Nice to see you check in here Crusty. I agree that it's nice to see stocks going up. Personally I've gained about $45K since the beginning of the year. How are average Americans doing with this? Do you understand that these gains are nothing but a bubble that is being created by a policy of printing dollars? What happens when the printing stops? What happens if the printing doesn't stop? Neither scenario really helps the average working stiff that the Democrats claim to care so much about. Care to comment?

I'm working. I'm earning a living. The money spent to help Good Ol' "W" get even with that mean old Saddam for makin' his daddy look bad has to come from somewhere, right?
The honest bottom line is that it doesn't matter which party is in office; the average American is going to take it in the shorts. Good Ol' Georgie boy created the new American Gestapo to make sure we're all "Good Americans". Dingdong wants to disarm us so we can't resist governmental decrees forcibly.
The older I get, the more I realize that George Orwell was dead on center.
Do you remember the line from Animal Farm, "All animals are created Equal, but some are more Equal than others"? Take a look at the Legislature. While they're falling over each other explaining how and why they have to cut Social Security Benefits to the people who've paid into it all their working lives, they get to collect 100% of their salary for life with 100% free medical coverage. Then, they'll turn around and give billions in Foreign Aid to countries that hate America.
If you really believe that one Party is better than the other, then please tell me which is worse; a Liberal Republican or a Conservative Democrat?

It likely to burst soon. We've moved a lot of assets to funds that are set up to allow rapid shifts to protect value if things shift. Still we are thinking of doing some major changes on our own. The good news, I just checked online, and I'm up another $22K so far since the end of February statement, so about $67K since the beginning of the year. It's all paper though and can change in a hurry.

The irony of all this is that it's the rich that will benefit most from this, not the typical blue collar worker that BO claims to be watching out for, much less the poor. These policies just widen the gap between the haves and the have nots. Is this really what people had in mind when they voted for BO?

Time to give up on the cost of the Iraq war bit too. Total cost has been around $800 billion.* Our yearly deficit spending has been over a trillion every single year. It's over now and our deficit spending is going UP not down. Iraq isn't/wasn't/never will be the problem we face with our budget. I'm not totally sold on what we did in Iraq, but compared to the nation building we got into in Afghanistan, it was a stroke of genius. At some point, something had to change with what was the status of Iraq back then. A decision was made. It's something that is completely foreign to BO. Decisions just aren't his thing, especially big ones. Right now, decisions NEED to be made on our budget.

Well Crusty, I see you've just ignored the topic at hand.
Oh! I thought that was a standard tactic on these political threads.

Something real is always worse than something fictional.
Sometimes, something real is better than something fictional.

I'm not totally sold on what we did in Iraq, but compared to the nation building we got into in Afghanistan, it was a stroke of genius. At some point, something had to change with what was the status of Iraq back then.
What was the status? What did we gain? What is the justification for invading a country that was no threat to us whatsoever? Iraq had UN inspectors keeping an eye on things. Alfred E. Newman's dumber brother declared loudly and repeatedly that he had "Positive proof that Iraq was harboring weapons of mass destruction". Funny how they never were found; then, years later we get, "Oops; our informant was mistaken."

You don't get it. They ALL lie. Obama is no better nor any worse than any other President. There is no difference between the two parties. They all have their agendas and will stop at damn near nothing to achieve them. They want to keep an eye on any potential troublemakers, and make it impossible for them to challenge their position.
I honestly believe that all politicians in Washington should wear uniforms, like NASCAR drivers do, so we could identify their corporate sponsors.

I do get that they all lie. You don't get that the two parties are far from the same though. I don't say that simply because we disagree, but because you actually claim there is no difference. That statement right there scares the freaking hell out of me. If you mean what you say, then you are simply blind to the evils being done to our nation. Yet you seem bent on support for a single party. That seems to imply dishonesty in your previous statements about believing the parties to be the same. What am I to think?

Crusty, I'll even agree that deposing Saddam wasn't maybe the best thing to do. I think the peace keeping/nation building part after we beat Iraq was a total up, and would be happy to speculate with you on how that kind of thing would be better to avoid in the future.

One question aside, if there were no WMD's, why are the British helping the Iraqi's destroy them?

I do disagree that the parties are identical. Both full of cr**, at the Party Leader level? Sure.

