That was my first thought when I saw it also... there is a foundation for the ultimate KLR-650 replacement there.

I've a sneaky feeling Court's thinking the same thing Bill, lol ; )

So what's the possibility this will come to the US? 3,2,1 debate.

As is? I doubt it.

This is a concept bike, built to test the waters, to see what folk like us think about it.

The proof that they're on the right lines (except for maybe that hideous headlight) is that we're discussing it vigourously.

I like it. Could be a great next step from a Blast. It would also be a trip on a short roadcourse after some suspension tuning.

"It would also be a trip on a short roadcourse after some suspension tuning."

At first glance it sounded like "a long walk on a short pier..."

:-)

I guess that wasn't the smoothest way to relay the message.

"I couldn't be happier though. In fact I'm chuffed to bits the Hastur has now been revealed as a Buell creation".. Rocket. I will assume what rocket said is good and agree with him

Well I liked the look of it from the off, and to be somewhat hypocritical bearing in mind what I've said elsewhere about the stigma of buying an Indian made motorcycle in this market sector, it does make me feel closer to the product it being an EBR creation.

That's not quite to say I'd lose interest if it were purely all Indian made, but there is something more desirable, and in motorcycle terms exotic, about having Buell in or on the product. I say so because I've always regarded Buell as a manufacturer of quality exotic motorcycles and I'm a snob : )

I'd hire about 600 folks (there are currently huge incentives in the USA and it'd make you a hero (no pun intended) in terms of job creation in WI), set up a line in East Troy and avoid taxes and tariffs by having a HERO production facility in the USA.

Land is available, talent is available, market is there.

I like that idea. A lot! I think it would make those bikes much more palatable, being produced in America too. I'm not sure that Hero is thinking that though. In the article they mentioned the incredible economies of scale they have in India. I took it as trying to undercut on price, while providing similar quality. It may not be a bad business model long term. In the short term, you have an uphill climb to convince consumers that they are getting a good quality product at a lower price.

Interesting observation in the context of the other article... that said Hero is looking at expanding production outside of India...

India sourced bikes assembled stateside...? Where have I heard that before...?

On a serious note, knowing the Buell relationship - I don't care as long as I can get it serviced just as easily at a Buell dealership.

If credence need be lent, could it be re-marketed as a Buell bike with a Hero engine?

I don't see a future for Hero without a production facility for their bikes assembled in America. I'd say it's inevitable and it will happen.
