I live in Maryland and there have been several high profile cases over the years where a citizen shot an intruder and the State of Md. prosecuted the victim (the shooter). Even in those cases where the victim was exonerated, by jury, the legal fees effectively bankrupted the defendant. Maryland doesn't have a castle doctrine, per se. A citizen can only use force in their home if there was no way out of the situation. In other words, you are forced to cut and run, if possible. Ferris: "In other words, you are forced to cut and run, if possible." I say this with some discretion: If you have to abide completely by that law you might as well just cut and run all the way to a free state given an opportunity to do so. |

I have a concealed carry permit (a matter of public record), and there is no situation where I won't escape first if I can find any way to do so safely for myself and the people around me. |

I totally agree Bill. The two things any decent person wants to do in a potential bad situation is have a tremendous awareness first and then always look for a means to avoid, at all possible, a confrontation and then leave that area safely. No one in their right mind would ever want to take a life unless absolutely no other option is available to save your own or that of a loved one. Awareness and avoidance always first. |

If someone is in your house threatening your life you should leave? I think not |

Please don't confuse me with somebody defending Maryland 2nd amendment infringements. |
