Well my life is changing and I am starting a new job in June. I recently bought a travel trailer to live in and need a good place to stay near the Smyrna area. Anyone in the Nashville area know of any good RV parks on the east side of Nashville? Found a few but just seeing if anyone knows if they are good or not.

Smyrna/Lavergne should have a fair amount of nice spots for you to land in...

I grew up in Mt. Juliet, know a lot of the backroads between there and Murfreesboro. Check around the Fate Sanders area, which is on the water around Percy Priest lake. Also the south/west sides of Lebanon- lots of good country, not all overdeveloped as of my last look.

Last time I rode the Buell in Nashville, I got with Jeremy (ft) and had a good day's ride all around there. Also check in with Barker- you hook in with one of them, you'll prolly hook in with all. Also be sure to go meet Tom Bumpus- his dealership is right on the main drag between Smyrna and Murfreesboro. If any one person should know that area, he's your man.

When you've got a little down time at the 'puter, check out the city's weekly rag-

www.nashvillescene.com

Always good stories and info on goings-on there. The main daily paper is the "Tennessean".

Good luck, and when free time hits, come on up to E. TN for some GREAT riding!

I love E. TN. Spent a lot of time in Cosby area. Been trying to get a job in that area for the last 2 areas. May have a chance up in the Maryville area but still waiting to see. I could spend a lot of time riding and enjoying the roads and the Mountains.

Found a few places by Lebanon but may look around Murfreebboro also.

Thanks for the info on Bumpus. I need a front seal done on the Uly and a new battery. So maybe once I get settled I will get things hooked up.

Cosby? Ever been to the Front Porch? I bet Cosby should be having a ramp festival soon...

Keep us posted, buddy!

I believe I have been there before. Not sure on the festival. Haven't been up that way since March. I am looking forward to the possibility of being up in Maryville area full time. But I will take the Nashville area for now if it doesn't work out.

BTW, your listed profile is mechanical engineer- what type of work are you looking for?

I left Nashville in 1990 to move to Knoxvegas- both cities have changed drastically. Nashville has a LOT going on as far as a cool "scene"... I remember when downtown 2nd avenue was a ghost town- except for the cool bars you had to look for or know about. Murfreesboro has absolutely blown up compared to when I went to school there, lots of cool places now. And, the road from M'Boro to Franklin is AWESOME for a twisty road... or was, in my 25YO memory of it...

Holler if I can help you around here in E. TN...

Sadly, I'm no longer in Nashville. I lost my job and relocated to take a new position. I'm not far away though. Just a couple of hours away in Northwest Alabama.

I am currently a maintenance manager for Hyundai in Montgomery, AL. I am looking for maintenance positions or mechanical engineering positions in manufacturing. Currently looking at Nissan and Alcoa in the TN area. Looking to get out of the automotive game and try something new but got to go where the jobs are I guess. It is time for me to move on from where I am at.

I'm sure you're aware of it, but Volkswagen just recently opened (and may expand) a plant outside of Chattanooga. I have a cousin working there.

As far as cool cities go, Chattanooga ranks right up there... I've always enjoyed visiting.

FWIW, I'm driving a '92 Nissan Hardbody that was made in Smyrna- dang thing will probably outlast me! LOVE that truck...

Yeah VW is an option. I didn't know if they were looking for maintenance or engineers. I have an interview in Alcoa, TN next week with Alcoa for an engineering position. I hope it goes good. That is the area I really want to move to.

You'll be right down the road from me- I live about 5 blocks from Maryville College.

If you come or go using TN321, go visit my old dealership buddies. You can grab a heckuva good BBQ lunch and a cold beer there too. Or, I've plenty of other suggestions.

Good luck!

I hope it all goes well. I love the mountains and all the offerings in the area. It is really where I want to end up but can only give it the 110% try to land the job.

We will have to hook up if I do get it. I need some ride time.

Thanks for the information.

