Buellkowski,

How did you do signing up for O'care? Did you get a good deal? If you currently have your own coverage, you do understand that you will lose it in the near future. Are you ready to sign up for this?

We have to vote every one of these bastards out of office so we can repeal this POS. Join us, dude.

The fines and fees for non compliance and the amounts are listed in
Chapter 48; Section 5000A
And are deliniated as - Shall not exceed 300% of the value of the amount determined to be the 'stated amount' for base year 1 - that amount is
PHASE IN.—The applicable dollar amount is $95
for 2014 and $350 for 2015.
while 2016 is based on a derivative escalating indexed amount of value as benchmarked in year 1 so ....
INDEXING OF AMOUNT.—In the case of any calendar
year beginning after 2016, the applicable dollar amount
shall be equal to $750, increased by an amount equal
to—
‘‘(i) $750, multiplied by
‘‘(ii) the cost-of-living adjustment determined
under section 1(f)(3) for the calendar year, determined
by substituting ‘calendar year 2015’ for ‘calendar year
1992’ in subparagraph (B) thereof.
If the amount of any increase under clause (i) is not a
multiple of $50, such increase

The IRS has been assigned power to administrate, collect, audit and levy fines for this under the authority of the HHS Secretary
Your data will be reported as :
(c) NOTIFICATION OF NONENROLLMENT.—Not later than June
30 of each year, the Secretary of the Treasury, acting through
the Internal Revenue Service and in consultation with the Secretary
of Health and Human Services, shall send a notification to each
individual who files an individual income tax return and who is
not enrolled in minimum essential coverage (as defined in section
5000A of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986). Such notification
shall contain information on the services available through the
Exchange operating in the State in which such individual resides.

You incorrectly believe that the declaration in Section 1501 that states that the Secretary shall not lien or sieze accounts or property means that it will not occur - you will notice that there is no such imposition upon the Commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service, which under title 26 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 has the EXACT power to seize property, garnish wages, with-hold refunds, impose fines/penalties/interest and imprisionment. These actions were wide spread during the 90s and were one of the main causes of the Waco Tx fiasco - (you thought it was about radical religion ?!?!!?) and Senate sub committee hearing on ethics - and if you have been paying attention at how THIS administration has been using the IRS to tackle 'tea party' 'republican' 'freedom' groups under the non profit guidelines - you know that they will be used as bull dogs in a Thugocracy.
You are not paying attention if you think other wise.

This bill is about taxation, power, control, and revenue confiscation - there is no new care in it - not one F'n iota. Please show me the 'new' and 'improved' 'reform' of 'health' that is in the bill.

Hint there were 30 million uninsured before the bill (not counting the '11 million illegals' )
And after..... it is projected that there will still be 30 Million un'covered'
so what was the f'n point ?......
Control
Money
Power
Nothing More

Your Going Galt exemption is
"‘‘(3) INDIVIDUALS NOT LAWFULLY PRESENT.—Such term shall
not include an individual for any month if for the month the
individual is not a citizen or national of the United States
or an alien lawfully present in the United States."

ps - all fines are levied in base year modeled 'dollars' (2014)- what happens to the fines when a new currency is released........
Wait and see

Because then you could understand it.

Many professions have their own special language.

In the case of technical fields, it is for clarity and precision.

If for example I tell you that a glider I tested was divergent in pitch and showed a dutch roll of increasing amplitude as airspeed increased, any other competent pilot would know exactly what I meant. ( freaking deathtrap, lucky to land in one piece, would kill an inexperienced pilot. ) ( actual example, we tried to fix it before the next test flight. )

In the case of Law, the purpose is opacity and precision.

The lawyers want to keep their jobs. Almost all politicians are lawyers. The law is written to make it hard to understand unless you've been trained in the language, and the precision is to provide deliberate loopholes for folk that bribed the lawyer/politicians to write a law that would screw their competition and reward them. ( that is a bit cynical, but accurate IMHO )

300% of the value of the amount determined to be the stated amount...

Let me translate. "F&^k You."

I too am very curious of any (actual) positive feed back on this. I've gone back to the old job this week and am actually searching for insurance options. It's a bit more than a passing curiosity for me at this point. So far, I can't get past selecting my state.

Actually if you stay on the page I posted a pic of long enough, you do get a new page thanking you for your patience with a huge button that says "OK Lets Start". I clicked on that and got the same page back telling me to wait my turn.

I wonder what the IT budget was for this mess. I've worked on projects with budgets up are $30 million in private business. I've never seen anything close to this debacle though. This may prove to be the biggest IT failure ever.

BTW, I just got past the posted screen and was able to enter basic information to create an account. Clicked on the "Create Account" button and got this...

So I guess the Republicans were correct saying that the Individual Mandate is not ready for prime time. Amazing that the various governments are hiding the actual enrollment numbers....not. What a bunch of tinhorn dictators.

So how is the enrollment coming, Buellkowski?

Sifo,
That's not even the half of it.. The biggest issue is the security or lack there of. This IS a hackers wet dream. I know folks in the business (I was in enterprise data security for years) that were asked to contract for some of this. Most declined when they found out how hosed it was. The one that didn't bailed out because he knew it couldn't be fixed. And this is JUST the security part not the web access piece!
This thing had failure all over it before it even started. And that's just from an IT standpoint.
Stories will come out about this, they won't be pretty.

Bluzm2, I wish I could say I was the least bit surprised. I was simply pointing out that they failed to manage the simplest of tasks. No doubt they didn't do better on the more complex parts.

