Hopefully those guys buying high now will be up a creek when the proposed bans fail...or they will profit greatly.

I think it's wrong to hoard just to sell. I'm not playing that game.

The money spent is a tax deduction. The bid winner has an A+ rating as well as all but a couple of the other bidders. Only two retractions..This is NOT an eBay flunky kids game auction.

They aren't paying $136K for an AR-15, they are paying that for a one of a kind piece of gun art that will probably never even get fired. Like I said in my first post on this, not really my thing, but I've known a couple of people who don't actually shoot, collect shiny blinged out guns, like you see in the NRA mags. Of course, you could probably pay to have this done to your own AR for far less money. You won't get the serial number TAR000001 however.

Dewalt's answer to home protection that
doesn't require a registration or license.

This nail gun can shoot a 16-D nail through
a 2x4 at 200 yards and incase of a home
invasion, well, you can NAIL THEIR ASS to
the wall.

Thought I'd share..

Dewalt

remove the buttstock, shorten the barrel, remove the flash guard, and the carry handle, you just might be able to convince these idiots that is is a 'nail' gun.

yep - they appear to be that stupid.

Got word from my gun dealer that there have been approximately 1,000,000 AR platform rifles sold in the last 60 days.

This number has completely tapped out the manufacturer's supply. They have nothing on the docks. What is out in the stores is what is available.

Worse yet, the manufacturers are not gearing up to replace inventory. Until the manufacturers are more confident in the future of AR platform legality, they are not going to put much if any capital into new production.

It's gonna get interesting folks.

That's pretty astounding. That's roughly one rifle for every 300 people in the US. That's men, women, and children. Keep in mind, this is just one gun platform in the last 60 days!

Also, because ammo is flying off the shelves (See Walmart), the ammo manufacturers have gotten wise.

They are ONLY shipping premium ammo. So you can get 20 rounds of Federal for $40-45.

The ammo will come back eventually, but it's just crazy now.

There were 50+ people at my local little store from the time they opened at 9:00 until they closed at 6:00.

So what do you think they're doing with their supplies of "standard or sub standard" ammo?

Ain't no such thing.

Premium vs. Lower end rounds.

How much of this have you seen:

at $19.00/box

vs. this:

at $40-45/box

The whole AR / tactical firearms, components and ammo has basically dried up to nothing or is extremely overpriced.

My 3 panic buy stripped lowers....
I got one done.
and the two others I have given up for the time being with only:
one rifle stock kit,
a BCM charge handle
one complete LPK and one w/o the FCG.

I will watch for components but,
I switched gears to fill another hole in my array of weapons, a "budget" tactical bolt action in .308

After much searching, the one that fits my needs is the Savage "Hog Hunter" in 308.
Feels good, points well, only minor drawback for me, top load only.
Total price locally $490, I had to put it on lay-a-way.
Now to try to collect all the goodies to reload for it (got brass and a few bullets) should be fun ; )

Nine,

It's a little spendy but if you want a detachable magazine in a bolt action .308 check out the Ruger Gunsite Scout Rifle.

It was an order for a guy at work that couldn't find any local stock. He isn't computer savvy. He just wanted some cheaper 22's and I took a quick look "for cheap" and he said go ahead. Wasn't urgent, just stocking up a bit....and he was OK with the first delay.I can cancel, but am going to let it stand.....just to see if the price holds till JUNE delivery.I have been a local "go to guy" for online ammo a few times a year.Usually a couple boxes of this and a box of that. The last month I have procured thousands of rounds for friends/ group buys. Hmmmmm.

Unlike most plinkers I can tell the difference in ammo. Can You!

For what 3 or 4 boxes of ammo cost today a person can buy a basic reloading outfit.

Gregtonn:
You are absolutely right on about the Ruger Scout!

That would have been my choice if I wanted to drop the extra dollars!
I shoot more pistol and 223 than anything else, so other long guns are more of an "extension" of my hobby than the focus.

I really wanted a FNAR 16" in 308 but at over $1,400 it just did not make sense for me.

Oh, I agree Jramsey.

That's why I am buying the reloading components to load my own.

My point was that production has shifted to ONLY the highest end rounds because people will buy them at any price and the profit margins are higher.

Don't fault them. Just pointing out how the market is running.

Won't be until someone starts producing lower price point ammo (not match grade premium ammo) and pulling market share that the manufacturers will shift back down market.

When I posted yesterday about Bass Pro, they had CCI MiniMag 22LR 375 bulk count in stock. This morning, they are out.

The only 22Lr I can find on the web that is in stock is cheap junk, or ultra expensive "match" ammo.

NO local vendor has any in stock, including any of the gun shops, or Walmart, Or Dick's, or any one else.

I read your post and asked my boss for a tally for the last 60..

1056 AR/5.56,.308 platforms

172 AK/7.62x39 platforms

623 AR/22 platforms

578 Tac Shotguns

Let's not even get into ammo.

If I couldn't find an AR right now and I really wanted a Rifle and not a shotgun, I'd look long and hard at the Mossberg MVP. I have not shot one but I have heard good things and I love the fact that it shoots .223/5.56 and can take AR Mags.
