of the situation.

If you choose not to believe the news you see, of that which I post, I can't help you. You will only believe what you want to believe, where as I believe what I see to be fact. See, unlike patriotic American's who believe Russia is the enemy at the gates, us Brit's are patriots in a completely different way. We fight for right and wrong over here. And if we're wrong we will let the bastardios in the big power house know.
