Second story about it I have seen.

Still haven't seen a single useful fact.

Thanks Reep- like I said, I just scanned the piece, and better minds than mine here on the BW might shed some more insight.

Gotta have hope though- "where there's smoke..."

Yeah, might be a battery on fire.

I have to agree, that was very short on any facts. They basically claim to have achieved the holy grail of battery power. Even assuming that to be true, can it be mass produced and at what price? It could open the door to great new electric all kinds of stuff, or it may prove completely unusable in the real world. I'm certainly not putting my gas bikes up for sale yet.

the article at nature communications appears to have a lot of information. I didn't want to pay to check it out. If anything its a step in a direction(hard to say good or bad yet).

0-70 in 3.9 seconds....supercar killer!

If it seems too good to be true...

I'll believe it when I can buy it; at a reasonable cost.

It's actually quite simple - they're using interdigitated three-dimensional bicontinuous nanoporous electrodes.

Cool. Let's get it to market and start changing the current energy paradigm!

Here's some more info with construction details and progress of these "interdigitated three-dimensional bicontinuous nanoporous electrode batteries" thanks to the monthly Shorai newsletter.

until then
maybe a nice electric and pedal hybrid :

all off the shelf parts, except for the frame, and his kit is supposed to give you all the bends, measurements and part sourcing to build it.

not affiliated with them at all - I just really dig the build and the retro style to it.
