I am in the market for new work boots and of course the ever increasingly difficult search for a US made product has led me to Thorogood boots. Anyone have em?

I guess like you I dont know any thing about this boot I read what I could find I could find nothing about the lining. I dont like a boot that is not leather lined. be sure yo check for that.

Yep, sure do. I have a pair of wildland firefighting boots, and a pair of 6 inch, side-zip duty boots. The fire boots are definitely Made in the USA, and are superb. The duty boots I'm not sure about their country of origin, but they are still a well constructed and comfortable boot.

Now mind you, the fire boot is a type of logger boot and you may not find any of those types "comfortable" outside of the intended use. They aren't cheap, either, but they are rugged and reliable.

The duty boots are waterproof and very inexpensive, I found them online for $80.00, which is why I wonder if they are made here. Like a lot of the newer style combat and duty boots they mix materials a lot. The fire boots don't, except for using kevlar thread as required to meet regulations as an approved fire boot. Well, the sole on the fire boot is unique; a joint venture with Vibram soles. Like I said, I like mine.

I have never owned a pair of the Thorogood boots but I do own a couple of pair of Red Wings. According to their website 60% of their boots are made in the US. I have the 2414 model and they are made in the US. They are the most comfortable boots I have ever worn and the service at the Red Wing store is great. They are pricey but worth every penny.

+1 on the Red Wings. I was skeptical when I bought my first pair. I was so happy with them that I bought a second pair that are insulated for winter. Most comfortable thing I've ever worn on my feet! Pricey, but worth it.

I too have Red Wings and love them. I needed thicker socks due to blistering, but once that was handled I haven't thought twice about the purchase. They are fantastic.

I've been wearing Thorogood Deuce Side Zip boots for years. They have a non-metallic safety toe, are waterproof, lightweight and very comfortable. I have a bad ankle, and it took a while for me to find a boot that didn't cause me a lot of pain, but these boots are everything I need in a boot. They're fairly inexpensive, as well. My most recent pair cost under $100.00.
They are made overseas; China, to be specific. While I try to avoid buying anything from China, I haven't found a more comfortable boot made elsewhere.

Another thing about the Red Wings - the type I have are good for a free re-sole so long as the uppers are in decent enough shape.

When I worked in the steel industry 30 years ago, I got the metatarsal boots for free. $345 is a bunch to pay. Some others listed here http://www.americanmadeworkboots.com/metcarolina07 .html

Corcoran and Matterhorn boots.
I've been wearing Corcoran boots since highschool and love 'em. I've worn Corcoran steel toe boots for work; oil field, farming, ship building, and chemical plant. They're comfortable, good looking, well-made, and last a looooong time. I like that you can also replace soles (I've done this a few times) so with care they can last forever.
I have nylon/leather and full leather jumps that I wear away from work.

They also have metgaurd boots.

+1 on the Corcoran boots.

I wear a pair of 10" side zip jump boots every day - 12 to 16 hours. Most comfortable pair of walking boots I've ever worn.

The boot comes w/ a choice of two different soles - dress sole, or a combat (field) sold. The field sole version is constructed with a steel shank in the arch of the sole, so there's on flex in the shoe. The dress sole is more flexible.

Carolina boots are the best boots by far. I wore them while working at the rail road. I only went through 2 pair in 6 years. I walked a lot at work and all walking was a ballast. Great feel and support. Also made in the USA

Thanks for the comments. I went with the Thorogood Boots, American/union made and really they are quite nice. As an added bonus I found a really nice local small boot store that only deals in Thorogood and Redwing(American made only) boots, with a level of customer service I haven't seen in a long time. For any of you who looking for a nice pair of boots I highly recommend them so far, and for what I got I think the prices are better then fair.

J2 I looked at those fire boots at the store, they looked awesome! Also checked out a pair of the Thorogood "Hellfires" also awesome. I'm a huge fan of boots in general as I spend most of my life in them, and its nice to known there are still a couple of US companies out there that can hold their own.

Well after a few good days of normal work i can without a doubt say that this is possibly the most comfortable pair of work boots i have ever owned. Being able to buy an american product is nice, finding out that is is a superior product makes it even better. This is a 100% american made boot comprised of all american made materials all for the cost of $160.00, a bargain in my mind.