Buellkowski, what have you got to say about all of this? Did you actually purchase a plan? Froggy? Anyone?

As a native Kansan . . . and knowing that fellow Kansas KKS Secretary Sebelisu is in charge of this . . . well, I was eager to see how many Kansans to the program.

No one yet . . but eventually . . I'm sure someone will enroll.

Sebelius, as you know, is exempt and has great healthcare as a result of being among the chosen exempt classes.

quote:

Enrollment in the program has been weak so far. Kansas Rep. Tim Huelskamp said that no Kansans had signed up for Obamacare on the first day of the rollout. California’s Obamacare network failed to enroll even one person because of poor staff training.

"1-800-F**kYO " The customer service line for this mess - the irony is too deep to even tread into.

What is the IT budget........
For California state alone - They were allocated 990 MILLION for the establishment of the 'exchange' of which 250 MILLION was to be reserved for an outreach program and ads to tell people how great the new exchanges are ........

Follow the money - this is all about getting paid - and not a damn bit of care.

The policy requirements for 'individual coverage' only apply IF .... wait for it.... your company OFFERS individual coverage.
IF you do not participate in the individual market place as an 'insurance' entity -.... then the MLR ratio does not apply.

What does this mean
Insurance companies will DROP individual coverage - or fail to renew once the base line year is 'experienced' rated
*Aetna did this 18 years ago in Washington State - they announced in June that they would do the same in California - they are not participating in the individual market in California - period.
Larger companies, and union driven companies will opt out and self fund - driving down the enrollment coffers into ObamaCare further (because self funded trusts are exempt - watch this avenue explode in popularity - exactly as it did in Washington 18 years ago)
And finally - insurance companies will off shore, outsource, and expand into international markets - leaving the US without viable coverage as they pursue less hostile markets.
of note UGH has opened up into Latin America - with HQ in Brazil; and Aetna is reaching into the Middle East and South Asia markets - HQ in Singapore.......

Watch and Learn
This has all been done before
Getting it in early - and often lately.

I TOLD YOU SO.

ps 'indexing' means that for any base year that has a value of x to be multiplied by a variable of y .... gives you ultimate freedom in how much that penalty is going to be; especially when the dollars are 'indexed to 2014 values'.... so if in 2020 - the value of X due to inflation is not alloted for in the calculation.

remember prevailing wage in 1963 before the recall of silver and the realigning of currency was about 1.75 per hour in silver quarters..... go do the math on the equivalent value of the same weight of silver now .... how MANY dollars is that ?..... now index a fine based on an X year ....and guess how much your new fine will be.... be calm the IRS will TELL you.

So I managed to create an account this morning. I received an email to confirm the registration by clicking their link. That took me to a login page where every login attempt has failed. I clicked the "I forgot my password" (yes, I wrote down my user ID and password when I created them) to try to get it reset. They said they sent an email to the account used when I registered, but I'm not getting that email.

when I will bet you dollars to donuts there are already dead people on the dole.

if the vast majority of Americans don't sign up, and don't pay the resulting fine, wouldn't this be a display of civil disobedience that the government would have to reconcile with?
i'm no expert on political matters but I think civil disobedience might be the best solution to this problem.

By "sign up" do you mean get insurance? I want health insurance simply because I feel it makes sense for me. I don't need BO telling me to do so. You can, of course go without insurance under ObamaDontCare. It's just that come tax time, you will have to pay a penalty if you don't have proof of insurance. I'm not sure you really want to go down that road of civil disobedience. The IRS tends to play hardball, and they are beefing up the ranks as part of this law. They will simply, and quietly seize bank accounts, garnish wages, and if necessary foreclose on your house. You won't even be notified that they are seizing you banks accounts. (DMAHIK) The first you will know about is when your checks start bouncing. Be a real nuisance and they will toss you in jail.

I'm all for cutting a cable to walk into an open air memorial while the government is shut down. I'm not sure what act of civil disobedience you can get away with regarding ObamaDontCare. If you have a good idea, I've got my ears open though.

Civil Disobedience (Thoreau's companion work to Walden)
could be done.
few will.

It requires owning no property, holding no accounts and minimizing your digital foot print to nothing - to include the cell phone.

That would be seven silver quarters.

Per the web, on October 04, 2013 the total melt value for a single 1932-1964 silver quarter was $3.93.

7 x $3.93 = $27.51 per hour

Pretty easy to force insurance companies to provide a proof of insurance, similar to what many states do with car insurance. My guess is that with tax dollars at stake they can make a more fool proof method that can easily be checked electronically. This is the birth of forcing your healthcare records into an electronic format that can be easily tracked. It's potentially a great thing, unless you happen to believe that there may be someone who might be interested in misusing this information.

how do they know .....
that little digital tattoo provided to you via the Social Security Administration

they will run a report - to see if your number is there - and not finding it - will issue a fine .... maybe they even mail it to you.....
more likely they let the interest accrue - and just levy against your accounts upon your failure to pay; with interest and penalties ..... and flag you for IRS audit.

Enjoy the show
It is NOT about health care
if it were .... then why is it so easily exempted and dodged by the big corporations for a year .... must not have been a 'crisis'
and if you look at the OECD numbers -
there never was a crisis - it is pure climate change math and mantra - to a T

The ACA supporters here don't understand what you are saying. I suggest you write in a language that they understand so that they might join us in our opposition. We need everyone to educate themselves to see the danger that America is in.
