Some of you may know, Jim Nance,
I got word today from UlyWife.

That Jim's teen age son was killed in a house fire,

Jim's Ex wife and her spouse are in the local burn center from the fire.
As of this AM Jim is on his way there.

Prayers and condolences to Jim and his family in this time

Oh my God, this is really terrible news.

I can't imagine what it's like to lose a child.

Our family will be praying hard over this.

God, please grant Jim the strength to see the way through this horrifying trial.

Jim is now in Texas with his daughter, TJ. She's had a rough day, as she is the next of kin for her mom and brother. Jim says she had to handle all the tough adult stuff today. Please say an extra prayer for TJ. That's more than any 19 year old should have to deal with. Jim is very proud of her.

Amanda should arrive in the next few hours to be with Jim and TJ. I will keep everyone posted as I know more.

Thanks for all the prayers.

Thoughts and prayers headed their way, especially for TJ. Agreed, that is a LOT to shoulder. Please make sure she knows how much support is out here for her, even if she never meets any of us or calls in any help. Sometimes, just the concept that 'people care' and 'people understand' is enough to help out.

And of course, a sincere Rest In Peace for Jim's son. Godspeed, sir.

So hard to understand how something like this could happen in this age.

Guess it can't hurt for ALL of us to check the expiration date on our smoke detectors and make sure they have good batteries in them. You never know when you'll need it.

Along those lines, make sure there's an appropriate extinguisher everywhere one's needed, and that it's up to date as well. At the very least, make sure there are enough to "clear a path" to an exit for everyone in the household.

I keep my .38 at my bedside...but admittedly the nearest extinguisher is down a floor, AWAY from the nearest exit, next to my clothes dryer. Another is three more steps away from the exit, in my kitchen. I should address that.

This is not to belittle what has happened, it is awful...but hopefully it can help to avoid a repeat, without any judgement or speculation.

Thanks for the update Kristi

Rat good idea, I recently had a fireplace event, annoying to wake up at 4:00am to a smoke filled home and the alarms screaming,

You and Hugh are right its worth the time and trouble to check or install alarms and a fire extinguisher,

Jim our thoughts and prayers are with you and TJ this evening.

Jim Bryant...

Jim and Amanda should be coming home Friday. The only update I have is that Les (Lisa's husband) has been released and that Lisa (ex-wife) is still being sedated.

The house was a total loss. They will have to start over from the ground up. Please continue to pray for this entire family.

Amanda text me last night. They are going to wait and have a memorial service for Jesse once Lisa has been released from the hospital. In the meantime, if anyone is interested in sending a donation to the volunteer fire department in lieu of flowers, the info is listed below. Please note on your donation that it's in memory of Jesse Nance. Checks should be made payable to "Morgan Mill VFD".

PO Box 13

Thank you for your continued prayers for this family. It's going to be a long journey for all involved.

That is truly sad news. I'm glad one is well enough to get released and maybe help with all the details involved in a crisis like this. I haven't kept up and missed this but I'll have them all on my list tonight.
