BTW, True story from Friday afternoon. Two 6th graders kids were getting on the bus and one was showing the other the picture he had drawn. It showed a tank shooting at a tall building. Somehow I managed to not feel so threatened as to call for a SWAT team. I actually felt kind of bad realizing that I probably could have gotten both of them into a lot of trouble. Both were in a laughing/joking Friday afternoon mood though, so I really couldn't see any threat of any kind.

As for TSA screeners, read it from an insider...

Former Newark Airport TSA screener says the job does little to keep fliers safe

Actually that headline does little to summarize the article. It's worth a quick read.

Yesterday, I went to walmart for various crap. I went to the ammo section to see if they had any bricks of .22

They didn't.
also, they had NOTHING ELSE. not 410 shotshells, not 9mm, not any damn thing at all!

What the hell is this crap? Aren't any factories making ammo anymore?

Perhaps Walmart is going to stop selling ammo?

I'm not out BTW. I stocked up in a big way when Clinton was on the iron throne.
I just don't want to run out.

Perhaps Walmart is going to stop selling ammo?

I had heard that they were letting current stock sell out with no plans of getting more. I'm not sure if it's only certain states or the entire chain though.

Ammo....plain and simple..it's being SCALPED. There is a huge break in the supply train from manufactures to the end user.
Whoever has an "IN" at the dealer level or can be at Wal*Nards or any other retailer when the shipments come in are scarfing up what they can get and turning it over for a quick buck on Gunbrokers. Who's minding the store when the boss is out? Simply set aside what you want(under the counter),pay cash and zoom.....there it is on Gunbrokers."Yah boss,we had another run on ammo.....don't know how word got out so quickly"
The cure is to not buy any ammo till it becomes a glut on the market....but sheeple ain't going to let that happen for a very long time.Cheaper than Dirt has ammo in stock, but they will rape you on it..

...does anyone here, who lives in New York and it's fresh new SAFE Act plan to actually obey it?

I'm hoping that it gets repealed before it totally takes effect.

Currently, I'm "selectively" obeying...

I'm only carrying 7 +1 in my .45. And only five in the J-frame!

...They do call it a NY reload for a reason, right?!

Seriously though, I haven't really decided what to do. Complying certainly feels surrender, and I could almost feel the ground trembling while my grandfather spins in his grave.

Following my god given right as an American, gets you branded as a Felon! Which keeps you from owning a firearm! ARRRGH!!!!

Maybe they're trying to make ammo hard to get.

It's a shame the government isn't backing off on ammo purchases as part of the sequester. I guess they see having enough ammo for a couple of wars in the hands of the DHS as mandatory. I wonder what they have in mind?

The SAFE act is clearly unconstitutional by current rulings.

The law has been broken, but not by NY's citizens.

They are NOT going to rescind the intent to purchase the massive amounts of ammo, regardless of budgetary concerns because it fits the agenda..........drying up the availability of ammunition to the citizens at large.

I think part of it is "normal" preparations to secure what they believe is necessary for training and arming their work force. The amount of Federal agents with police powers has been on the increase for decades. Virtually every regulatory agency has an armed force, including the Department of Education!! There may as well be a deniable administrative goal to corner the market, who outside of the inner circle can know for sure.......but with the never let a crisis go to waste crowd.....all bets are off.

Whether they are seriously anticipating wide spread civil unrest, I'll leave that to another venue, or someone with a better grade of tinfoil.....

Full on propaganda effort that demonizes gun owners and guns begins with punishing our children for behavior that is common and has been acceptable for 14,000 years.

( what? you don't think the children of Rome didn't pretend to throw piliums at one another? The Children of Ur played at Gilgamesh & Enkidu. The children of America played at Cowboys and Indians. ( now forbidden under threat of excess compassion ) )

I shudder to think what current neo-fascist School boards are doing to the children who might, in a moment of forgetfulness, pretend to swing an invisible sword at one another. If a gun, that blows a nasty bleeding hole in a human gets this much loathing in imaginary form, what does a meat cleaver that rips limbs and disembowels in an imaginary way get....

Lucky for those kids, the lack of imagination on the authoritarian sphincters part, coupled with their ignorance of all that is not indoctrination probably protects them, a little from the wrath of the Dickheads.

Why not get your kids some NRA apparel or something similar. What about Star wars franchise? Shouldn't they be out of business by now? The kid next store to me (7 yrs old) loves star wars and has quite a few weapons from the franchise. Not to mention bead spreads and pillows and posters.

