Several fronts that bother me.....

I got a new printer. It went bad and I was sent a new one in warranty. They did not want the ink back with the returned printer and said not to use it.Referred me to a recycle point....so I installed that ink anyway...that had printed only one page in the original printer...and it did not work in the replacement printer. Apparently, the ink cartridges are encoded or something on start up and are married to "that" printer and will not be "read" by any other compatible printer. Such a waste. WTF Hewlett Packard?

My old Star-tac cell phone was cool. You could replace a dying battery during a call... with a back up battery..and not lose your connection. Now you can't even replace the battery in the newer phones. That's progress?

I have a prescription for an anti-acid that costs me $5.00 for a 90 day refill. Label says my insurance has saved me $345.00.I can buy the EXACT same drug off the shelf for $90.00 for a 90 day run. Who is screwing who? Insurance saved me $85.00,not $345.00. Wonder what the pharmacy bills the insurance company?

Filters for my Sears humidifier are $23.00 a set. They don't fit very good at all and last about a month before the "change filter" light comes on and the water usage goes down. Menards filters are $7.95 a set,fit terrific and have ran all Winter with no degradation. WTF Lady Kenmore ?

If you replace the battery on your own(newer vehicle) and lose power to the computer while you replace the battery...you have to take the vehicle to a dealer to have the computer "reset" ($65.00 around here) WTF Big Three?

I had a video camera shoved down my throat for a follow up/check up.
Out patient surgery:$520.00
Lab: $18.00
Outpatient misc charges: $2,300.00
Misc charges are $2,300.00!WTF?

I need to go for a ride...but it's -10°F! WTF mother nature?
Feel free to chastise me...or add more of your own. . .

I bought an extended warranty for my water heater that covers parts and labor, but doesn't cover shipping on said parts. WTF

Ink cartridges have had smart chips on them for years, stores manufacturing date, expiration date, and like you said some models can marry to a printer. This is because the printers are sold at a loss, and they make the profit on ink cartridges. There is a huge market for people refiling and reusing ink cartridges, or selling refilled carts on Ebay/Amazon, so that is how they prevent you from using used or aftermarket cartridges.

Ink printers suck anyway, cost per page of printing is too high, and they are slow and unreliable. You can get a good B&W laser for about a hundred bucks, if you really need color you are looking around $200. Toner cartridges last forever, but while they are more expensive than ink cartridges, you can get a few thousand pages per cart vs a few hundred with ink. I have a HP Laserjet 4 from 1994 that is still on the original toner (rated at 8,000 page), it is finally starting to look faded.

If you took a modern battery and put it on a startac, you could likely use it for a week straight without having to charge it up. From a quick look online, the battery was 600mAh, while the Samsung S4 has a 2600mAh battery, while still being thinner and lighter. (Oh and it can still be removed and replaced)

I've not heard of that, and I put a new battery in myself in my 2012 GMC back in December.

I work in engine controls and haven't heard of this issue. If fact one of the best ways to fix a buggy development controller is to unplug it and plug it back in.

"I have a HP Laserjet 4"

Me too : ) I got the printer and the toner cartridge used (company was tossing it) and have had to refill the cartridge once. It involved opening up a couple of other "empty" ones and dumping the contents into the one for the 4. Bloody mess, but it worked.

+1 on inkjets sucking.

Borrowed a Honda minvan while the vw was in the shop.
Mminivan gets used a dozen times a year and the computer drains the battery while it sits.
Killed 2 batteries dead. Have to enter a code to reboot the radio. Every time the battery runs low. Oddly, the gps doesn't need one.
F the winter

The code for the radio is likely a theft deterrent.

As long as we're kvetching, and to have some motorcycle input, why the hell do they put locking gas caps on motorcycles anyway? Is gasoline theft really that big a problem?

Probably not, but if you park in an unsecured area, vandalism may be.

I rather appreciate this. More concerned about what someone might put in rather than take out...

Man I miss my LaserJet 4L. I too bought mine in 1994. Gave it to Goodwill in 2008, biggest mistake I've made in printing so far

Since I don't own a cell phone, no issues for me!

P&L for a water heater...you're kidding right?

Winter here is good, if you have snoeshoes

Drink lots of good micro brew and everything will be fine again in a couple of months

I'm grumpy today because the powder color on my new 2010 3-bearing magnesium tone Uly rim is an off color(more gold-ish) it's also very thin and flat compared to the front and original rear..(more bad HD vendor quality control). It bugs me to the point of wanting to have them both re-coated to match.. now to find the right color, good grief

After building hot-rods and restoring motorcycles for years I have become very picky in this respect.. grrr

"P&L for a water heater...you're kidding right?"

No, not kidding. I had to pay $30 to have them overnight a gas valve to me. I was going to have a plumber install it out of principle (labor is covered) but the plumber was closed on Saturday so I just did it myself.

Don't even get me started on the snafu with customer service and finding a plumber in the first place. I'll never buy another Whirlpool water heater.

...the next day I had a pipe freeze and burst. It was a fun weekend...

I have a Samsung laser jet printer copier. At about 8000 copies it just quits printing off the toner cartridge and it is done reracking doesn't work. Then they want me to spend my money to send it in for recycling. Screw that. I like how they make all these claims about being green well let me use all the ink.

Miscellaneous charges aren't. If they are requiring you to pay them, DON'T. Request an itemized summary of the charges, and let them know they have 15 days to comply, or you will take the bill, and balance owed to the State Insurance Commissioner

90% of those charges are bogus, inflated, and out of realm

I now own a Samsung color laser printer...all in one CLX something or other.

You can print off a label for FedEx and drop it into one of their boxes...no charge to you.

This printer is pretty good with great res.
