So who's going? I'm heading up Monday night. Gomo will be there all week. I'll be staying with friends at The Lakeside Cottage Rentals.

Hope to see some of you up there! This is the first time in over ten years I'll be going for more than just a day.

How funny! I just drove past that place on 9 today on my way back to Stowe. Nice area, to bad I was driving a 20 ft U-Haul. I did have a Buell in the back that needs to be unloaded tomorrow (along with an atv and snowmobile). Good luck and have fun!

Got up here last night. It was dramatically COLDER up here than when I left Long Island! What was worse was my planned "halfway stop" (the diner on the Taconic on Rigor Hill Road) was CLOSED. So was the gas station across the street. WTF??

I stopped anyway so I could zip up the vents in my Darien jacket. Had I known how much colder it was going to get, I would've installed the liner too. Still, not having the cold air flowing through the jacket itself was a big help. Got to Lake Luzerne at 11:00.

Are any other Bad Webbers onsite this week?

Well, I took a Yamaha YZF-R1 for a demo ride today. Terrific, seamless power, wonderful handling and there's that awesome SOUND of the cross-plane engine.

However, the ride (which was surprisingly long on some decent twisties) was enough to convince me that high-end superbikes are now OFFICIALLY on my "Murtagh List" (ie: I'm getting too old for this s***).

Here's hoping EBR comes out with some affordable sporting STREET bikes for people like me. Something like my old Cyclone (but with 200% better reliability and quality) would be the ticket!

Dang, it couldn't be any farther away from me. Gonna be 106* here on Saturday; I'll take some of that cold weather right about now.

I was hoping to ride a BMW F800GT but they were all claimed by the time I got to the sign up. Oddly enough, the R1200GS, with the new generation liquid-cooled boxer engine, was still available so I took that one instead.

Who'd've guessed the mid-sized sport-tourer would be more attractive than the next generation boxer? Hope EBR is paying attention and gives us a nice, all-around, sport touring motorcycle that one could ride for HOURS without discomfort...

Got back home yesterday. Surprising absence of three BIG vendors this year. No Kurakyn, Corbin or Mustang! Also, the only tire vendor I saw was Dunlop. Not looking good at all.

There were at least two vendors of aftermarket trike conversions onsite giving demos, as well as Can Am... is THAT where the touring market is going?

On the bright side, after a loooooooong absence it was good to see Suzuki back with demo bikes.

Here's a photo of our host (and part owner) of the Lakeside Cottages in Lake Luzerne. His older brother Steve overlooks a "Boardwalk Empire:"

This is my 7th year going and this year I only saw one other Buell. I usually see a few more. Americade is not exactly a Buell event but in years past HD used to have one or two to test ride.

Didn't do any test rides this year but did have some great rides on nearly empty roads well up in the hills. Next year I need to remember to take my pollen remover along.

If you wanted to see Buells you should have been there a couple of weeks earlier for the ADK.
