BTW good to see you back with us...

Thank you sir!

EVERYONE overinflates the work they do vs. the wage they are paid and underinflates the work of others vs. the wage they are paid.

I don't see a large hue and cry for the wages for our service members to be increased to $15/hour. Currently they make LESS that the EXISTING minimum wage. I'd say they have significantly more training than the "would you like fries with that" crowd.

The retort is always "well it's a volunteer military". Right, and so is voluntary employment. I don't think there is anyone holding a gun to a worker's head forcing them to come to work every day.

Here's the problem with wanting a high minimum wage... Scientists predict a 'jobocalypse' as robots take over manual jobs

Minimum wage workers are low skill workers. Low skill workers are not that hard to replace with automation. It's an accelerating trend. Demanding $15.00 per hour is just standing on the accelerator!

I haven't seen ANYBODY at McDonalds or any other fast food joint doing work that is worth $15 per hour.

I'll give you ONE example of what IS worth $15 per hour.

One of my drivers, non-CDL, drives a 26000 pound box truck with a lift gate. He works 10-14 hour days, 6 days a week. He loads and unloads the truck, often by hand or with a hand truck. Last night we were out on the dock together hoisting 500 pound carpet rolls by hand, almost 10000 pounds worth. This guy is strong as an ox, and smiles while he works. He follows my instructions EXACTLY.

He makes $15 per hour, and is worth every penny.

Honestly, I can get the work done cheaper than that. But he speaks good english and OWNS it when he makes a mistake. That last detail is VERY important in my business.

I have a lot of employees who do nothing but point the finger when something goes wrong.

Try and get somebody at McD's to own up to a mistake. Aint gonna happen.

For some perspective, Inland Seafood runs Class B 33000 pound trucks with CDL drivers who HAND UNLOAD frozen product into hotels, and they start at $9.50 per hour.

It took me years to make in the professional field what I made in shoveling Manure out of stables, raising hogs, building fences, and bucking bails - namely because that was all under the table cash and I was not shouldering the weight of the government and their theft from my paycheck; hell I even worked less hours.

46champ, the problem isn't making the lists, it's editing them down.

First, you have to be ruthless about not including pure conjecture. For example, I may suspect that the action a politician takes is BECAUSE of this or that reason. The action is legit to include, it's a fact. My speculation that he did it because he is greedy/commie/hateful/etc. is just speculation. So toss that. It's honest and really cuts the list down.

second, you have to cull for uncertainty. For example, The Gulf Of Tonkin Incident.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gulf_of_Tonkin_incide nt

http://www.cracked.com/article_19884_6-insane-cons piracy-theories-that-actually-happened_p2.html

Do I believe in some conspiracy here? I haven't a clue. I'm perfectly willing to believe Johnson was evil. He was. And despite the fact that getting drafted into that war was a preoccupation for my age group, I just don't freakin know.

Then I have to edit for obscurity. References to Herodotus, Plato, etc. have their place, as does Star Trek, and Bugs Bunny. But too many may miss a Dragonball Z or Babylon 5 reference. Spoils the joke.

I notice no one has taken the quiz

The quiz is too easy when the answers are all not true. I just want to remember the list the next time I get into a conversion with a Liberal Democrat as we recognize them today.

Funny thing about that birthday bash. The Obama's just got off an extended Hawaiian vacation, paid for by the American taxpayer but when it comes to her 50th birthday "bash" the invitations read "eat before you come". That joker has no problem spending your money but since this was not a state function and he would have to pay out of his own pocket, he went cheap. What a hypocrite.

Agreed. That doesn't mean that a political cartoon doesn't shed light on truth though. Those of us that post the cartoons haven't developed our politics on cartoons. There's plenty of reading done too. We would be happy to discuss and defend our positions in verbal debate. Please join in. Sadly, you have so far failed to be able to answer the most basic of questions posed to you about your positions, such as the one I've asked many times now... Why do you think you should not be able to leave your wealth to whom you choose? Still waiting for the insightful answer. If it's taking this long to develop, it must be a good one.

Your question is legitimate. Please refer to Pausesnores comments regarding his employees and his lack of respect for them. I'm assuming that he is their employer and that the disrespect illustrated is typical of the entitled. I may be wrong in this specific example but his attitude is one that has never been on the other side of the fence. A better example is a post by Kenm123+. Clearly this person is being propped up by his fathers shoestrings (money). He can't even compose a proper post yet, without knowing my experience, claims I don't work hard enough.
I started as an apprentice and completed my career supervising hundreds of men. I know what it's like to take orders from those without practical experience who were placed in a superior position because of their inherited wealth.
It is my opinion that the playing field should be leveled. If we are to have respect for one another, our experiences should be similar.

I was just in Sa Fran for a week at the St Regis .... Perhaps NYC is just a lot cheaper.

Why don't they hold meetings at the Ramada in Des Moines?

Well, you have now made it clear that you support Marxist values, that you denied earlier. Not that there was really any doubt about that.

So it's your position that I should have my wealth confiscated because of the potential that someone may become the boss of someone else because of that wealth? Do I have that straight? I'm just curious about one more thing. What do you suppose happens to that wealth once it's confiscated from me? Also, who do you suppose will be the boss under your scenario? Just wondering.

The rest of your post is just complaining about people you don't like, who you have never met, but you are making huge assumptions about them. Nice!

"The Law of Merchants, as far as it depends on custom, constitutes a part of the voluntary, not of the necessary, Law of Nations. It may, therefore, so far as it is merely positive, be altered by any municipal legislature, where its own subjects only are concerned. Innovations may also be made in the voluntary Law of Nations, so as to effect the inhabitants of different states, either by the sovereign thereof (Eden's Prim. Law, sect. 3) or any confederated union of human authority."

There, then, in the United Nations, we find our "confederated union of human authority" imposing the Law Merchant upon every human creature alive.

How pathetic and frightening it is to see and hear alleged American Patriots publicly declaiming that they are being deprived of their rights by Communist hirelings out of the Moscow Kremlin, when the perversion of the American Constitution can clearly be discerned to have its sole authentic source in the law delineated in the three paragraphs above. To read the whole of Smith's lectures is a shocking experience, for it reveals the mechanics of the entire swindle perpetrated against the American people by their own best "Conservative" politicians and organizational "educators." To read Smith is to discover not only the meaning of Federal Reserve Notes, or the 1040 form, but also the joint return and the turning of families into hives of warring cannibals.

The motto is then, "Every man and woman and child a trader upon the Law Merchant," whether he will or not.

http://famguardian.org/Subjects/Taxes/Articles/Dis patchOfMerchants.htm#XII%20LAW%20MERCHANT

Divide and Rule. Over 2 years of dribble. The system is working perfectly, only you don't know the rules. Carry on.
