The Urologist just called me. He got the results back from Pathology. They're Negative!!! This means that I won't have to have my bladder removed. I will have to do BCG(?) Treatments (I think that's what he called them) that will take about two years to complete, but I can deal with that. It's once a week for three weeks, one month off, three more and three months off, etc. I'm so happy that if I didn't have this pain in the pr**k catheter embedded into my body, I'd be dancing.
I just want to thank you all for the prayers and positive energy. I honestly believe that it really helps, and I appreciate it. You guys are the bomb! |

This is just a quick update since you're wondering. I'm halfway through my first round of BCG treatments. In case you don't know what they are, I go to the Cancer Center on Friday afternoon, and they insert a catheter and fill my bladder with a biological agent (a weak form of Bovine Tuberculosis). Then I go home and lay on my bed for two hours turning every 15 minutes; Front, back and both sides. I guess you'd call it Biotherapy instead of Chemotherapy. The good part is that I don't get really nauseous and my hair won't fall out. The bad part is that I have to be alone for at least 6 hours. I spend most of my time alone anyway, but it's more important for me to be alone after getting a treatment. I don't want to give anybody TB. There are six weekly treatments in the first round, then I go back to the Urologist and have another Cystoscopy. According to the Technician (Nurse?) at the Center, it's probable I'll have to return for another round, but the next round will only be three treatments and not six.
That's pretty much where everything stands for now. As soon as I know more, I'll keep you all informed. |
