of the ones that have had - they were once already; if they cannot manage to find such- then I cannot rightfully remember where they might have gotten too.

or I could learn some Spanish and claim to be a cartel unto myself- maybe the Obama and Holder will GIVE me guns in their next round of gun walking

I was in the shop today where I picked up my gun about a week ago. They had one on the wall with a price tag of $1,750. That's a full $500 more than I paid and $650 more than I was told mid December. My local range has some on the wall on consignment. One is a pretty plain military looking carbine with military iron sights that had a price tag of $2,900 on it. I guess they can ask what they want, but I would think the shop would be giving some guidance and not provide valuable wall space to something that is completely off the mark.

Saw some Wolf steel case ammo priced at $22.00 for a box of 20! There's some serious price gouging going on right now. Shop around!

just .22 , 30-30, and 30-06 left

Really had my heart set on the little s2k. Cant justify double MSRP.

Chances are, all this will blow over by spring and the folks who ended up paying double and more for arms/ammo will feel rather duped.....

.....right.....?

My LGS just called and said they have a Bushmaster flattop for sale for $1450. I think the same gun was $800 two weeks ago at Cabela's, and I didn't like the way it felt anyway.

No 22 LR at Wal*Nards today. Several boxes of cheapie brand in .380 auto. Dude said folks came in a bought every box of the caliber they wanted....that is,if they had a 44 mag, they cleared the shelf of 44 mag ammo.

I said screw it and just traded all my guns for throwing rocks. Guy said they are all the rage in the Oriental countries, I didn't get his name and he must have grabbed my copy of the bill of sale.. Dang it, just realized that.

I did pick up a couple boxes of 223 today, they got 10 boxes in while I was there! Had to grab a couple.
Just in case I buy another gun down the road, which I certainly won't so maybe ill just trade them off for pepper dust refills for the tactical throwing rocks...

late to this thread ( at least I dont think i've posted here yet )

Im in the club now
after years of owning guns (current crop pre 12/25) was a beretta 92 9mm, lcp, benelli 12ga, and a S&W MP15-22 (i have my ccp too), I got a huge surpise the other week
Troy Defense AR

Long before the school shooting, my father purchased this for me for Christmas, lucking up as they were in stock and not outrageously priced as we've seen in the past few weeks.

guns are awesome

It's all about style.
Fine walnut and Color Case Hardening are the 19th, early 20th century sign of class and quality.

I personally think the Turnbull TAR-10 is a joke that mostly rich guys buy into, when they want something to freak out their shooting buddy that always brags on his vintage Parker... But it's a very well made joke.

Turnbull rules the color case hardening roost, with the capacity to do authentic CCH in pretty much any of the distinctive classic gun colors. Fox, Parker Winchester, etc. All had very different proprietary Case Hardening techniques, and Doug Turnbull spent years of research and hard work to get them right.

You can even have your old Sears shotgun redone in Fox blues, and made more perfect than the showroom ever saw.

It'd be a little crazy to spend way over a grand on a $30 shotgun, but they'll do it for you if you want. They WILL make a good faith effort to talk you out of foolish, which is rare and scary honest today. ( they talked me out of spending too much on an old Stevens Pump .22 )

It once was a truism that an unrestored classic was much more valuable than a restored one, based on the fact that it was impossible to do it completely right. Now, if it's a Turnbull Restoration, It's Right.

Cheap is NOT on the list there.

Full disclosure, they don't pay me or know me from Adam. ( other than the guy with the yellow Cyclone that drops by to drool a few times a year ) Just a local case of the best there is.

These prices are surely not going to stabilize anytime soon and with the Massive orders for bulk ammo put in by our broke Uncle Sam, availability in bulk not likely soon either.

Time to roll your boys....

The AR platform is considered the "modern sporting rifle". Lots of people use one as a hunting rifle. Just like the millions of 1898 Mausers used in the last Century plus.

Black is "tactical".
Camo is "hunting".
Green is "zombie".
Lies are "leftist".

but wait.... now they are saying the 'long gun' 'used' in the Sandy Hook was a 'shot gun'

so much for they will not come after your shot gun....
and how this little twerp gotta hold of a new AR Shotty derivative is beyond me.