I am going to be near Nashville on next Monday so maybe I will drive around the area to check some things out in the area.

Have an interview on Thursday in Alcoa so if I get a chance in the afternoon I am going to look around the area there.

I hope all goes well on Thursday cause that is really where i want to move to. But I will take the Smyrna area which I already know I have.

There is a great route from Smyrna to the Dragon, but it is a lot shorter trip from Alcoa.

Well when I make it up to either place I may have to make that trip. As soon as I get the Uly back running. Needs a battery and new fork seals.

Yeah was actually there for my interview and heard the announcement from the plant president. Is great news for the entire area. adding 200 jobs over next 2 years. production suppose to start 2015.

I believe I did a great job at the interview. I think they liked me and my experience. Maybe in the next 2 months I will be living in the Townsend area.

It would make me a very happy person.

Check out E. Miller's Cove in Walland- it's a backroad that runs all the way to PF- once it goes Sevier county, it's Walden's Creek...

Nice all the way through, just watch for ya-hoos running the road. Some killer rental properties out there, if you need to recon.

"Brother's Cove" is one we've stayed at- looks like they had to use Skycranes to build the damn place.

Stayed at two different cabins there in Brothers Cove. It is a wonder how they get those cabins built. Walden's creek is a great road. Only been on it in the cage but still great. Took John's Cove Rd with the bike a couple times. Love that ride.

Well it is not the Nashville area that I will be moving too. I have accepted a position with Alcoa as a Mechanical Engineer. I will be in the Smokies by July 1st. I am so excited. This is a great career change for me. I am getting out of management and having to work 60 to 80 hours a week and back to a normal say 50 hour work week. Plus Alcoa from the sounds of it is a great place to work and you can't beat the benefits from what I see so far.

Great news there, buddy! Good luck with the house-hunting- wait, didn't you say you're gonna be living in a mobile home? Do tell... there are gonna be plenty of nice places to drop that thing when the time comes.

By all means, give me a holler when you're heading this way for some recon. There are several lurker/inactive members on BW here locally, Vern and I seem to be the more prolific poster kids here.

Good on ya! I'm heading to Nashvegas Saturday to see my sis and stepdad briefly... to me, having been in E. TN since 1990, Nashville has become too much like Atlanta, just TOO big. Lots of fun to be had, but... aint missing a thing here!

Yeah, I have an RV that I am living out of right now. Maybe in the future I will house hunt but I am happy with living without debt right now. I have a few places on WearsValley Road and in Townsend that I am looking to park at. Only a 30-40 min ride to work and great areas for rest and relaxation. I love to hike at Cades Cove so I will enjoy the area. Also, not far from my girl who I pray someday will be my wife.

You need to stop in and talk to my bosses- their original location for Foothills Milling Company was in Wears Valley, can't think of anyone else better to help you.

Shoot me a PM sometime with your # and we'll get together!

Looks like probably Cove Mountain or Cove Creek for staying right now. Seem to have nice resorts for parking long term. Not bad for monthly rent either. Getting excited already.

Well as of June 15th I will be an East Tennessee resident. I am moving to Cove Creek on Wears Valley Road in Sevierville. Got some work to do on the Uly to get it ready to ride. I am sure I will have plenty of time for a change. Maybe I'll see some of you up there and we can hang out.

These guys do a podcast from Nashville, to "prove that Nashville is not all about finger picking and sister banging anymore."

If you like hard rock, they know the local scene.

Yo- if ya wanna work on becoming a local, do check out "East Tennessee's Own" WDVX, listener-supported public radio (not NPR affiliated, that's 91.9FM)...

www.wdvx.com

They'll be at 89.9FM, with some area-specific low wattage support frequencies that will differ- but they're the BEST tunes available (at least until you get to the Disc Exchange in S. Knox), and they're all great peeps.

Their first "studio" was a single-axle camping trailer in Norris, now they've got a live studio inside the E. TN visitor's center downtown.

Check out their webcast, and enjoy!
