I am not a stranger to hitting the pavement, though I haven't been struck by a vehicle and try to ensure things stay that way. Lately my commute takes me through the lunch rush traffic and I've been seeing about one accident for at least every 20 miles of travel. The most perilous and final stretch of my journey is a short trip down a very busy road. After glancing quickly for late runners after the light went green, a red light runner comes 3-4 feet from hitting me as I go through the intersection. If he had not hit his brakes it would have ended differently. It sucks having little control of the situation once committed to forward flight. Having a bumper so close to my leg gives me a fresh appreciation for my well working appendages  | ||

Glad it didn't end badly. I've been hit twice on a bike. One side swipe and one tail-end. I hate traffic. Be careful out there. I've been thinking about sticking another safety course under my belt this year. I always learn or re-learn something in them. I am very thankful that most of my parts are working right this morning with seaming comfort. | ||

Glad you're OK & that the runner missed you. It's incidents like this one that make me want more red light cameras, to act as a deterrent to light running and to allow my survivors to sue the butt of anyone that hits me... Chris C | ||

When I pulled out of my work to get some delicious lunch just now, a tool in a volvo almost rear ended me. I pulled out slowly since he was far away. He must have been going almost 80 or something. either that or his reaction time was 5 seconds. I was in my 3 ton Dodge. Not quite invisible. Morons should be marked with a RFID chip and those who care should be tipped off with proximity alerts. | ||

While visiting a buddy in Phoenix that drives a Taurus, he was bragging about his cruise where he can set the following distance sensor. I can see that for emergency use but he was driving in heavy traffic with his cruise on. I quit riding with him. I could see people setting that then doing all kinds of other things instead of driving. | ||

Most of the active cruise controls nowadays will actually stop your vehicle should the one in front of you stop. It's probably safer than a human driving in traffic. You still have to pay attention to steer though! | ||

I agree, and from what I've seen fully autonomous vehicles are not that far away into the future and will make the roads safer for everyone. Google has a small fleet of autonomous cars, and every accident they have been in was due to human error. They were either hit by another vehicle, or the accident occurred while the human was driving. | ||

So one of our buses got t-boned yesterday. They were stopped, lights flashing picking up kids. Some guy tried to back out of his driveway and hit the bus on the right side. Then he actually asked the bus driver to move so that he could go to work. Nope, the bus isn't going to move again until the paramedics have checked each and every kid on the bus, and the school district has an accounting of each kid on the bus, and the police decide it's time to move the bus again. Don't hit a school bus unless you have time to kill! How do you not notice a freaking yellow bus at the end of your driveway when you back out? | ||
