Common Core, as I understand it, so far, has 3 basic parts. In no particular order. 1. A comprehensive data base for all children. Health, psych, discipline, grades and biometric. Heavily sponsored by Microsoft, ( Gates Foundation has contributed hundreds of millions to the various groups ) Google, Walmart, etc. This data "may" be available to prospective employers and IS being shared with the Corporate entities for sales purposes. When your kid talks back to the teacher, it's on the record. Mommy has a gun? On the record. Daddy doesn't want you to take the tests? on the record. Web sits visited using school supplied computers & tablets? no answer available. Simply this is the "permanent record" you were told your misbehavior was going to stay with you for life. Except it's real, and parents will not be allowed access. Walmart, however, will. It's the biggest sales tool, ever. Think of it as "cookies" that can never be erased. B. a testing program to classify your children for future employment and attention from the Authorities. Just as a "diagnosis" of ADD by a teacher can get your kids on psychoactive meds, the opinions of "authorities" ( with not actual qualifications ) on your kids attitude, political reliability, and suitability for employment will be your kid's fate. There is no mechanism for appeal. There never will be. 3. Comprehensive, continuous, and secretive propaganda. Your child will be told that you are stupid, ruined the planet, and cannot be trusted. ( gotta admit, there's something to that ) Thomas Jefferson was a slave owning sexual exploiter, Che was a hero, and Castro's Cuba has a much better medical, ethical, and supportive system than decadent, Capitalist America. Your kids will be told to Obey any "representative" of the Government. ( as a substitute for the Priests your children will be taught to fear and reject. gotta admit, something to that ) Told not to tell their parents about certain subjects and lessons and encouraged to inform on them if they show deviant behavior. Like owning guns, going to church, criticizing the Holy Government, or belonging to "certain" organizations or groups. To be fair, "inform" doesn't really cover it. Your life will be the subject of a series of "tests" your kids will take to classify them, and you, for the future. Your kids will also be told not to tell you about these "tests" or "surveys". Other than that, I don't know all that much about Commie Core. The system is advertised as a top down overhaul of the education system, so everyone uses the same standards. If you don't, your school State, etc. will be punished by simply not funding all the mandates that the Federal system imposes. Your school will lose the money to pay for the short bus that picks up the special ed kids and takes them to the special ed places, which in rural America can be the nearest city more than 50 miles away. I'm using a real world example here. It's a subject that deserves it's own thread. Most of what I hear about Commie Core sounds paranoid and crazy. Such a system being imposed on a people against their will is, simply, an act of war. If I am inaccurate in any particular above, please tell me. Meanwhile, I'd like to address... On the face, having our politicians not piss money away overseas seems good. And, it's their job to "invest" ( spend ) our tax dollars locally on infrastructure, like roads, bridges, and spaceports. I do question what the Government should be manufacturing? Do we need more tanks for your local police force? Buy them from a private company. Should your Senator run a toy factory, like the Red Chinese Army? "invest in manufacturing"??? like Solyndra? I can see the argument that investing in research can be a good idea. DARPA has helped private firms do some amazing stuff. Past experience has proven that the Government is incompetent to actually make stuff. I give you Government Cheese as an example. Or better yet, the Aviation Industry in Italy 1930's-1945. Fascism, a version of socialism with government control over "industry" but not open "ownership", rewards those in favor, ( see Solyndra, and the bribes given to Obama to get massive loans of tax payer money, not ever paid back ) but is poor at making rational choices. Italy had a number of good airplane makers when WW2 started. When it made contracts to buy fighter planes, it bought some from every company that bribed it. None of the companies was able to mass produce fighters, even though they did good as designers and makers of small lots. Because of bribery, multiple contracts for similar planes were made, instead of picking the best one and making a lot of them. This led to having one squadron of Machis, another of Reggianes, another of Fiats, and the different companies were in competition for the limited number of engines. Italy lost. | ||

