The way I read it was, the wheelbase was too short so hard launches rotated the front end up (wheelied), so they were not able to use the hook they had in the tire. With a longer wheelbase they could launch harder without wheelie-ing, netting lower ET's. Perfectly valid. | ||

You could have a 12 second reaction time (RT) and still run a 9 second pass. its pulling the wool over the eyes of the uneducated on dragracing. shame. | ||

Sure but your 9 second pass will get recorded as a 21 second pass. ET is total elapsed time, including RT. | ||

And that is why you can have a quicker ET and still lose the race. Happens all the time in drag racing. Many bracket racers actually chose a class that is about .5 seconds slower than their bike can actually run for this reason. That way they can hopefully get a good RT and get enough lead so they can "wheel race" their opponent. (Message edited by buelliedan on April 04, 2013) | ||

In any bracket class, it is very wise to have a combination that can deliver regardless of conditions. A racer that consistently wins does so by the formula of consistency regarding processes, set up, and historical and current data to predict the ET. I'm old, but some things never change. I have been a winner, and have associated with and raced against some of the best in the business. Some days you get the bear, and some days the bear gets your. | ||