More likely - the 'expert' they consulted has his head firmly up his @55 and is deep in the pockets of their agenda.

your shot guns are 'next'

It is a great shame that the so called news companies are now just Pravda & Izvestia. ( Truth & News ) "In Truth there is no News, and in News there is No Truth" Goes the old saying.

I have heard nothing but conflicting stories, 24/7 about The Sandy Hook Massacre. It may take over a year for the police report to be leaked. Meanwhile.... leftists lie. It's what they do. It's how they can live with themselves. "By any means necessary" is not just a saying, it's a lifestyle.

Remember, from the old version of the Brady Center to exploit a crippled guy.
Give an object scary name and ban it. Move to next object.
"Assault Weapon". ( no actual definition, can be ANYTHING you want. )
"Sniper Rifle" ( has a scope )
"Sawed Off Shotgun" ( any shotgun & a saw blade )
"Assassination weapon" ( .22LR anything )

and the current mantra...

"Semiauto" ( it has an actual meaning but they believe, correctly, that most people are too ignorant to know a damn thing about it. They've worked hard to make the People this dumb. Very Hard. )

"High Capacity" ( whatever the f&*&^ we want. Nothing to do with reality... it's just scary. )

In NY they want to make pretty much any thing they can illegal, in direct opposition to the actual law.

"experts" on tv? Did he tell us how bad dancing was? Video Games? Comic Books?

went to the local gun show Saturday.

Interesting thing - they had a gun show (same promoters, same venue) two weeks ago - the wait was about an hour to get in, the fire department was on hand because the building had hit its capacity (this is in Winston Salem, NC, at a larger venue). I heard that almost every gun there was purchased that weekend, and the same for most of the ammo.

So me and my friends were shocked to see another gun show so soon after, guess the promoting company knew it would still draw a big crowd and they could make a boat load of money. They were right.

I went Saturday (its a Sat/Sun event) and walked in within 2 minutes in the short line to the ticket booth.
Inside I saw there were plenty of weapons and ammo, though both were ridiculously expensive.
ARs were 2000+
223/556 were a buck a round. and that was "on sale"
clips were "originally" $60, but "sale priced" at 50 for a PMag.
Ridiculous.
More ridiculous - people were paying it.

Even the 15-22 stuff was higher than usual
I have a S&W MP15-22, and absolutely love it. Was shocked to see that 22LR ammo had almost doubled in price, and the clips for it were twice as much as well.

People are scared.
Its crazy.

I do not think anything will come of this gun ban stuff, I think there will be a flooded market of AR and AR parts in a few months when people are broke and some good deals will be made.

That said, I am still waiting on a day when I have time and its not too cold out to go try my new 556 AR out

I do not think anything will come of this gun ban stuff, I think there will be a flooded market of AR and AR parts in a few months when people are broke and some good deals will be made.
I sold an AR-15 years ago for $600.00,the going rate. Then came the phony ban and the prices shot up to neart $1,500.00 for the same plain jane AR. They dropped a bit in price over the years but not the same rate as other firearms. High demand= high prices.

I think the owners of currently "frenzy bought" AR's/AK's will hang onto them ......no matter what. Older guns may show up because of the new common high price that will take years to come back to normal.....if there even is a "normal". Guys are paying a grand for an 840 round cans of green tip .223's at gunbrokers. Most all .223 ammo buyers are NEW buyers with zero feedback/previous purchases.....Hmmmmm,that's interesting!
Other online .223 ammo is sold out/out of stock, unless it is unpopular .223 loadings like 50 grainers or steel cased stuff.Oh,it's out there, but not like it used to be when it was $5.00/box of 20....not all that long ago. 30.06 has practically dried up. Hundreds of listings a month ago.........yesterday,3(THREE!)offerings when I looked. It changes daily, but I was surprised at the demise of 30.06 offerings. Not a can of anything, just boxes. If the prices keep going up,"the grand a can" guys may sell for profit...but I doubt they bought it for profit purposes.Your supposed to buy low, sell high.
