Due to "Supply chain issues" the job I was supposed to start next Monday (Feb 11) has been pushed back to a start date of March 25. So I'm thinking about riding down to Daytona for Bike Week. I'm going to be traveling on a shoestring budget, so I'm going to be tent camping while I'm there. I have a couple of questions for you folks that have camped at the Speedway in the past: Were you able to get any sleep, or was the partying loud throughout the night? And are the bathrooms/showers reasonably close? As far as price, is it worth it, or should I look for a campground somewhere else? |

Crusty, It can get pretty loud at times but it quites down. You should be able to get some sleep. There are a few other camp sites around. There is one by destination Daytona that's not that bad price wise. give me a PM when your in town. Or if you want me to check something out for you let me know. I live in Flagler beach and work in Ormond (10 miles north of the speedway if you don't know you way around) My office is like 2 miles from Destination Daytona |

Plenty of room at the Speedway to camp away from others. I never had any issues getting sleep there. |

Camping is a good option at the track. No traveling to/from races etc'. I've done it the last two years right where Wolfridgerider indicates. It's not expensive & you get free range of the interior to view the races etc'. If you're coming through Jacksonville, give me a shout. I can provide a hot shower, place to crash etc'. I'll probably be going down on the Friday & returning to Jax on the Sunday. I will be camping. Chris C |

Crusty, If you really want someone that is in the know..... give Mike Kirkpatrick aka (Coolice) a shout. Hes been doing Daytona for 25 plus years...every year. He knows where everything is. |

I'll be tent camping in the infield again. No real problems with noise. Actually the banking of the track blocks a lot of noise from the streets around the track. I remember one year staying in a hotel on the beach and all you heard were loud pipes accelerating up and down the street all night long. Don't remember hearing that when camping in the infield. |

Crusty, hit me up for a layover on your way to and from Daytona if you would like. Shoot me a PM. Heck, if I can make it happen I may even go with you! I have made the trip twice, camping in the infield both times for one night. It can be cold and windy, that is for sure! Quiet is not a problem. When the lights go down it gets pretty quiet. No problem getting space within a hundred feet of the restroom building. Campfires are usually open and friendly, I paid a two beer admission to a campfire last time. The pits were open to where you could walk in and talk with anyone there. Even that Buell guy, what's his name or other! The Gieco girls.....well..... bring a camera! |