We do, however have bigger things to worry about.

http://washington.cbslocal.com/2013/03/14/obama-sa ys-iran-a-year-away-from-nuclear-weapon/

Heck, Iran has been 5 years away for well over a decade.... I coulda built one by now with their money. Not a missile deliverable one, but a Ryder Truck model. Still, even though I suspect Obama of lying to me when he makes noises, this could be a problem.

How do you all think the Prez should handle it?

Then there's Korea. I know we don't really take them seriously, but they really can flatten Seoul and murder millions of people with conventional weapons already in place.

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB100014241278873245 32004578362570462466896.html?mod=WSJ_WSJ_US_News_5

I'm of the Uninformed technical opinion that N. Korea probably can't hit, say, Seattle, with a nuke on a missile this week. I doubt their accuracy. ( not that it wouldn't suck to be in the missed warhead's actual landing place. )

Far more likely is a nuke in a shipping container. From Korea or Iran.

Opinions? Suggestion to prevent this crap?

Why do you think I'm bent on support for a single party? Because I disagree with many of the things you believe in? Or because I've shown support for some political clowns that you don't like? Why do you ignore the items we agree on?
What's the difference between Dick Cheney receiving a large "Retirement" bonus from Haliburton when he got elected Veep; then Haliburton getting "No bid" contracts after the invasion on Iraq, and the great gift to the Health Insurance industry that Obamacare is giving?
Now a question for you; Since you seem to be locked into the "one party is right and the other is wrong" mindset, what did you do to help your party in the last election? Did you volunteer your time or help voters without transportation to get to the polls? If you were too busy with work, like I was, did you donate any cash to them? In other words, did you do anything to help what you fervently claim to believe in?
And to set the record clear, I am neither a Liberal nor a Conservative. I look at issues and make my own decisions. On some things, I'm so conservative that I'm almost a Nazi; or other issues, I'm so liberal that I'm almost a Socialist.

So you are being completely dishonest. That puts you right in the same boat as the politicians that you criticize. It's good to know where you stand.

Why should Cheney not get his retirement bonus? I believe you are talking about stock options that he earned while working for Haliburton. Nothing unusual going on there at all. The "no bid" contract Haliburton got was actually bid for under Clinton. Again, nothing unusual going on there, just you trying to create some conspiracy out of random events. Great gift to the Insurance industry from BO care? That remains to be seen. It's likely to put them right out of business. It was predicted by those that opposed BO care that it would drastically raise the cost of insurance causing companies to drop the benefit, and leaving it far too expensive for average people to afford on their own forcing them into the state run insurance programs that the states can't afford, pushing it off to the feds creating a single payer system. This is exactly what we are currently seeing happen and it hasn't been fully implemented yet. This "gift" is the end of private health insurance in this country. We happen to be looking VERY closely at this right now, as we are right in the middle of this looking for new private insurance because we are loosing our group insurance. Right now they are saying insurance costs are likely to double under the "Affordable Care" act. This isn't increased profits for the insurance companies, but the last convulsions of the industry being put out of business forever.

Bottom line, you seem far too poorly informed, or simply too dishonest to have a real conversation with. I'm not really sure which, but you seem to own up the dishonesty, so perhaps we should chalk it up to that.

What did I do to help the Republican cause? Darn little, since the candidates that survived the Chicago Way assaults were not what I approved of. (I donated a bit of money, but not time. I work for a living ) Yes, I thought Romney a better choice than Obama, but I also thought any warm blooded life form would be better. So that's damning Romney with faint praise.

Much politics boils down to "My lying sack of cat crap is better than your lying sack of cat crap." Doesn't help the dialog of what to do about our problems, but it's true.

In the case of this administration, it's not just the personal dislike for a narcissist, ( an epithet AND observation of character that fits more than Obama.... Trump, for example ) It's a case of continuous rise in unemployment, real inflation, loss of personal liberty, and even more undeclared wars and debacles on the foreign policy front.

Now, the Leaders of the R party, like the Leaders of the D party, and the President all think you are an idiot, a fool, and a peasant to be exploited in your ignorance and greed.
They like me even less. I'd be perfectly happy to have the current idiot power brokers in the R party deposed. I'm even less happy with the folk like Pelosi ( for example ) that live high on the hog on your dime and think themselves above you. Just listen to her. Damn.

