>> Reading the posts in this thread is like entering a time tunnel and being dropped off during the days of Lester Maddox and going further yet to the McCarthy era. Minority opinions are like that. They seem to gather around one campfire. <<

I'm a bit late it seems that that you are "dealing with" this Rein,
we have some fundamental differences,

FF I grew up in Atlanta, and vividly remember the stories told about Lester Maddox chasing blacks out of his establishment, at 6 years old I did not understand why, at 56 I still don't..

I tend to tune the FFs' out after the evasion starts, just like the media, lie to me your done....

I also don't do PC, nor do I have time for " the entitled ", who aren't

I do enjoy reading the thoughts and comments of folks I think are intelligent and articulate as they are worth sharing.

please continue..

It is too bad that a person like FFF (FastFreddieFrank) has no problem with being deceitful as it immediately shuts down any attempt at discourse. I would like to hear his views but he is poisoned with racism as he dismissively paints everyone with a broad brush stroke. It is really sad but I somehow will manage to survive without FFF's brilliant acumen although I actually find him quite entertaining.

It's sad, really. We get these drive-by comments and the conscientious among us will attempt to engage and enlighten... to no avail.

I have been commanded by God to forgive, as I have been forgiven. And so shall it be.

Carry on.

About how effective Hillary's job as Sec State.. When you ask, “Okay, what did she get for it?” you get a blank stare or you get some stuff about championing women’s rights. Two people have told me she did good work in Myanmar, but I’ve never really gotten to the bottom of that. I suppose I could look it up, but at the end of the day we’re still talking about Myanmar, which is not the locus of America’s most pressing international problems. (“That’s right, because Hillary prevented the Myanmarese hegemony,” someone at MSNBC just shrieked. “She stopped it cold.”) While the Wikipedia page on her tenure doesn’t even mention Myanmar, it does mention her championing of better cook stoves in the Third World. That’s good. And so is improving the plight of women in various countries where their status ranges between “Slightly More Important than the Village Mule” to “So Incredibly Delicate We Must Keep Them Covered with Burlap Sacks All Day Long Even Though It’s Like 115 Degrees in the Shade Today.”

I cut & paste... since the above has a well crafted description of Women's Rights on a huge part of the planet.

Allen West for President? Amen, brother.

This is a snip from an e-mail from my Congressman today:

quote:

The Wall Street Journal and the Heritage Foundation research think tank recently released their 2014 Index of Economic Freedom, which measures countries’ fiscal soundness, government size, and more, and ranks nations by their degree of economic freedom – defined as “the fundamental right of every human to control his or her own labor and property.” The United States is no longer among the top 10 most economically free countries.[emphasis mine]

In case you’re thinking the countries ranked above us in economic freedom are emerging countries or those lacking regulations, just look at some of the countries we are behind. We trail countries like Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Ireland, and Denmark.

Damn.

Komrade, it is all double plus Good !
Be of Happy Happy Cheer.
China - because we can no longer pay them with our currency - is coming (and is already here) with 'Free Trade Zones', in which they are granted territory, land, infrastructure, communications, facilities, and of course cart blanche on US Soil in trade against our debt to them.
3 years ago, there were 257 such entities - the largest of note being 50 square MILES near the Boise International Airport.

US Law does not apply there
US Trade Laws is not in jurisdiction
US IRS cannot levy against them
US Law Enforcement has NO Authority
US Courts have NO weight.

We did not have to wait for China to invade in a Red Dawn scenario ..... they simply walked in and said - this is ours- you cant pay - now shut up.
Seek and ye shall find.
Communism is already here - DC certainly loves the tune of the 'international'

(don't even get me started on the 3 WINGS of forward deployed Helicopter Squadrons and Spetnaz troops from Russia - that will bleed over into the conspiracy thread)

Fred:

Help me out here . . . .

Name the United States President, under who's administration, the income gap between "wealthy" and "poverty" widened the most in history.

The Democrats "war on poverty" has been one of the most miserable failures in history.

You can not give folks "higher minimum wages", destroy incentives for job creation, pay more than the poverty level to NOT work for 3 years and give folks free cellphones and expect things to improve.

Improvement will come only when employers are incented to create jobs and raise salaries due to expansion and profit.

You see my piece of the pie as something to be taken. I see the wonderful ability of the pie to grow and to include more and more folks.

I'm pretty amazing that by now this whole "we have to pass it to know what's in it" stupidity still gets any traction.

