Anybody going to Torque Fest in Dubuque IA? It's a traditional Hot Rod, Custom, Vintage Cycle Show. I'm leaving Thurs. (5-2) for the 300+ mile road trip in my '30 model A, with my dad and a couple of friends. It's my first time at this show and the farthest I've taken my car. Should be fun. Just wondering if anyone from here was going.

I'm going to spectate and get some ideas for my '29 Model A hi-boy coupe project.
I'm building more of a street rod rather than a "traditional" car. I'm hoping my frame will arrive by the first of the month from Blackboard Hot Rods so the fun can begin!!

Anybody else? Maybe I'll see you there Gearhead.
I got the car packed and ready to go. Been driving it this week to make sure all is good for the long trek.

It's cleaned up now and most of the snow is gone.

shit! i didnt see either of you guys there...!

that slammed red chevy in the first couple posts of the jalopy journal is a friend of mines. its a sharp ride!

anyway, it was my birthday weekend, and just like last year we decided to go to torque fest. although this year, being in dubuque, it worked better since Jenns family is all around there to give Lucas a place to hang out while we party!

we showed up in town later on friday, and opted out of TF to instead bar hop downtown with jenns brother and sister inlaw and a couple of my friends that came along.

and of course some interesting shots...

anyway, after a loooong night, we rolled into torque fest just intime for it to start pooring mid day!

luckily it was short lived, and i was somewhat regretting not cruising down in the shortbox even though its 5 years to new to get into the show. but when we rolled out from the house it looked like this...

so i had decided to get myself soaked and snowy/muddy playing on my newest steal id picked up the night before we rolled out!

now onto the cars, and maybe a hot chick

i was drooling over this sweet old GMC burb and stopped traffic to take a pic... it would look good next to my gmc!

FIRE FIRE HEHEHE

i think they called it Dolly...

AND...... being the gentleman i am, i had to help Jenn to and from the truck. i dont think she would have made it far in those heels!

we stopped to get some fuel, and when Jenn gets back in, she got me a birthday cookie!

then we decided the 2 of us would take a cruise down the river road since we had no real plan, and nowhere to be...

stopped in balltown to take in the view and have some food at Breitbach's

i took in a little more of a view then she did ; )

and topped the weekend off with breakfast buffet at Timmerman's Supper Club!

it was a pretty damn good weekend!

Been a long time since I have been to Timmerman's. I grew up around that area. Lots of fun was had in E. Dubuque. My family is still back that way I am sure many of them were walking around all those beautiful cars. Miss going to the shows with my dad.

18 years and out. Go back to visit only. After I graduated college I was gone for good. But a lovely area, spent a lot of time on the river growing up.

I wish I knew you were going to be there Tim. I guess I should have PMed you.
I know the guy with the gasser corvair. Would you believe that it's set on a S-10 frame. He did a great job and I think that was my favorite car there. Or the green fenderless four door "A" like mine.

well im pretty sure we will head there again next year since it will also be in dubuque...

that corvair was my kind of cool, that meaning it was something different. really, i mean when have you seen someone make a corvair into a gasser style ride besides this one?!

a little google search proved they do exist, you just never see one!

i gravitated towards that slammed green gmc for obvious reasons... lol!
