Noticed on the dealer list that my new dealer is within walking distance from my house. Went today to see if any were in stock and the salesman said they weren't a Buell dealer. I explained that they were now EBR and had nothing to do with Harley or the previous Buell. His manager confirmed they will be in soon and wasn't surprised they were going to be a dealer since Eric choose to use the CAN-AM motors in his new bike. They are a CAN-AM,Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda and SeaDoo dealer currently. Guess I'm gonna have to set them straight at some point. |

Go gentle on them. When I talked to mine the owner was very knowledgeable about the EBR's I did however also introduced him to BadWeb. |

Don't piss in your own boots and take them to school. Wait until they get some in and then give them a chance to learn about the bike themselves before you introduce them to a 'know-it-all' bueller |

Once they get the bikes and promotional stuff in, they will probably learn quite fast. I'm sure that there is a nice book that comes with being a dealer. It's not your job to right all the wrongs in this world. You are not BatMan. (also, it's EriK) |

(also, it's EriK) Guess our local dealers that used to handle Buells forgot to read that book, They called me more than once and gave more than one customer my phone number when they had a question they couldn't answer. Had a shop for over 20 years, never claimed to be a Know-it-all but my knowledge of bikes is pretty well known in this area. Not uncommon for a dealer or smaller shop to call me when they have a problem. Now I remember why I quit posting on this board. OH and thanks for the spelling correction, if any of this is wrong let me know. |

Nice to see you on here Guy. I think everyone was just trying to help you get a good foot in with the dealer before they even get their first bike. I can imagine the uneasy feeling a dealer would have knowing they spent a chunk of change to order some machines and in walks someone off the street that's gonna set them straight, although you certainly could. Jeff and I talked to the dealer down there and although he isn't that knowledgeable now, he is excited and seems ready to learn for his store and himself personally. He does track days on his aprillaz now and wants an EBR to replace them. For you folks who don't know Guy would be surprised to know how much experience Guy has wrenching and road racing / dragracing EBRs, Buells and Harleys. Let's say his current Buell stable is in the double digits...but wait there's more. Maybe Erik signed a few of his steeds with a C for a joke. Everyone with a Daytona pit pass with EBR on it please stand up...and School away. Don't take it to heart Guy. I think everyone was just trying to help. |

Yeh, I only meant it jokingly in the first place. I'm sure I'll be helping him in any way I can. I want the dealer to do well, the first one he sells will probably be mine! |

I'm not goin anywhere, just don't post as much as I used to. Talked to the new dealer today and he said they're not expecting any bikes in until after February. Said they would also be selling HERO bikes. |

BTW- in case any of you haven't checked recently, EBR added several dealers to their dealer listing this week. I count 53 total now. |

Funding for me may put me onto a Hero before an 1190. I don't mind riding slow bikes fast though. |

Dec 1st 2014 Drawing. Can I pick it up in East Troy? I'd ride it home in the snow! |

Does traction control work in the snow? |

I'd turn it off if there is a switch. In my cars I use it with the cruise so that it shuts off the cruise control when the wheel spins on ice. It depends on how it is set up and how good the sensors are. Hard for it to be effective in handling yaw with 2 wheels in line. I prefer 4WD, open differentials, and enough motor to break traction on acceleration and deceleration in the snow. Most traction controls on the street are no where near capable of doing what the systems used on the track are. The prices will reflect it too. Feel free to school me if, I have any of it wrong. I could pick it up from Hal's. They wouldn't need any schooling. Back on topic! |

Don't you suppose that existing Can-Am Spyder dealers would be a good target dealership? For two very good reasons: 1. They do sell all things rotax and it's the closest thing to the engine in the EBR, compared to what a Jap-bike dealer may stock. 2. They sell three wheeled roadsters and the EBR bike line would be a compliment, rather than take away from their business. This is assuming they are not a multi-brand dealer as posted above. My local BRP dealer sells only BRP ATV, sleds, and Spyders. And boats powered by Evinrude motors. So they would be a great choice I would think if they wanted to expand into bikes. It's just my opinion. |

Ourdee, Slight clarification (not schooling), Traction control only controls wheel slip, stability control controls yaw, usually by modulating the brakes on various corners of the vehicle to counteract rotation. Stability control is pretty difficult to do with two wheels (which is what I think you were getting at). I think Bosch advertises something now but it is more of a super traction control that takes lean angle into account. I would agree that TCS on most production vehicles is pretty crappy (especially in snow). They typically are WAY too aggressive. |
