A friend of mine developed a helmet light that may be of interest to those who like to be seen while riding. My bike is in the product video so it is Buell related; ) At night it is exceptionally visible.

Most of the video is about application to the helmet, to see it work and on the road, start the video at 5:38

Good idea.
But in CA. the first CHP that sees red lights facing anywhere but rearward. Will issue a ticket to have the offensive lighting removed. If, they don't remove it on the spot.

Nice profile pic. Looks like you were at Newcomb's Ranch in August of 2010.

Thanks Tom, I was! That was great day. I raised that issue with him as well about Cali and the red lights, he said he can alter the lights so they are white toward the front and remain red for the back.

I think amber is OK all around. Blue, as I understand it is a big no-no as it is reserved for emergency equipment. I think green would pass in most states.

In CA, as I understand, amber and white lights are the only colors that can face front.

Modulating white lights, with flashing red with brakes applied would be really cool. Perhaps a bluetooth integration for the brake light function?

I bought me and the wife a set of GMAX 78S helmets that have a built in led light in the back. Push once for lit, twice for slow flash and three times for fast flash.

I had one of those helmets. (Gmax) I removed the light and installed it into the reflector on my Uly top case. 2 problems remain; first, I need to make a battery holder that will work in this limited space. Second, the button is right in the middle and is real easy to hit when you grab the handle of the top case.
When I get the bugs worked out of it, I will have an emergency light for the Uly that is independent of the bikes electrical system.

I was working on a remote relay to run off my brake light to light up a LED on the back of my helmet. Local Indie bike shop had them on the wall for $99. Oh well. . .
