Brought this little guy home last night. 11 weeks, male, lady I got him from says he's australian shepherd/husky/lab mix. Sweet little thing, gorgeous green eyes. First night in the house, no mess. Been here about 12 hours, is already getting "down", "off", and "good boy" Morgan is having fun playing with him, but the pug still isn't quite sure what to do with him (although I had Kelsey - the pug - in the bed with him last night and there was no growling or unhappiness so I know they'll get along eventually).

Great picture in front of that tree! I'm thinking Uly, only the German pronunciation of Oolie. I knew a BMW mechanic of that name many years ago. |

Good on ya Joe, and congrats! I say "Beavis"... I really wanted to name our 2nd dog that, but my honey shot me down, and we went with "Rocky"... the name fits, but I still wish I could've had a Beavis in the house. My former neighbor and good buddy helped us name the new Basenji last year when we adopted him- he's now "D'Ogee". Yes, pronounced "D-O-G". Good luck and post up more pics, buddy! |

But then again...those green eyes remind me of the 2 girls in "Big Trouble in Little China" so name him after the star: Kurt/Kurtis Russell or as Jack Burton in the movie. then there is DINO!! |

Actually leaning towards another movie character. He's definitely a tough guy - already jumping and climbing and going after Morgan (twice his size) for playtime...makes me think of Andie MacDowell calling Bruce Willis a "tough guy" in Hudson Hawk. Wonder how Hudson would be for a name? Hmm... Meantime, he seems to be answering to "little man" and, naturally, "dude". |

Hudson sounds great Joe. Great looking pup, nice that he's joining the pack without trouble! Prolly a better name than the "Hal" for Hal Jordan, Green Lantern, on account'a the green eye's and all that. |

"Hudson" is cool, "Dude" is also kinda unique If he is responding to Dude, that may be the best bet... I have to admit I like Hudson.... |

I've been reading these dogs threads for years here on badweb, and I've wanted a dog for quite some time now. Due to my work schedule, I simply haven't had time to care for a dog. Working 10+ hours per day and leaving rover home alone is not fair. My daughter recently moved back to Texas to attend college, and we decided to get one, since, between the two of us, there will be plenty of time to spare. We found a 10 year old Shi Tzu at a shelter that was given up due to "a change in life circumstance". When we got there, we found that he was given up along with another dog, and since they had been raised together, we went home with both of them. "Lil Bit" (not what I would have gone with) and Buddy, a Cocker Spaniel, seem well adjusted and friendly. Buddy is a bit on the portly side, but is on diet food now. I hope they accept me into their pack |

good on you! I love to hear stuff like that. I keep looking at senior dogs... I don't get how someone can have a dog for 10 years, then give them up because of "a change in life circumstance". |

I figured kenneling them would be good for them for their first night in a strange place. Nope. They both whimpered until three in the morning when I let them out. They immediately went to their beds in my daughter's room and didn't make another sound all night. I found Lil Bit (I think we're just going to call him Bit) curled up under my daughter's arm on her bed in the morning. These dogs were obviously well loved, and kept close by their previous person. I imagine giving them up must have been extremely difficult for her. Sorry for hijacking your thread Joe, but it seemed as good a place as any. |

Hoot- post pics! The good dawgie threads, music and jokes keep me engaged in the QB, much more so than the other... Also- given the circumstance of their arrival at the shelter, could/would there be any way to let the previous owner know that they've been re-homed? I dunno if that's even a good idea, but it might be very nice for the previous owner to at least know. There have been a lot of pets surrendered to shelters in the past several years due to the economy, a real heartbreaker there. Our shelter had a piece in the paper yesterday that they are in need of more volunteers- if I ever got my honeydo list beaten back I'd love to go help out. |

The folks at the shelter said they would let her know. I also have her name and contact info from the rabies vaccination transfer forms. I don't know whether contacting her is a good idea either. They also let the vet who volunteers there know that Bit and Buddy had been adopted. Apparently they were her favorites. |
