Last week I dropped my little Acer netbook, broke the hinge but it kept running. When I tried to fire it up the next time, gray screen with a message I didn't understand. As I was away at the time, in Munich, I found a computer repair specialist who tested it for me & told me the Hard drive was shot. Crap. So it's not really worth repairing, I might as well just replace it. I want one with a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 if possible. Any recommendations? What about Chromebooks? Not a net book, but the Microsoft Surface Pro is freaking amazing. I would avoid Chrome books if you plan on doing anything that is not web browsing. |

How about Office Suite compatibility (both ways) with the new system? Do a TON of Word, Powerpoint, Excel. |

That Surface pro looks pretty cool but is way more than I'm prepared to pay & like most electronic stuff (phones, computers, cameras etc) is stuffed full of features that I have to pay for but, in all probability, will never use. Most of my use will be internet linked, but I'll need to be able to write & read "word" & powerpoint documents, open & make zip files, edit & adjust photos, create & read pdf files, basic stuff. I could probably do it all on a tablet, but I just don't like them, I'm adjusted to the dual interface of keyboard for entry & screen for display, & I haven't found one that doesn't make me "grrrrr" after a couple of minutes use. |

Grumpy, Chromebooks can do all the things you just mentioned. |

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1? What is it you are wanting to do with it should be the first question you ask. |

I've got a samsung Galaxy Ace phone, which is OK but I want a real computer, not an overgrown phone. I'm a bit leery of Chromebooks as I've read that you need to be connected to the web to do most stuff on it & I want something I can carry about with me & wont always have an internet connection. I want one with an 11" screen so that I can have 1024 x 768 resolution for various stuff including mlb tv which needs that as a minimum. |
