That's the rub Brian, we need to understand insurance for what it is, which is legal gambling.

And that's not to say that is a bad thing... its a way to manage the impact of less likely but majorly bad things if they do happen. I choose to do it in some areas but not in others (where I can live with the bad thing).

Without having to read back through all of this, I have one question:

Has anybody on BadWeB successfully signed up and paid for coverage through the government web site?

My aunt and uncle have,... they pay about 40.00 a month. (senior citizens) I used turbo tax and they ask if you have healthcare,.. if you don't before you file they send you to another marketplace site to get it. (not healthcare.gov) They have regular healthcare providers, (amerihelth etc etc) if you don't like those there is a link to get to the gov site.

All I did was choose a medium type coverage and it wants you to project what you will make for the coming year, I put 30k. The average cost ended up to be about 250 a month with 2k deductible.

I will reluctantly have to sign up if I want healthcare... my former employer hired me as a IC, I will need liability and personal for working part time... I predict its gonna eat my pay bigtime.

I guess once we all get used to being told what to do ... it will be easier for the government to herd us all.

When I finished my taxes with Turbotax, I did the same thing, I 'comparison shopped' healthcare.gov, estimated my taxable income for 2014 ($2,000 Really.) and the gov't sight said I didn't qualify and immediately bumped me off. The Turbotax-linked marketplace site was Ehealth.com, cheapest was a bronze place, for me & the ol' lady was $720/month, 10K each deductible, so, 19K/year before any benefit? No thanks.

ever get those term life insurance quotes about how your policy; if you are a 40 yo, married, non smoker - you could qualify for a policy for 250,000 for less than 25 a month ?
......

now ask yourself why 'health' insurance for the cost incursion of thousands less per year - is to a factor of at least 10 more expensive....

Insurance is not taught in schools. And as evident by how this thing was pushed, and what 'Legislators' call "insurance" - I do not think that there is a better understanding of it now for the populace at large.

And if any of you have tackled the bill, and know insurance - you know there is nothing in the bill except entitlement and funds transfer;
It is a house of cards built on smoke and mirrors.
When the insurance subsidies collapse in two 1/2 years - so do the 'market places' - just as the housing market did.
exactly as the housing market did.

To answer Pwnzor's question: No, I have not even tried to sign up. I'm not a believer in the "O" and don't want any hand-outs nor do I feel the need to forcibly subsidize others. I've got enough hands in my pockets taking my money. After a divorce and a crappy economy, I took a major hit. I'm still digging out from under this rock the government helped placed on my head only to find more rocks in the form of taxes, regulations and rights being threatened.

Who benefits from the change? The low-income families who qualify for these subsidies, as well as the White House and insurance companies.

Mostly the White House and Insurance Companies that Bribed Obama. It's good to be King. Pull!

I confess to being mildly entertained . . . as the big o preps for his next web-cast interview . . . that The White House swears they keep no numbers on how many have signed up and paid (as in actually HAVE insurance) under the new obamacare plan.

Now that the 6,000,000+ who lost insurance as a direct result of obamacare have been granted a special "hardship" exemption it appears The White House is slowly repealing it's own plan.

15,000 new IRS agents and 25,000 fewer doctors . . . sounds like a doozy of a "health" plan.

New Higher 'insurance rates'
Doctors Leaving Practice
Companies Limiting Hours
Companies Limiting Full Time Positions
Companies looking to increase their outsourced foot print
New Tax Enforcement
New Medical 'scrutiny' for cures, drugs, transplants and continuing long term care (aka death panels)
And even though you have 'signed up'... your 'coverage' is NOT accepted....

Who could ever have known such a mess would occur : ?/

Pretty bold talk from a guy who spends 10 million dollars of other people's money for his weekend golf game.

Let's discuss Income Inequality. How about Barry skips half his golf games next year and uses that money to pay the premiums for some poor people?

He won't. He has never in his life had that thought.

( and it wouldn't cost him a dime, it's your money, not his. )

O-Care premiums to skyrocket

By Elise Viebeck . TheHill.com March 19, 2014, 06:00 am

excerpt:

quote:

Health industry officials say ObamaCare-related premiums will double in some parts of the country, countering claims recently made by the administration.

The expected rate hikes will be announced in the coming months amid an intense election year, when control of the Senate is up for grabs. The sticker shock would likely bolster the GOP’s prospects in November and hamper ObamaCare insurance enrollment efforts in 2015.

The industry complaints come less than a week after Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius sought to downplay concerns about rising premiums in the healthcare sector. She told lawmakers rates would increase in 2015 but grow more slowly than in the past.

“The increases are far less significant than what they were prior to the Affordable Care Act,” the secretary said in testimony before the House Ways and Means Committee.

Her comment baffled insurance officials, who said it runs counter to the industry’s consensus about next year.

Buellkowski banged the drum that Obamacare was better than mothers milk on the first page of this thread back in October. He has been strangely silent since the most Exalted Wonderful gave us his gift from Above. How do you like it so far? Did you sign up? Did your premiums go down $2500? Did you get to keep your doctor?

Are YOU ready to vote out of office anyone who voted for Obamacare without reading the bill?

So,. If I only make less than 25k a yr why would my insurance quotes be 400-550 a month? + 2k deductible and 30.00 copays for doc visits. WTF. That tooo effing HIGH!
How much should I pay?? Should I let all my other bills go and file bankruptcy just for Obamaefingcare? There has to be cheaper decent insurance for 150-250 a month... I mean that's about what I can afford... but I still probably wont have the money for copays after that so WTF. I guess we all have to join the "spending money we don't have" club... like the Fed Gov??

Get rid of my phone, car (lease) all credit cards (that took me years to gain a mediocre credit rating) and re-focus my priorities to get good healthcare.

FYYFF's!

Obamacare is Socialism intentionally designed to decimate the Middle Class. Only the Middle Class can be stolen from to give to the Lower Class. There simply aren't enough Upper Class to steal from and they are protected by the Crony Capitalists or the Crony Socialists (your pick). Your higher health care premiums means that you have less disposable income so say goodbye to the house, appliances, and boats that you might have planned on getting. And you have Obama, Liberals, and Progressives to thank for that.

As a result of this fiasco, in January we all got letters explaining that we get to keep our plans at double the rate.

I went to the urgent care facility on Sunday, and it cost me $70 out of pocket for what used to be a $20 copay and $4 prescription.

$24 x 2 = $48 (WTF IS UP WITH $40 + $30???)

Thank you, Mr. pResident.

That would be the "affordable" part.

How many times have supporters of this POS said that the Republicans don't have a plan to fix this mess? It's time to stop them in their tracks with that line of reasoning. It's their freaking mess, passes without input from the Republicans. How come they don't have a fix for their own freaking mess? Seriously!!! Repeal is a fix at this point.

Can we just tell the folks that just got healthcare..."some for the very first time" that they (government) made a mistake and their free/cheap healthcare will be removed/postponed until further notice? Like... until there is a new plan put in place? They didn't have it before, so they should not mind another year or so without it (I know I won't)

The new plans WILL be better. P E R I O D! (it worked before)
