Dr Kings dream is still alive,

I don't judge obama on his skin color, but his actions, and words.

Poor decisions, and outright lies,

Dr.King is spinning in his grave as the chump in charge makes an ever bigger mess.

By metrics that the Good Doctor would approve of baraque is a failure
the color of his skin has nothing to do with it.

The latest crises the budget inpass,
I hope that Boehner stands his ground and the house remembers what the founding fathers intended them to do in this situation.

I'm not normally a news-watcher but as a furloughed federal employee and a current though temporary) resident in the DC Metro area, I've had a lot of free time lately. I always thought the media coverage(CNN, MSNBC, Washington Post) leaned a bit to the left but this week its been amazing. Not even close to being impartial. Calling Boehner the leader of nothing, calling Cruz's actions "insane", the GOP's actions "ridiculous". My favorite bit though was the clip from Michael Steels, former Chairman of the RNC who talked about how only House Republicans could repeatedly run across a room and crash into the wall and then see each subsequent collision as "progress". Personally I think it's ironic that Tea Party wackos actually brought Senate and House Democrats and Republicans together while driving the (rational) public's rating of the GOP to an all-time low.

Death knolls for the TP

Death knolls for the TP

I don't think so. I think more likely the opposite or should I say Death Knolls for the Republican party. Most conservatives are very unhappy with the Republican power establishment in Washington that is more concerned with maintaining the status quo than they are in doing what they were elected to do. Most Republicans were elected or reelected on the platform of doing anything they could to stop Obamacare. But, when it came down to it, many were unprepared and unwilling to fight. This has angered those that voted for them and already there have been calls for primary challenges for a lot of those elected officials.

No, I don't think this will bring down the Tea Party. I think it will do the exact opposite and hopefully for the better. Hopefully there will be more conservatives in Washington that actually do what their constituents elect them to do rather than just falling in line with the Party Leaders.

Those chanting "death knells for the Tea Party" and "The Tea Party is an extreme fringe" will be treated by history the same way the people who chanted "death knells for anti slavery groups" and "Emancipation is fringe extremest movement".

At some point in the future, either by people in a strong US government or by some strong government that replaced it, it will occur to people that crushing crippling debt is a crushing crippling problem. And that maybe its insane to make it legal to murder viable babies that have not managed to escape the womb.

If I'm still alive I'll take no pleasure in having been on the right side of those issues... they are abominations.

"What has (sic) Republicans done to Bring Back "GOOD" Paying JOBS!?"

Well, let's see. They've opposed Obamacare. That's a big one right there. Obamacare has, and is, costing jobs.

They've passed budget after budget that would reduce the annual deficit over time, eventually balancing the budget, and ultimately paying off the debt. They've offered structural reforms to Medicare/Medicaid and SS that preserve existing benefits while reducing eventual outlays, thus ensure that these programs survive for the next generation.

What have the Democrats done? Never voted on (not for, on) a single one of them in the Senate. Mr. Reid refuses to bring budget bills to the floor, even the ones that Congress passed under Pelosi. There's your problem.

Care to respond, or will you just come back with another meaningless, fact-free post?

Saw another interesting point made and that is how both sides an look at the same "facts" and reach entirely different conclusions. I'm not a big fan of the Affordable Health Care Act but the fact is that it was properly enacted through our process and even survived an entirely unnecessary Supreme Court challenge. If its so bad, how did it pass in the first place and why couldn't opponents legitimately repeal it without taking the route they did the last 3 weeks? It was a desperate and unsuccessful ploy and although I'm not a bi fan of President Obama either, I do admire his integrity and refusal to bow down to extortion. Now Boehner will need Pelosi's help to pass the bills today and the result is legislation that will be decidedly more to the left than the bill Boehner had to pull last night. The TP gambled big and lost. They're dead now, like a chicken with its head cut off. And just like the chicken, with no brain, the body doesn't even realize it yet

If its so bad, how did it pass in the first place

LOL at an either ignorant question or an intellectually dishonest question. Which is it?

It passed without ONE republican vote, without the DEMS allowing any Republican input, in the middle of the night with Pelosi actually saying "you have to pass it to find out what is in it". This tactic was the single biggest reason the Tea Party came to be and the biggest reason the DEMS got their butt kicked in 2010. Fact is that most that voted on it had not even read the bill. How could they. It's thousands of pages long and they literally had like a day to read it. Heck, Obama and his minions had to go around the country to try to gather support for the bill AFTER it was passed. AFTER. That is how poorly it was received at the time the DEMS forced it on America because they think they know better than you what is good for you. To this day a large majority of americans don't want Obamacare and never supported Obamacare. Lastly, most legal scholars think the Supreme Court ruling was just flat out wrong.

that was a rhetorical question. let me dumb it down for you

Did O'care pass by the required majority? (Hint - the answer is yes).

Is there a process in place to repeal or revise it ON IT's OWN MERITS (yes again)

Can the opponents get the votes to change it (No, at least not yet)

Did this poorly conceived stunt have any serious effect on O'Care? (no)

Did this stunt cost the american government and economy millions of dollars per day (yes)

again, ironic that opponents who decry wasteful spending just cost us all millions of dollars with no tangible benefit

The statement that most legal scholars etc.......is just plain false.

And lets be honest - most Americans are politically stupid. Google the poll that showed more American's support the Affordable Health Care Act than support "ObamaCare". Dumb bastards don't even realize its the same thing. They get their info from emotionally charged,chest-thumping, lying TPs and their supporters.

Boehner just said "we fought the good fight and lost"

http://firstread.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/10/16/2099 3759-boehner-we-fought-the-good-fight?lite

Which I normally applaud. As or the TP, they simply displayed their passion and revealed a total lack of understanding of the process and its impact. Big losers became bigger losers. Cruz is supposed to be very intelligent. Seems like in this case, not so much

Think about what you wrote and how your audience receives that statement. Your arrogance is showing and it is exactly out of the Obama and the Democrat playbook. Pretty hypocritical after Obama's "civility" lecture in Tucson after Gabby Giffords was shot.

You may harp all you want about the ACA passing into law but there will be eternal opposition to it in the manner that it was passed. With your argument, we would still have Prohibition.

So what is YOUR experience with ObamaCare or are you one of the exempt Obama cronies? I think ACA stinks and needs to be flushed into the sewer. I thank the Tea Party for standing up to principles in this increasingly over bureaucratized government. When the Government collapses of its own weight, where will YOU stand? Wouldn't it be better to put it on a diet before that happens? Don't you support individual responsibility instead of enslaving millions with dependency on the government?

I reject your attitude on several levels.

The state exchanges are not some kind of Gov enslavement. Its still the same insurance providers.

And once the games cease, the state exchanges are in place and the federal medicare extension funds applied, as is the law of the land as confirmed by the Supreme court, then we will then see how Obamacare works and what the prices are for insurance.

if your state doesn't comply, then the residents suffer from more expensive insurance options.

I reject your rejection.

See how pointless THAT is?

Exempt - hardly. As a military retiree, disabled vet and federal employee I have multiple options. But not everyone does so I generally support it. I also realize that access to decent medical care and preventative treatment saves us all money in the long run. Again, I'm not saying O'Care is perfect but there is process to deal with the program on its own merits and not make it a political circus.

I'd love to stay and argue but there's really no point. You won't change my mind and I won't change yours.

And I have to get stuff ready for work tomorrow.

Bottom line - your side lost this round. I'm sure there will be more rounds in coming months. Just bring your A game next time

: )
