I propose a test of Dyna Beads: Purpose: Find the facts How to conduct the test: 1. Mount speedometer on rear wheel of 26" bicycle. 2. With bicycle upside down, spin the rear wheel up to 30 mph. Note how much the bike bounces. 3. Put fishing sinkers on one spoke till you get a nice bounce going at 30 mph with the bike upside down. check the tire pressure. 4. Remove the valve core and add Dyna Beads. Install core. Air up to previous pressure. Spin it up to 30 mph and note any changes. 5. Report it back to this thread. I do not have any Dyna Beads, or I would do the test. |

noooo. The wheel has to be upon the ground. Remember that a radial tire is flat at the contact patch. That is to say the magic beads would be repeatedly bounced off the inner surface of the tire. You know like one of those toddler things?
Every demo of dynabeads online has a wheel suspended and spun up. The more I think it over the more I am smelling oil of snake. |

Exactly, Just mounted up some Q 2's without any weights or balancing just to see how bad it is. So far- no problems or vibration. Will take them "up to speed" today |

Nate's right. The magic beads are only supposed to work with a wheel on the ground. I'm not even going to pretend to understand why. I still say the correct procedure is... 1) Add weights to a wheel until you can feel it's out of balance at xx MPH. 2) Add magic beads to wheel. 3) Check again at xx MPH. Either the out of balance will be better or it won't. I will reserve any opinion on this until I hear of this being done by this method. |

I just had my mechanic locally (I finally found one) that spooned on a new tire for me the beginning of May. He uses Dyna Beads. When I asked about them he said that is all he uses and that they are cheaper for the customer. "Ok" I said. We did a thousand mile weekend into WV and I noticed nothing different if anything less shake at high speeds (now that I think back). I really didn't even think about it this whole time until I read this thread. YMMV. Just putting that out there... |

There's nothing magic about them. We've been using similar stuff in 18 wheeler tires for years if not decades. You want a wild ride? Drive an 18 wheeler with an out of balance steer tire.... |
