There is an interesting store developing about an Eagle Scout that accidently brought his shot gun to school, locked it in the trunk and then called his mother to pick it up. The really odd twist is the school administrators are being treated differently then the students. From the ABC artical,"An assistant principal at Cole's school was suspended for three days, but never criminally charged." Cole has received felony charges and the media outlets are saying different things about Cole being able to graduate and expolusion. I feel bad about saying this but WTF did he use the school office for that phonecall? If he had just stayed quiet, no one would have even known. I can't even tell you the number bad things were in the back of my car at school. The difference? I didn't tell anyone. I didn't take them out or open my trunk. | ||

Wow The local school here has skeet shooting as a school spring sport. This country has way to many busy bodies that need to get their head out of their arse. | ||

I went to HS school in a town of about 5000 in MT. Many people drove trucks....and I would say 80%+ of those trucks had gun racks with rifles and or shotguns. Guess how many people were shot in the 4 years I went to the school. 0. Granted, my graduating class was like 125 but come on. It was an honest mistake and he meant no one any harm. He is going to have a felony on his record for doing the right thing and having his mother come pick up the gun. Who needs common sense, lets just blindly prosecute everyone without taking anything else into context. It's like the kids sending "sexts" to each other, being prosecuted for child porn and having to register on the sex offender database...its mind boggling. | ||

From what I read, he was skeet shooting over the weekend and forgot to grab it out of the car when he got home. School official does not get a felony, but the kid does????? So it's ok to ruin the boy's life, but not an administrator that may one day "become" principle!!!!! | ||

If he had just stayed quiet, no one would have even known. He had a pickup truck didn't he. Probably had nowhere to get it out of site. Even when I went to school they had people walking the student parking looking into cars to see what they could see. It's sad that he did the responsible thing after an honest mistake that hurt NOBODY, and gets this ridiculous overreaction. Great life lesson that they just taught him! | ||

This has nothing to do with rules. This is intimidation, it is planned, and deliberate. Wear a shirt with the Minuteman on it with a flintlock rifle, and get expelled. They will punish anyone, and everyone to have control over you. That's the policy. Good thing I'm not the Father. I'd end up in jail. I understand the kid got a scholarship to Liberty University because of this. There are some good people in the world, and apparently the University Prez is one of them. ( why do I suspect a child rapist coach wouldn't get a cover up there? Well, maybe with a backhoe. ) | ||

One of the main tenants of liberalism/progressivism is the complete abdication of responsibility. In this case the abdication is to the "rules". It keeps anyone in "authority" from having to make a decision on their own or make a judgment call. The line always used is "Well, I have to follow the rules". When the stupidity or absurdity of a "rule" is brought to light the response is always "My hands are tied, rules are rules". They are paralyzed with fear that they might be accused of bias if a judgement call is made. Someone might sue them or they might loose their job if another party disagrees with their decision. Because of their brain lock ups, they see no difference between a kid that is a Eagle Scout that forgets his competition shotgun in his truck and a gang banger that has his "gat" is his locker. I ran into examples of this when my kids were in school. I had some quite heated discussions with principals and administrators over some of the most simple things. They are so messed up they can spout rules so that you can't use a hammer as a hammer! (simple example but accurate) Idiots... |
