Rather than route and hook up a 12 volt outlet / connection for charging a cellphone on my bike(s), can I just use the pigtail that I've got on my battery for my tender? |

I've done it. Not for a cell phone, but for other 12 volt devices. It's no problem. |

Did that on my (now departed) X1. It worked well & is an easy solution. YMMV. Chris C |

Yes you can. I bought a usb charger at wally world and cracked it open and used an old vcr power cord and soldered it into place and snapped it back together. I left enough line on it to either put it in a jacket pocket or a saddle bag. Works so far. |

Auto parts stores often have that connector as well. Only two possible downsides: 1) It's not switched, so if you leave something on there overnight it could kill the battery. This can be either a feature or a bug, depending on the problem at hand. 2) If it is not fused (some are, some aren't) and you have a short, it is an arc-welder until something melts to nothing. This could be expensive or uncomfortable. Other than that, no problem. |

It's a common connector (unless you have one of the newer smart chargers) that can be found easily at many electronic stores, auto parts stores, motorcycle shops, and online. If you have one of the smart chargers with an unusual connector, it's easy enough to simply add a second that will suit your needs. |

others have stated this stuff already but also - if you have an 1125 there is a port in the nose where you can hook up a cig lighter from a lighter, that way it turns off with the turning of the key and wont risk your battery dying |

> It's not switched, so if you leave something on there overnight it could kill the battery Not a problem. I wouldn't walk away from my bike with anything unsecured anyway. I was thinking in terms of maybe a wrist strap iphone holder and keeping it juiced while I run a nav app... |