Maybe they should start making semi-auto guns that are cool looking with bright colors and smooth surfaces so they don't look so menacing. Why they allways black or dark? Who you hiding it from? OH I get it... it's not unlike the biker wanna be harley dude?
Or maybe that is just the cheapest way?? Seems to me... there could be a whole lot of really cool powdercoatng going on that could be done. If I have a home defense weapon,.. I could care less what it looks lke but I would want to easily find it in the dark... or low light... Also... your enemy will see it in your hands quicker and stop to look even for a millisec. Possibly cooling down the situation. (I hear pink/peach is most soothing color) Same reason I think remotes and phones and wallets should never be black or dark... too easy to misplace haha I have lost my remote on my black table many times.

Thats it!! Mandate ALL civilian weapons be made with joyful colors and pleasing designs. Only military and law enforcement get to use angry black, dark aggressive looking weapons.

The Homerable Nanny of New York City has already expressed his aristocratic hatred for colorful arms in the hands of the peasants. ( hence the collection in his name taken profanely )

I, myself, like the "Goddess Purple" and if I still owned a gun, would surely do that color on, say an SKS or a AK.

Back from the weekly trip to the range again. It's getting kind of slow at the range now, and this week it can't be blamed on weather. I think people are just unwilling to shoot any ammo they have, or they have none. As we were leaving they opened up a new ammo shipment. They had a single carton of 5.56 ammo. I'm not sure how many boxes are in that carton, I'm guessing 25. They are rationing 1 box per customer. My wife and I both bought a box, as did most of the folks in the shop at that time, six or seven people.

I talked to one of the owners for a few minutes. He's claiming that the government is buying all kinds of ammo including .22LR to eliminate supply to the public. I'm having a hard time believing that at this point. I certainly haven't read about them buying any .22LR and they have no use for it. I'm curious what others may think, or better KNOW about the .22 shortage. They are unable to get any supply of .38 too. Suddenly the shops and ranges are beginning to hurt.

This weekend I did see some nice looking tactical guns in pink camo. I don't care much for the pink gun thing, but as a three color camo pattern with pink, black and gray, it looked pretty good.

I've talked to a couple of people that are in the know and would not be likely to lie about it, and they indicated that the problem is demand, not supply. They said they are getting ammo in like they used to, but it sells out almost immediately.

Which I believe. Back when I could get a brick of .22 ammo off the shelf at any time, I walked by it because it was up from $10 per brick to $25 per brick. Now that I can't get it, even though I still don't really need it, if I saw some I would buy as much as they would sell me and walk out with it, even at $30 or something.

I've been following that GunBot site and the prices are rediculous. PMC 55GR FMJ for more than a $1 round. That stuff was like $.35 per round before this shit.

Thankfully I don't need anything but I am keeping an eye just to see when price and supply will start to go back to normal.

I can see the run on the AR's and things like that but the run on ammo has been strange. Do people really think that ammo will no longer be produced no matter what legislation the Gov tries to ram down our throats? There is still going to be demand for all calibers so the manufactures will keep making them.

exactly. people are either in full panic mode or trying to make a buck. i can't believe people are buying up 22 like it's gonna be gone forever. stupid.

Looking at the GunBot site .22LR are going for the $.35 to $.40 a piece range. That's just insane. Until you REALLY need them I guess.

We've tapered off on how many rounds we are shooting. I'll pretty much stop if/when my stock gets low. I'll build it back up when things normalize again.

I do keep wondering when the flood gates of foreign ammo will open up. It seems that they are missing out on opportunity if they don't ship in any excess supply. I wonder if they are limited in what they can ship in.

http://politicker.com/2013/03/after-aurora-how-may or-bloomberg-planned-to-make-the-next-massacre-cou nt/

In an unrelated note, the assault on Sniper Rifles is now beginning. I guess the anti-Constitution folk figure they've won the "assault weapon" fight, and it's time to move on.

Full court press.

After "Sniper Rifle", expect "Concealable", "sawed off shotgun" and "assassination weapon".

Sniper Rifle = anything with a scope. Or sights.

Concealable = anything that Andre The Giant could hide in a floor length leather jacket.

Sawed Off Shotgun = shotgun. Already in deep doo-doo in Colorado. Ironic that I can get a joint, but not a pump shotgun. ( direct lift from Nazi Law, pump shotguns were sold as evil in Germany based on their performance in US troops hands in WW1. )

assassination weapon. = .22lr. Will be, and is touted as assassins choice.

Assault weapon = anything you want it to be. Generally anything black, or military LOOKING based on arbitrary COSMETIC ( yes, "cosmetic" is in the law ) standards. No relation to "assault rifle" which has an actual meaning.

"no one needs an assault weapon to hunt deer". ( yeah, and no one needs to hunt. No one needs to eat meat, either. In fact, it's best if you just die and leave room for the Rich and Vegan, and Deer, you piece o crap caveman primitive woman hating Eurocentric male scum. ....... gotta read the context on these folk )

Knives are already being talked about.

Clubs are regulated in New York already. Yes, you can own a little league baseball bat, but not a baton.