The natural propensity is to simply dismiss Dems as stupid . . . I don't think that explains it. But . . it sure looks like "lazy" works nicely.

Absent work and personal commitment you can't simply "make" someone wealthier.

We are . . . as the Big O said the other day . . " a better country than this". When he started parading Susan Rice, Eric Holder and a host of other folks out telling, what were later proven to be, blatant lies. . . he's lost all credibility.

At this point . . . we're not going down the crapper . . but we are in a holding pattern until the next elections.

The current administration and their policies are an embarrassment.

Ooops. . . the article you linked actually answered your question.

quote:

— In the U.S., where the gap between rich and poor has grown at a faster rate than any other developed country, the top 1 percent captured 95 percent of post-recession growth (since 2009), while 90 percent of Americans became poorer.

By the way . . . those wealthy people ALSO pay 98% of the taxes that pay the unemployment, build the highways and pay all those wonderful civil servants.

Those wealthy, that both Barack and Michelle jointly and individually belong to and differentiate themselves ONLY by not giving hardly anything to charity, are the same folks who fund NPR and all that chicanery.

They also . . and this will give you a glimpse as to why your guy will keep widening that gap . . . are the one's who make those $6,000 (in the case of the gal he appointed to investigate himself) and much larger donations to Barack's campaign coffers.

Why . . . and I'm sure you can help me . . is a guy who is term limited working so damn hard raising "campaign contributions".

Smell a rat?

Pardon me but isn't he the guy that pushed raising taxes on the wealthy and raising the minimum wage only to be stopped by those champions of the middle class - the Tea Party. You keep on working your butt off Court. You're only a worker bee lining somebodys' pocket or maybe you've inherited a fortune and are afraid somebody's going to take it from you. Whatever. The wealthy only create diversions that keep people like you occupied. Keep up the good work.

I sincerely hope that someone will rise to the occasion, and help to bring the American People together again.
I hate the fact we become more and more a divided country.
It's a time for healing, and coming together.
Is there someone that can do that, or are we doomed to two sides working to scare the other side into voting for them?
Voting out of fear will get us nowhere fast, except for more of what we've got now.
There's plenty of blame to go around, more than enough from both parties.
It's time for a third party, but it seems that the only thing the two parties can agree on is that a third party would "upset the status quo"

It's all over but the shooting.

There will be a reconciliation, but it will come after things have gotten much worse.

The two sides are diametrically opposed and mutually exclusive. One must win, one must lose. There is no compromise.

Last time we were at this point was in 1859.

"What would raising the minimum wage do?"

Maybe if the only job you can get is at McDonalds, you might be able to afford an apartment. It's those little things, like having a place to live, that make life worthwhile.

Those folks who work at McDonalds and such... could learn something from other countries and families... where they all live together under one roof... and "make-do" with what they have until they can do better. Look at the immigrants that come here to this country and families of 8 or more live in small apts. They do what they have to. (granted some are here illegally) But, it's in the mindset and the way folks are brought up. They people looks at things.

There are a lot of folks out there with no job at all.

FastFredFrank,

You say you are not a Marxist but you sure smell like one. You say some people make too much money. OK, how much is too much and who decides? You say that profits have to be cut and the wealth shared. How much and how much? Do you have the slightest idea how difficult it is to create, build, and run a business? I suspect not but you are consumed with envy and hatred.

Friend, you better read your history because your philosophy leads to a very, very bad place.

Tell me you know that there are privileged people in all so called "equalitrarian" societies. There are also a hundred million murders as a result of the sputum you spew.

Raising the minimum wage hurts the poor. Sorry that you can't see it. Raise the price of my hamburger and I am less likely to buy that hamburger. That does not make me a hater but shows my cheapskate roots that I bet YOU share with me. There is a threshold that employers will simply automate the process and replace the workers who simply are NOT worth $15/hour in this economy. Those who get educated will design and run the machines for $50/hour. YOU are paid what you are worth. Grow up.

The minimum wage is a misnomer. It is not meant to be a living wage to raise a family across the swath of one's life although you imply that it is. It ain't, friend. Get mad but it doesn't change a thing. Got a minimum wage job and want out? The path is to get 1.5 minimum wage jobs and go full time to community college to get an education. You will succeed.

Stop your hatred because your words and ideas are disgusting.

If you have the balls to respond, please contribute with more than a single sentence. By formulating your thoughts, you will grow, friend. You will probably realize that your thinking needs realignment.

You made the assessment of "greed". That is a subjective determination.
