Hmmm a barbeque trip to the Dino, I'll be up for that too, might be in a cage though. Transatlantic vibes on the way John. Don't forget, nod sagely at the doctor & grope the nurses, not the other way round. |

The surgery went well. I have five photos of my bladder from the inside as a souvenir. The doctor removed the tumor and a number of polyps from the inside of my bladder and sent them off to Pathology. I didn't get to talk directly to him right after the surgery, but my daughter and son-in-law did. He gave them the impression that things were looking pretty good for me. The kids were very relieved when I spoke with them after the anesthesia wore off. I'm going on the assumption that it was non malignant, but I'm also staying aware that it might be a lot worse. I won't know for sure until my appointment next week. I was pretty sore and slow moving after the surgery and yesterday, but this morning, I feel much better. I won't be doing much snow shoveling, but I don't think I'll be confined to bed or the couch all day, either. I'm not completely out of the woods yet, but I have the firm belief that all the Positive Energy and Prayers will help pull me through. I feel like George Bailey at the end of It's A Wonderful Life Thank you all. |

May want to put a smaller, lighter, lower bike in your stable, for those days when the big bike seams a little daunting. I am setting my herd up accordingly. Some off camber foot down jostling with a 400+ pound monster strains me these days. Heal up and ride brother, R.D. |

O.K., kids; I just got back from the doctor's office. The news isn't as good as I was hoping. I have high grade papillary urothelial carcinoma. The biopsy showed that it's into the bladder wall, but was inconclusive about whether it's into the surrounding muscle. What this means is that I have to go back into the OR and have another biopsy taken in a couple of weeks. If the cancer is at stage T1, then I'll be on a treatment plan that will take about two years to complete. If it's at T2, then I'll have to have my bladder removed. Right now, I'm just trying to digest the news. I'm a bit rattled and I'm not functioning very well. I'm pissed off, scared and confused. I'll get a handle on it,eventually, but right now, I just want to go beserk. Maybe I'll watch some movies. The Shootist, Gran Torino and The Bucket List come to mind. I'll keep you all informed as things progress. |

Well, kids, here's the latest on my continuing saga of as The Stomach Turns. Yesterday, I went back to the hospital to have a second Biopsy taken from my bladder. The procedure was pretty much the same as when the Urologist removed the tumor. The differences are that I recovered from the anesthesia a lot quicker, and I'm in a good bit more pain than after the first procedure. They gave me a script for Percoset which I didn't get filled; because I don't like what it does to me, and I didn't think I'd need it after the first surgery. At 2 AM this morning, I was really wishing I had filled it, but now, the pain has gone down enough to where I probably won't get it filled. I'll have to keep the catheter in until tomorrow, but then I'll be able to remove it. I don't like the damned thing, but it's better to have one than it is to not be able to pee. Oh; I am on a drug that makes my urine a bright fluorescent orange, so for ten days I have to flush the toilet twice each time I use it, as the drug can cause permanent stains in the porcelain. I spoke with the doctor before the surgery, and he was very optimistic that the cancer is not into the muscle surrounding the bladder, which means I'll be able to just get treatments, and not have to have the bladder removed. I really hope he's right, but I'm not going to get my hopes too high; he was pretty optimistic that the cancer hadn't spread into the bladder membrane after the last procedure, and it had. I'll know the results from the pathologist in a few days. That's pretty much it for now. I'll keep you all updated as I learn more. |

I've been to the doc more in the last 18 months than the past 47 plus years.... It would be so nice if they could just plug a diagnostic cable into ya, get a print out, swap the old parts for new and be on your way. Wish I could give you a big hug and spend some time farting around in the garage.... You are in my thoughts |

Thoughts and prayers you're direction . . . . I, also spending way to much time in the OR the last year, know what you're up against. This report sounds pretty heartening . . . . keep at it . . . kick some butt and let's eat BBQ. Court |
