Hey everyone! As some of you know, Barker created a BadWeb group for us on Facebook (for those of us who enjoy wasting our time over there). He made me an "Admin" of the group and lately I've been getting FLOODED with requests from people to join. In the beginning, I was just approving everyone... however that led to countless "spam" postings for "Hot Biker Hook Ups," and other such non-motorcycling BS. So now I'm TRYING to be more careful. If the applicant has a friend in the group, I'll approve them. If the applicant's page features anything motorcycle-related in either the cover page or the profile photo, I'll approve them even if they don't have a friend already in the group. I'm just not sure of the others. Should I just approve them, and if they post something completely off-topic ban them then? Looking for advice here. And yes, I am HIGHLY suspicious of all the hot-looking young girls that seem to be popping out of the woodwork to join the group too... | ||

I didn't say I was surprised... I said I was suspicious. Like Woody Allen's character in "Annie Hall," he was always suspicious of women who took an interest in him (like the old Groucho Marx line: "I'd never belong to a club that would have someone like me as a member"). | ||

Slaughter, that works for friend requests to me... but when joining a group I'm not sure how you'd know who to send a message to? Does it show who the administrators are anywhere? As an administrator, *I* can see who else is... but I don't know if a regular member can. | ||

Yes Facebook is a data mine, & also a very useful resource. I have rediscovered many lost friends through it. However I'm well aware that not all the folk on there are kosher, so I don't share any sensitive info. I've even posted disinformation. | ||

I used to do the Facebook, G+, Linkedin, Myspace, etc. I deleted my online presence about a year ago. I've always used a false DOB for every website, now to my advantage in that I can't really be found. There are a LOT of Matthew Anthonys out there... very few of them are me. | ||

You shouldn't do anything here or Farcebook that will give spam-bots any more of a trail than possible. If you see a picture that you like, don't "share" - but save it and then post it on your page. Some simple common sense precautions are in order. I can't believe people put ACTUAL birthdays, ACTUAL family names, ACTUAL residence locations. You will note, my "children" - I sold my "son" Ignatius to the gypsies and later had to sell my daughter "Esmerelda" to the same band of gypsies because she missed her brother. My new daughter "Ernestine" was born on 01 April this year - also coincidentally my 100th birthday! ME... I just posted a pic of my "daughter" Esmerelda and her "bestie" Louise for Christmas this year. This picture was taken during Christmas almost a decade ago. It's the Holiday season when I miss Ignatius and Esmerelda. I'll soon have FarceBook pages for Esmerelda and possibly my poinsettia (not yet named) Also, I just moved from Nala, Tasmania to Hell, Norway. No, don't write me there.  | ||
