The Carbon 15 is the most hideous AR I've even come across. Puts a new meaning to the old Mattel rifle moniker the old guys like to use.
Mosins are cool. They were selling for $80-$90 not long ago. They seem to be increasing in popularity, making it easier to find ammo locally for my PSL.
The short mosins are especially fun to shoot, they put on quite the pyrotechnic display. Many will seize the bolt if you shoot them enough that they start getting hot... This would be a problem on many guns, but not on a Mosin. Because its a Mosin, you just pound the bolt back open with your foot, a rock, or the nearest panzer, and start shooting again.
Another great under-appreciated brand is CZ. Fantastic utility handguns, rifles, and shotguns. Think German designers with Russian pragmatism.
It's scary as all hell to think that a SWAT team member would ever not notice that his optics were mounted backward, much less show up at an actual live action SWAT call. That doesn't seem to say much about the training police get in NY. It's hard not to notice that the reticle doesn't show up when you turn it on, assuming you have a clue what that thing is supposed to do for you. I also wonder if the one with his finger resting on the trigger of the shotgun is actually about to shoot that thing? Not very good trigger control being displayed IMO.
There are so many puns about this backwards optic.
Went to a gun show this afternoon. Too many rubes are out there buying stuff. Watched a guy pick up a carbine, bolt closed, and look down the barrel from the muzzle.
AR-7's are sweet. Easy to clean, surprisingly accurate. Fairly rudimentary peep sight, though, and you can't fold it with a scope on. Sight works, once you've zero'd it, but not a Williams for ease of zero'ing.
I had a Charter Arms early model that was overstamped from Armalite stock. Allow barrel with steel liner. Floated.
Henry makes them now.
Actually an excellent choice in the "one gun" thread....

not my choice in weapon but not the worst AR I've seen I cant recall the company, but theres a brand (aftermarket style company or something) that makes one with an externally twisted barrel and skulls all over it. HORRIBLE!
I bought another AK last weekend. I think I am going to give it to my brother-in-law. It came with a drum and 500 rounds of ammo. Some guy used it for hunting, it had a 3X9 mounted on the bolt cover...EEK! gotta get some serious optics!
Not a bullpup fan here. Slower to reload, only a few are fully ambidextrous (being able to instantly go from one shoulder to the other is good), funky balance, poor triggers, long lengths of pull, and generally poor ergonomics.
The AUG is nice, but a bit heavy, and a terrible trigger. The FS2000 is nice, but is very bulky. The PS90 is nice, but I'm not a huge fan of the caliber. The RFB is actually pretty nice, but it's still a bit too funky for me, and isn't known for great accuracy.
It varies from barrel to barrel, YMMV, 1x9 twist is good for all the lighter bullets, and works fine for me with 62 gr. OTM Black Hills. I noticed 68 gr. OTM's weren't as accurate, but they didn't tumble, and mostly the local Gander didn't have them, just the 62's. ( this last summer )
Haven't tried 77's, but they may not work as well. The "regular" 55 gr. Win. white box and Rem. bulk packs work perfectly with that twist.
AMMO SIFO you can never have too much unless the plane cant fly or the boat sinks in either case fire some off till you get your weight and balance correct
I've actually never seen those before. Conventional AR mags over 30rds have had a dubious reputation. ProMags in general tend to be a bit of a crap shoot for reliability to begin with. I'd stick with Magpul or the various GI specs in a 30rd capacity or less.
That Tavor video is great! I was in Israel last year and they are everywhere. Awesome gun!
20 years ago when I was there the fighters had Galils, which were basically AKs chambered for .223. The cooks and girls had Uzis. Now it's all M-16s (M-4s) and Tavors.
