Neat. I used to ride the parts shuttle ( absolutely forbidden, of course ) at Kodak when on late shift. Stupid thing to do, I admit. An electric tractor & a train of flatbeds. We'd toss a couple of chairs on the thing and hang on. Not intended for human use, it had "follow the buried wire" tech & would occasionally hit people, but not usually run them down. Also often lost track and would wander off to kamikaze a wall.

The Navia is much better. The speed limit on the thing is a function of the G-tolerance of the passengers in a quick stop to avoid a pedestrian.

At my work, in the early 1980's, we too had something called a tugger.

Chain in the floor moved flatbeds (tugger's) along at about 2 mph. You pulled a pin to release it from the line. It was a way to deliver parts around the manufacturing floor.

No chain and tugger's anymore. And surprise, we are always out of a particular part, or as they now call it, just in time parts!

And when, precisely, does JIT become TFL?

When the workers go on "wait time".

But, it's made cheaper in China, so they can afford to shut down an entire line.

Makes sense to me
