Color me jealous- I've been thinking for years that I need to get a DS, do some offroading- got two buddies who rum a DS outfitter biz locally, so I'm really an idiot not to, especially given what I have access to! What are those, 350's, 400's? |

Yeah, I caught that as soon as I posted. Whoops- but what year are those? I had a 1990 DR650, those somehow look like the smaller motors. Lemme know if youn's need to farkle out, I know some folks. When the day comes, I'm gonna shoot for a nicely outfitted 400 with some proper motor mods. |

So.....you're saying Doug could be tipped over and it might take him some time to get back up? Where are you going to be riding with him.....or me? |

They are left over 2012's Suzuki had them priced at $5999.00 State 8 up by Akron, OH has them for 4599.00 It was 5477.66 out the door. You would be hard pressed to find a used 2010 or 11 or 09 for that matter for that price. The farkle has begun. I ordered a luggage rack and skid plate today... Where am I gonna ride... I'm gonna ride the WORLD!! WOOT!! |

If you ride in the dirt or mud and gravel you will want knobbier tires. The Dunlop D606 is a great tire. I wanted a little less noise on the pavment and tire life so I'm trying the Continental TKC80 this time. |

If you haul them much I would suggest a fork saver for the front. Keeps from compressing the springs so much and makes them rock SOLID while hauling. |

If you want DOT knobbies, I think I ended up running Kenda Trackmasters on the KLR-250. Consider getting an extra set of wheels... you will ruin a good set of knobbies in short order (a few hundred miles) on the street... there will still be knobs but you will loose the edges. Not a big deal for dry terrain, but all the difference in the world if things are wet and muddy. For that matter, the real dual sport tires grip just fine offroad so long as it's dry. Probably as well as worn knobbies, even though they don't look like they would. |

I had 606's on my KLR 650 they were so noisy after 3k I coundn't stand it,tons of traction though. Just spooned on a set of good old Kenda K270's,waiting for the ice to melt. |

They are great for moto-x bikes. We used to haul a couple thousand miles a year and NEVER had one come loose or move after we all started using them. And yes, I made most of ours. It is a long story but I made a batch of titanium ones up for the whole group we rode with years ago. |

I just picked up a 1998 DR 650 this winter. Really looking forward to getting it all decked out for summer touring in the UP of Michigan! Should be much easier than trying to get the Uly down the deep sand logging roads found here in Michigan! Wolfy, what rack are you going with? |

northrider, make sure it has the updated multi-layered steel base gasket. or you will blow it on trips. it's a problem with the older ones... changed one for a friend last fall |
