I would park my Formula outside before my Buell, and it's my dearly departed mother's car which I grew up in. Now bike are meant to stand up to some precipitation but somehow I feel cars are a little better at it.

Cheeze;
Go to rental store & rent a picnic tent & pin some cheap tarps on the open parts - or -
Try to borrow one from local Legion or Fire Department - or -
Go to hardware store & get some PVC conduit & tees and make a dome frame and then cover with a big tarp from Wally-World

Get an electric heater from almost anyplace, use a long extension chord to plug in nearest outlet.

Must have been cramped.

I'd be willing to bet if it were something less mechanical and more technical this thread wouldn't exist, I could easily have done a similar thread about me when I was having ECM issues....

Life as a Frog certainly does not seem to garner much respect lately.

Damn.....Doesn't this thing look like a bouncing frog?

How would Froggy put together a new shed for his bike?

This has kind of turned into a thrashing the from thread, but Froggy could simply man up and get the damn wheel back on and shut everyone up. Can a frog man up? Perhaps with the help of rainbows and unicorns.

Kids !

Actually, being that this is the 21st century, I am able to read/post on Badweb from nearly anywhere, while doing nearly anything, including sitting on a train, at a family function, work, commuting to work, or other similar times where I have a minute or two to burn and am not home.

Old people!

quote:

Go do it naked. You'll get it done quick!

Yea I'll be done for sure quick, it is -13°C out right now, I'd get hypothermia fast!

quote:

Okay Froggster, we get it. You're a wimp and can't spend ten minutes in the semi-cold weather to put in an axle and can't seem to find room in the garage. But didja ever hear of motorcycle covers?
While the idiot NY gov is whipping up silly gun laws he ought to make one against Buell abuse.
Sheesh! Like the guy said, "Git 'er done!"

Motorcycle covers? You mean that garbage that scratches the plastics, traps moisture in, and turns it into a sail? We had a nasty wind storm a few days ago, the pattio furniture and the garbage shed blew away, but the bike didn't move off the stands. I've seen pictures of bikes that have been blown over in light gusts due to covers.

quote:

I know right! Sounds like one of my kids explaining why there are still dishes in the sink!

Do they not have automated machines that do that in Georgia?

quote:

Now bike are meant to stand up to some precipitation but somehow I feel cars are a little better at it.

A little bit of snow is the least of the bikes worries. I've ridden that 1125R in blizzards, hurricanes, near tornadoes, off road, stream crossings, and so on.

Yea that might be a long term solution, I might set something else up like that in the next place I live.

Nah I haven't been dumped. In fact, my biggest time sink is my girlfriend, which sucks up the majority of my potential wheel installation time.

Well the good news is, I did get the axle threaded a little this morning before the frostbite started setting in, I'll wrap it up tomorrow!

It would be easier if you just stored your bike at the bottom of the deep end of a pool.

No.....if she was any kind of a truly loving girl friend, she would go out and put the wheel on for you while you stand in the kitchen making hot chocolate and holding a warm blanket for when she comes back in.

Let me know when you are ready to pick a wife.....I have a lot of good ideas for you.

Jesus H. Chhhreist, Ken, put on your grok filter or something!

What Vern said. The man has built the true, blue, manifestly superb and rideable pony for Sandy, the Blastuly. She'd have done the same.
Mebbe it's all her gig, but she aint fast like Vern. That's how I differentiate.

I'm sure it was built about now. A few years back that is. I'd recommend any one class or several of his wrenchin' teachin' to hep ya there Frogs.

I am plumb full and ready to expound on why my life is a little short, not having a rideable Buell around.

Dammmmmit!!!

It amazes me how someone can blog about an issue that takes about the same time as it would to actually knock the issue out.

You can do it! It's a 6 minute job.

I know you aren't afraid to ride in snow so that's not the problem.

Fur crying out loud, I changed a water pump in a Keweenaw snow storm.
- Rig up shelter as best you can.

- Get an electric space heater. They are everyplace. Look under the women's desks at work & be prepared to explain yourself. - They are all over the place. - If you can't borrow one get one from a discount store, they are cheap.

- Borrow a bunch of extension chords. Drag them to the job site. Plug in your heater. - Keep your tools and parts warm to the touch.

- Liberate GFs hair dryer and use to warm up hub (Be prepared to replace if caught at this.)

Yep, took the Subway in. That was my plan regardless of what my wheels were doing. Living in Brooklyn 4 days a week has its perks occasionally.

quote:

If she was a real G/F she would help you put the wheel back on!

I've had her help with little things in the past, but I won't subject her to this cold.

quote:

You can do it! It's a 6 minute job

You must be superhuman or something, as it is nowhere near a 6 minute job, even for a dealer that has tools and experience. It is not hard, it doesn't take long, but it doesn't change the fact that uncooperative weather exponentially complicates things. Little things like trying to thread screws becomes difficult while wearing gloves, and then picking up a cold socket can stick it to your hand like kid who licked the pole in that xmas movie.

I've done it a hundred times before, just never in sub zero temperatures, honestly I'm in no rush to finish it either, it is not going anywhere.
