Insert your own adjective in the title. ( Wife bought me a subscrip a few years ago when I had a still had a Superglide, just waiting for it to run out) This month's issue: Sportster powered "variants". A new day is dawning for hi performance sportster powered bikes.

And they're only 24 years behind the times, much like the H-D brand the love to worship - but what should I expect from a mag that has three different full page ads for different styles of air cleaner cover

Back when Howard Kelly was working there, he posted a pic on one of the forums showing him standing to the side of a new HD, holding the front brake and the throttle while the back tire was making a big cloud of smoke. This pic was on the next mag cover that came out. Anyway, that pic gnawed at me. I can do that, is all I kept thinkin. One day soon after, I was over at Brother Todd's where the band was practicing. There were like a half a dozen other folks came to have a beer and listen to the band too. The band was set up in the garage, the door was open and the 9s was parked facing the garage about a car length out. Just before a band break I couldn't stand it any more and went to the Buell and started the engine. I straddled the bike but was only touching the brake and throttle and lit her up. It worked! If I could do it straddling the bike I could do it standing to one side, right? About that time the music quit and folks started milling around out by the bike. I'm like "hey watch this!!" I stood off to the right of the bike and went to light up the tire again but it tried to grip instead of slip. I didn't take into consideration that it was now nice and heated up. I just figured what I needed was a healthy dose of twistgrip. So I tried again at full throttle with just about everyone's full attention. That's when the ole 9s launched. Unmanned and airborne. Like a rocket about two feet off the ground right straight in to the garage. It impacted an area of Todd's garage that was mostly boxes of crap, bags of recyclable cans and the landlord's stepladder.
The reactions from witnesses was hard to explain but very funny for the most part. I was in shock! I couldn't believe my bike just flew away and into the garage. The Buell came out unharmed but I had to buy the landlord a new ladder.
