Barry was born in Hawaii. The piddling details like parentage are none of our business and not relevant. That Barry's publisher pimped him as Kenyan born is only more evidence that lies are his MO. Not that he was born foreign. The Marine in durance vile deserves trouble if he threatened violence against the President. If he did not then his persecutors deserve prison. I have not served in the military, it stands to reason if you vent anti govt speech while on active duty, you would be subject to punishment, just like if you threatened the clown prince of stupid..., If out and no threats were made some one crossed the line, my point earlier, the lefties are trying to clamp down on dissent in this country like putting a "minder" at Fox neither passes the sniff test... Reins comments about 1938 are more telling than some realize. think about it Wreck the economy weaken the military destroy the country's morals disarm the populace quash all dissent indenture the majority to the government destroy our alliances dismantle our nuclear weapons. put in place a means to perpetuate and justify the need to remain in control. end the republic | ||

I have seen it, Note D'souza was arrested for alleged campaign finance violations. this also does not pass the sniff test. perhaps the mid term elections will place enough responsible public servants in the house and senate that barry and joey can be removed from office. those violations are numerous and clear, hell just think of the money saved not paying for moochelles vaca's | ||

When my son bought it home & I checked his homework I made him do it again 'cause I was sure it was the most ridiculous method for calculating a sum I had ever seen. However republicans are balking because of the loss of jobs in their respective states. They constantly attacked the stimulus package including aid to the US auto industry on the grounds that it was socialism. So what's the difference? Looks like they will pick and choose the socialistic policies that suit them. | ||

I'm OK with teaching that subtraction method as an alternate and acceptable approach... it isn't bad. But it shouldn't be taught as the only or the best approach. | ||

In case people havent figured out what it is doing... I think I can guess it. 1) Add what is necessary to the subtractor to bring it up to an even 5 multiple 2) Add what is necessary to bring it up to the next 10 multiple 3) Add what is necessary to bring it up to the nearest 10 multiple below the other number 4) Add what is necessary to match the other number. 5) Sum the things you added I'd have skipped step 1 and gone straight to 10's in step 2. And I presume there is a 100's and 1000's step to be added as well. I like it in that it decomposes the subtraction operation into a series of predictable and really simple. I don't like it in that it scales really poorly. If you do the "subtract and borrow" operation like we learned as kids, things don't get worse as the numbers get bigger. At least not exponentially worse. With this approach it gets easy to get lost in the weeds if you were doing 1,000,000 minus 997,213,651 or something. Sorry, having a math geek / programmer geek moment here. I'll stop. (deriving equations will make the liberals nervous anyway... 1 + 1 can't equal 2 if 2 is unjust, unfair, or disadvantaged. We just have to wish hard enough and lobby hard enough and it will become 3. God help us if we then have to build an airplane though...) | ||

Thanks for the confirmation Britchri10. I was afraid it was real. I showed it to my wife. She called BS on me until I pointed out it was confirmed to be real. She then managed to work out what was being done. It's pretty much what Reepicheep said. Then I pointed out that the first step is to solve for "12+x=15". According to the algebra that I suck at so much, the proper equation for that is "15-12=x". So am I expected to do common core math to solve that equation, or can I just do old fashioned math on the intermediate steps? The computer programmer in me understands that this sort of thinking creates an infinite set of equations that are necessary to solve a simple equation. Somewhere you have to jump to a straight forward means of subtraction to make it work. So if you have to do that anyways...? BTW, regarding the troll, I really enjoyed when he was explaining to Aesquire about this being just a battle of wits. I disagree with Aesquire, but I fully recognize him to be a very intelligent, sharp witted individual. The troll... Not so much. Political cartoons are a form of trolling??? | ||

Sifo we don't disagree on everything! I do admit to playing with Polly for laughs. He did politely answer my last question to him and I politely with some snark thanked him. He snarked back.... and did ok. I think we all now know his MO and viewpoint. He has the same bias as many in this horrid age, Government good. America bad. This will change with the seasons. If Mitt were Prez.... he'd be anti government until the next leftist took power. Me....I don't trust D.C. no matter who seems to be running things.
