A couple months back, I wrote my senator expressing my opinions and fears of our possible intervention in Syria... and just tonight received this response (which touched my heart with its sincerety)

quote:

Dear Friend:
Thank you for taking the time to write and share your views with me. Your comments will help me continue to represent you and other Californians to the best of my ability. Be assured that I will keep your views in mind as the Senate considers legislation on this or similar issues.

If you would like additional information about my work in the U.S. Senate, I invite you to visit my website, http://boxer.senate.gov. From this site, you can send a message to me about current events or pending legislation, access my statements and press releases, request copies of legislation and government reports, and receive detailed information about the many services that I am privileged to provide for my constituents. Again, thank you for sharing your thoughts with me. I appreciate hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Barbara Boxer
United States Senator

Slaughter don't feel special I get the same canned response from Boxer no matter what the issue was that I wrote about. At least Feinstein sends a letter that at least someone had to read to respond. Not that I support Feinstein either.

we have them out east, we have 1 dem and 1 repub, the repub sent a form letter, the dem has not responded.

the repub feels that the situation in syria can be dealt with diplomatically with force being an option if needed.

not bad over all.

you have to wonder how boxer got in or stays in ........

cheer up
We go into Syria ~!
The O needs the international distraction.
There are entirely too many troops that are 'leaving' with no 'destination' and on 'alert' with a 96 hour draw up warn-notice.

Those of you that were in, have seen this before.

Hint - if you want to fight a war in the desert - it is best to do it in the fall or winter.....

and the beat goes on

And the Blue Ridge Parkway Redoubt.

Our redoubt here on the northern portion of the BRP is in jeopardy: We Virginians will elect a new Governor on Tuesday, and BIG money has been pouring into the D candidate's coffers from outside the state (read: New York Nanny). On top of that, BOTH 0bamas and BOTH Clintons have been campaigning for and with the D dude. This is blood sport.

We lost the Commonwealth to 0bama last November (by a mere 70,000 votes), and now they're trying to drive home the final nail in the proverbial coffin...

Boxer and Feinstein are one of the reasons I'm leaving California. Los Angeles and San Francisco run roughshod over this state, guaranteeing that the rest of the state goes unrepresented in the senate. But I suppose that's true for Illinois and New York as well (2 states I WON'T be moving to).

Basically received the same letter from my congresscritter.

As a matter of fact, almost without exception, I receive the same number of paragraphs, the cut and paste about the subject matter, in every letter I receive from my entrenched congresscritter.

Even asked him at a town hall if he had any thoughts of standing with Cruz, Lee, and Palin out in DC recently. Nary a peep!

Here's an example of what we get in our Republik of Illinois...

quote:

May 7, 2013

Mr. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Dear Mr. xxxxxxxxx:

Thank you for contacting me about gun violence prevention. I appreciate hearing from you.

Americans are entitled to own and use guns responsibly. The Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution guarantees this right. In 2008, in the case of District of Columbia v. Heller, the Supreme Court struck down the District’s handgun ban and affirmed Second Amendment rights. However, the Court also noted in its decision that Second Amendment rights are subject to reasonable limitations.

Within this context, we must work to pursue policies and enforce existing laws to protect Americans from becoming victims of gun violence. Strong penalties for violent crimes involving firearms should be part of any effort to reduce gun violence. I have consistently supported tough crime control and prevention initiatives since coming to Congress.

I support efforts that address illegal possession and use of firearms. Common sense restrictions such as bans on multi-round magazines and assault weapons are supported by law enforcement officials who patrol our streets. I also support universal background checks to prevent the transfer of firearms without a background check by non-licensed gun sellers.

We must institute common-sense limits, such as barring those with a history of mental instability, those with a history of violent crime or who are subject to restraining orders, and those whose names have been placed on a terrorist watch list from owning weapons. Straw purchasers and gun dealers should face firm penalties. There should be limits on how many firearms may be purchased in one month. Those who own firearms that are within the reach of children should have protective locks on their weapons.

Although we may disagree on this issue, I will keep your thoughts in mind as the Senate considers gun violence prevention measures. I will continue to uphold the right to bear arms and do not seek to diminish the ability of Americans to do so. We must strike a balance between protecting our constitutional rights and preventing senseless acts of violence that have led to the loss of countless lives in Illinois and across America.

Thank you again for contacting me. Please feel free to stay in touch.

Sincerely,
Richard J. Durbin
United States Senator

RJD/bc

I can't even get a response from my state rep.

I do have a friend who volunteered to be on a woman's right comity for our state rep though. It was the only way she could get any time with her. There were no other volunteers and time was already set aside for some meetings, so it became a one on one thing. Among other things she found that our state rep had absolutely zero concept of inalienable rights. Pretty darned ignorant for a law maker.

That's ole Turbin Durbin!! I've gotten similar letter from that jerk! My congressman is very conservative but then again, I'm in southern Illinois. Down here we all wish Chicago would leave for Canada so we don't have to pay for their stupidity!
