The United States Army will be at it lowest level since before World War II. Santayana's words are a fundamental truth that the American People seem to be once again ignoring. We will pay the price and it will be a lot more expensive than the money we are "saving" now.
For the temporary future, enjoy your EBT and welfare because this rotten house is coming down soon if we don't apply preventative maintenance soon.
Never Forget ... Obama, Reid, and Pelosi. I won't.
I've been outed. Thank you Mr. President for raising the minimum wage for government contractors.
I've been posting on this website for a while now absorbing verbal abuse from all sides. I never post on liberal websites but it's amazing to me the political view of the people whom I share the same motorcycle interest. I'm not sure of the reason for this but it interests me nonetheless. To me politics is an extra curricular affair. One of my best friends is vehemently opposed to the government, Obama, and is an avid gun collector - but he still is a best friend. Even my family is staunch republican but we refrain from political argument when we share a dinner on holidays. I've been self-reliant throughout my life, lucky (or good at what I do), never unemployed and never asking for handouts. However I do understand there are some less fortunate who have not realized the opportunities I've had. Now retired, I receive benefits from Medicare and Social Security. Government has worked for me. It's amazing to me the anger shown by some people here, not all, and makes me think that there are other personal reasons for that besides politics. It is not my intention to contribute to their issues. It's not that important to me.
Santayana's words are timeless and we ignore them at our own peril.
America's Quiver of Outrage Is Empty By Victor Davis Hanson · Feb. 27, 2014 excerpts:
Don't step over the line and re-militarize the Rhineland. Absorbing Austria would cross a red line. Breaking up Czechoslovakia is unacceptable. Get out of Poland by the announced deadline. The rest was history.
Don't dare blow up another American military barracks overseas. Don't ever consider another attack on the World Trade Center. Don't even try blowing up one more American embassy in East Africa. Don't ever put a hole in a U.S. warship again. The rest was history.
President Obama issued yet another one of those sorts of warnings to stop the violence to Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych just before protestors drove him out of office. “There will be consequences if people step over the line,” Obama threatened.
The U.S. has now shot so many rhetorical arrows that its quiver of indignation is empty – and the world's troublemakers may know it. An administration that ignores almost all of its own Obamacare deadlines surely cannot expect others to abide by any timetables it sets abroad.
Although the U.S. alone seems to honor its promised deadlines of withdrawal from Afghanistan and Iraq, the world's aggressors sense that the Obama administration's bluster is predictably to be followed by more bluster. Therefore, they have decided to risk aggrandizements while they can. In the mind of Vladimir Putin, today Ukraine, tomorrow the Baltic States or Eastern Europe. For the Iranian theocrats, if chemical WMD are OK in Syria, why not nuclear WMD in Iran? For China, when Japan backs off, why shouldn't Taiwan, South Korea or the Philippines?
Such a seemingly insignificant loss of deterrence is how wars often start – when an aggressive nation bets that loud words signal that consequences will never follow. So it is emboldened to up the ante to try something even riskier.
America's step-over line/deadline/red line outrage is long past monotonous and empty – and the result has been an ever scarier world.
Now retired, I receive benefits from Medicare and Social Security. Government has worked for me.
Wow! Either you are a troll or you are really, really stupid. And I mean that in a nice way. I'm retired also but am not old enough for social security. The returns on my 401(k) and IRAs far exceed those of the miserable ponzi scheme called social security. But if you're happy, well I'm reminded of the quote by Dean Wormer in the movie Animal House, "Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, son".
That's a bit harsh dude. I assume he has a union pension too. With the benefits he has paid his whole life he is one of the last to look forward to a decent retirement. More power to him.
It is really unfair to speculate that you could have done better buying ( stocks gold silver piccasos what freaking ever ) instead of paying your taxes. Did not happen and not an option unless you were rich. I sure did not.
If he is willing to actually converse & not play parrot I will do the same. Otherwise he can tell his Masters to kiss my shiny metal........
Well now I'm confused. FF's claim was that the benefits he receives from SS and Medicare prove that govt works for him. That's the argument.
I've paid the max into SS since 1976. 401(k)'s and IRA's of various types are a rather recent phenomenon, with caps on how much you can invest each year (I've done the max there too). Even so, I will receive many times more from my personal investments than the ponzi scheme of SS. I think you'll also find that medicare is about to be raped by the ACA. Additionally, should I die tomorrow, all the money in my personal accounts remains in my estate. With SS, my wife will receive a small widow's stipend. That's it. BFD. Nowhere did I suggest that I or anyone else not pay their taxes. As a business owner, I made sure that I paid everything correctly. Sometimes I winced when I wrote the check but write it I did.
This is the face of lawlessness. Anyone who fails to see this better take a long look in the mirror. Setting this precedence will transform the so-called swinging pendulum of politics into a scythe. Agree with Holder and Obama at your own peril because this will eventually destroy ALL of us.
NEVER FORGET who destroyed YOUR health care, removed YOUR doctor, canceled YOUR insurance and significantly raised YOUR premiums and deductibles. REMEMBER who to vote for this November. REMEMBER that ZERO Republicans voted for this monstrosity.
Well phrased. I looked at the opening volley of "wrongs" and laughed at the patent inaccuracy.
The left is, at least, consistent.
They refuse to discuss facts. Just take half sentences and truths and parade them about as proof their ridiculous positions have some merit.
On the bright side . . . .the latitude that the big o has brought to Executive Orders (the same thing he swore NOT to do) will be of great use as the Republicans recapture the executive and legislative branches.
>>>Lois Lehner most certainly broke the law by targeting or allowing the continued targeting of republicans and conservatives while at the IRS
I'm loving watching that one develop. The COIC (community organizer in charge) says "not a smidgen or corruption" . . yet, the IRS gal who pulled and engineered the "no smidgen" acts . . . needs a team of the best attorneys money can buy and is forced (after spewing a mouthful of drivel) to invoke the 5th Amendment . . . "what I say may TEND TO INCRIMINATE" me.
If things were as she and barack say . . . . she would be in there . . "sure, I'll answer any question you have".
Toss in the release of the Clinton's "secret files" and we're going to have all the entertainment we can handle from these lying sacks of shit.
FF your incapable of friendship. You can have your own opinions but not your own facts! Your only form of recreation is trolling websites looking for a time to Bleat look how I have been wronged by that Badweber. Your the guy that said I have black friends during the Civil Rights Movement. When you really live in fear of them. You live to torment and harass others you do not agree with. Its time for every one to ignore your personal self hate and venom. You see hate and evil in every one else when the real issue is you hate the guy in your mirror.
