You won't be able to even "shade tree fix" your own chain saw? I'm sure that will be standard for all mowers and small engines. . . . ...that right there is why i like the older ones.....don't have to be tied to being"bent over the railing' again.....got me an older Stihl that still gets the job done....sold an older 044 that was one mean workhorse...made mincemeat out of those larger rounds....just didn't have much use for it anymore with the other one...keep 'em sharpened, oiled, change the oil,air filter cleaned/changed and have several extra chains as backups an you're GTG(good to go)....LT |

I fix a lot of small engines for friends as favors to help them out. That could all change if they go and get all modern on me. My shit is old/easy and well taken care of.I have a 1980 Jonsered 910E as the main force with a 28" bar and a complete twin as a spare(that gets exercised just as often). They are brutes compared to hobby saws...but babies compared to harvest saws.Inherited a Mac 10-10 and my Dad's race saw(also a Mac 10-10). A gifted Mac 320 (1978?) and inherited an older Stilh and 2 Poulans. Ebay repair parts are usually easy and inexpensive. 72 links takes a while to file .....finally got an electric Oregon sharpener and never looked back.A belt sander side disk to true the bars once in a while...makes for good straight cuts. Extra bars/chains........ 24" bar on the Jonsered and a red elm...... Storing saws on baking pans is the only way to go..... Group photo

Cool to see EFI finally making its way into small engines. One of the reasons all my power tools are electric is because I don't want to deal with all the reliability issues and pain to fix carburetors, but EFI systems can fix that and reduce emissions, fuel consumption, and other running costs. |

He was the sane one in the movie. I worked on the carb on the TW200. Now it starts at -10*F on the first kick. Fuel injection is over rated. I'll still be riding after the nukes go off. Going to need an old chainsaw then. |