While I can agree with you on some things, you show a woeful ignorance of history and fact by thinking the National Socialist Workers Party "conservative" and the Socialist Party "liberal". The reason the National Socialist Workers Party of Germany in the 1930-40's was anti Communist was simply competition. The "conservative" term only applies in the sense that once in power, they wanted to keep it. In the process, the Socialists ( Nazi's ) gleefully killed the Socialists ( Communists ) in mass quantity, along with Jews, Gypsys, Homosexuals, Slavs, and those who disagreed with them.

Liberal does not Equal Socialist.

No matter what Rush Limbaugh says. After all, according to the illegally elected Senator from Minnesota, Rush is a big fat idiot.

Liberal does not equal Democrat, either.

Conservative does not equal Republican.

So since you don't understand that Nazi's are leftists, Communists are leftists, Greenies are Leftist, and that the leftist movement has slaughtered more people than Cancer in the last 150 years......

What do YOU think of the speculation that Obama promised the Russians to abandon the missile defense systems we are now re deploying to cover Korea? ( "more flexibility after the election " )

How do you think we should handle the threats of nuclear death?

How about Iran & it's threats of Nuclear death, and Obama's abandonment of Poland
when he pulled the employment of anti missile defenses in Poland AFTER the brave Poles defied Russia to have us do so to protect Europe from Iranian missiles.

And did so to curry favor with Putin in a "deal" for the Russians to put pressure on Iran. ( which they don't seem to have delivered on. Russia after the Czars/under the Communists has Never kept it's word )

This isn't Dick "shoot a lawyer" Cheney 8 years ago, this is the current admin. Today, with missiles and nuclear war...... Opinion? Suggestion?

They are playing it just like they did last century.
look for a high profile international 'hit' to, embroil us into some new international farcus of stupidity - lasting about 3-4 years
look for the O and his ministers to meet the fate of the Czar and his in the winter of 16,
and badda bing badda boom,
they will celebrate the 100th to the Communist Revolution with a new Soviet in the White House in 17.
wee fricken ha...

and a new currency is on the usher to be in because of the excuses:
Counterfeiting
Wear and Replacement of Paper
The removal of God from the Bill
The placement of O on the bill
and of course the merging of the 'dollar' into a trade union agreement between Canada and Mexico.
All distractions-
the real reason - the dollar ain't worth the paper it is printed on, and the need to reissue a new fiat currency - make the old one illegal, and out with the new presses at the Fed.
Same old f'n song (this will be our fifth fiat issue in a century; and will play out just as the others did)

I wouldn't like being called a liar either. Of course I didn't do that. I merely pointed out your poor relationship with honesty. On one had you claim that party affiliation is meaningless because both are the same. On the other hand you defend a single party because you disagree with the stance of the other party. Both can not be honest statements.

So, If I read that correctly, Hillary & Bill Clinton, The current Sec State, ( and traitor ) Kerry, and most of their advisers were wrong about the number of WMD's ready to use in Iraq?

That makes sense. The number of poison gas shells found is far less than WAS COUNTED BY THE UN INSPECTORS before they were ejected during the Clinton admin. Clinton cut back drastically on both the Human Intelligence ( Humint ) side of the CIA and the Military. ( the army DEPLOYED in Desert Storm was larger than the ENTIRE army post Clinton )

So it's not a huge surprise that America had to depend on sat cameras and guesses to figure out the state of Saddam's WMD program.

Iraq, it turns out, was ready to crank back into production on poison gas, and had large stockpiles of Yellowcake Uranium from Nigeria ( Blame Plame Wilson ) and internationally banned diseases kept in small quantities in storage.

To this day, other than the mass shipments to Syria, there is STILL MISSING thousands of tons of poison gas that the UN INSPECTORS has verified as being in Saddam's arsenal.

The shells found by the Poles ( mostly Mustard gas ) and used as IED's ( mostly binary nerve agents ) don't come close to the total poison gas known to exist after Desert Storm, but now still missing.

Saddam was assigned an FBI agent as a handler, and according to him, Saddam claimed he'd ordered the bulk of his poison gas supplies destroyed during the Clinton Admin, AFTER the inspectors were ejected, but did not document the destruction for fear that IRAN would invade if he didn't have a deterrent.

Unfortunately there is no proof of that, and the remaining WMD's are being destroyed in a joint UK/Iraq program that gets no press..... because it doesn't match the myth.

Thanks again, to our UK allies, for doing a great job, even though our leaders are fools.