Lets experiment with this even playing field for a while...... start with: eliminating 1st class accommodations from every mode of transportation... including cruise lines, trains and airliners. All 4star and below hotel are to be demolished and remaining hotel rooms and services are to be regulated by the formed government appointees. I'm in the much larger, unreported number that lost insurance. My insurer was forced to cancel my policy by Obamacare. I purchased the new policy with the new Obamacare mandates, and the new costs. On the average, the citizens of this Country will be forced to pay between 200 & 500 percent MORE for equal or less actual coverage. A woman must pay for Viagra coverage. It's the law. ( which I bet $100 you didn't read, or could comprehend. That's not a knock on you, I doubt your Senator could understand it, and he never read it, and never will, it's now like 30,000 pages ) The initial tens of millions of people that lost their Health Insurance by Obamacare Mandate would, by law, be followed by an additional 193 million, ( per Obama Administration Memos ) except Obama decided to delay that, illegally, until after the election. After the election the MAJORITY of American citizens will have had their health insurance taken from them BY OBAMACARE, and be forced to buy new, more expensive, insurance. At gunpoint if need be. Isn't the doctor patient relationship worth anything? Some folks put the same trust in their doctor as a priest during confession.... (or more). Those folks who have to change doctors all of a sudden... after years of care from a trusted medical practitioner are the one who are left holding the bag. Sifo, in many cases the incompetent son of the boss is real. Daddy had drive ambition and wanted to give his children a better life. Son had leisure, no pressure, and even if he inherits his Dad's business, doesn't usually do well. Grandson often pisses away the rest of the fortune. There's no need to confiscate the wealth, it just goes away. Spent on stupid stuff and wasted on bad decisions. There are cases where Dad built so well that the wealth is self sustaining. It can take generations to destroy a well planned immortal entity. Often the entity will reject the heirs to the fortune as parasites. J.P Morgan, Firestone, Edison, there's not a lot of tabloid press about their relatives and their unearned wealth. It would be interesting to see what becomes of Warren Buffet's vast fortune after he's gone. Now, if instead of following the Party Line ( told to him by Millionaires ) and protesting humans passing their hard earned wealth to their children, ff complained about the soulless, immortal corporations that bribe politicians to stay super rich, ( Like GE & Obama ) he'd have a valid point. I will lose it later this year, and I'll be forced to buy one that will cost FOUR times as much. I am selling my motorcycle, won't be buying another. That will ever so slightly change the lives of people who build and/or sell them. My children's lives are being changed by commie core Freducation (see, I can be clever with names too). There are signs going up in my neighborhood that say "for rent" rather than "for sale". This will change my neighborhood. I will eventually sell this house, hopefully before public mass transit extends it's withering reach into my zip code. I can go on, but "your" a disingenuous jackass with no real desire to engage in thoughtful dialogue. Go back to building what is most likely low-income housing for section 8 tenants who are supposed to pay $20 a month but can come up with naught more than excuses as to why they can't pay it. They'll have a big flat screen on the wall and a big SUV in the driveway, but if they pay that $20 they won't be able to get their nails did. Ask me how I can nail that description so accurately. I'll save you that step. As a second job, I used to collect "rent" from section 8 tenants in south central Los Angeles. The actual rent, paid by the government (that's me and you) could be as much as $900 a month per unit (about $1 per sq ft) and the "tenant" (leech) is responsible for approximately $20 of that amount. My job was to literally sneak up on them at inopportune moments and DOCUMENT who I speak with, writing down the pathetic reasons (lies) why they could not pay. ALL the government requires is that the landlord DOCUMENT that the leech (tenant) was ASKED to pay. The government sent the rent to the landlord regardless. In 18 months, I NEVER got the $20 from ANY of the leeches in five 18-unit complexes and 14 duplex units. I did witness a lot of drugs being sold, saw hundreds of cars with over sized rims and tires, lots of silk pajamas and fake fingernails. Go ahead, call me a racist. More accurately, it's NO excuse for confiscation of wealth. In fact, for the most part, employees won't like a good boss. I've had the good fortune to work for a few very good bosses. Guess what? Folks still complain about how bad they are. It doesn't always work out that way though. I actually got to be the supervisor of the bosses son once. I certainly won't claim that wealth gave him no privilege, but as an employee, he was expected to pull his weight just like everyone else. I actually had some interesting conversations with him about the 80 hour weeks we were working at the time. He had some interesting perspective on that. Me, I've lost the job I had in wind turbine transmission repair. We just weren't competitive with facilities in China, even when you have to ship 24 ton transmissions over seas to rebuild them. I've gone back to the part time gig of driving the school bus, but I'm getting, on average about 12 less hours per week these days. Budgets are tighter than ever, and equipment issues are not being addressed on the buses like they used to be. The school districts have also cut the number of buses, choosing instead to pack more kids on the buses for longer periods of time. Do it | ||

I worked for a rather large construction firm built up from the ground by a man who is now worth millions. He had two sons and I actually liked one of them (not the other) and worked with him on multiple projects. I knew first hand that when the father finally retired that they fully expected to take over the business. Guess what? The father sold the company upon retiring and left his sons out in the cold.
