A local paper filed a FOIL request and published all the names and addresses of all gun permit holders in several lower Hudson Valley counties. My county has announced that they will not comply with the request.

http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2013/01/robert-fa rago/breaking-putnam-county-clerk-refuses-to-relea se-pistol-permit-holders-info-to-journal-news/#com ment-562329

Thanks for taking a stand against irresponsible journalism and taking a stand against the unreasonable attempt to infringe on legal guns owners' rights to their firearms and privacy. This is a small victory for the good guys.

why are they not trying to compile a list of everyone on a psychotropic drug... or that should have been, or that might have been at one time......

The look in the mirror always depends on whose fun house you are standing in.

The real hypocrisy in this, as I posted in another thread with a link to the news story, is that the paper doing this has now hired armed guards to protect the paper. This was after they complained to the police about "threatening emails" they had received and the police disagreed about them being threatening. Guns are the solution for them, but they don't want you to be able to have that same option.

Probably true, but why is the first amendment right sacred, but the second amendment right is to be walked all over?

HIPAA is not part of the Constitution / Bill of Rights; though they certainly did paint it as a 'civil right' with the last round of health care legislation.

The point being that most of these shooters were on, or had been on, or were recommended to be on mental stasis Rx.....

it is interesting that they would go after the shallower pockets - odd, but telling.
Not only do they want you unarmed - they want you drugged and subdued appropriately.

Thanks Johnny
A scathing letter to the paper is in order.

It is a violation of the rights of the permit holders, their right to privacy, unlike say sex offenders, these people pose no threat to the community.
Their (The media's)action potentially exposes the permit holders to hostile acts // vandalism of property.

I also saw this, then heard on radio that many of those gun owners are retired police and corrections employees. Now the typical criminal seeking revenge has access to these people....F'ing brilliant journalism (Assholes).
If this was done in the CT area of Newtown, the map would probably show just as many red dots even though there is less population. I live in the town next door and the local gun permit class is almost always full...every week.
Glad your county denied the request.

Journalists need to be monitored every moment from now on. Watch who the meet where they go. what they publish.
Nothing Illegal do not harass just watch them 24/7 Insure they obey all laws if they publish an inaccurate article Every one has to send them a letter about it Inform their advertisers about improper reporting and how much it concerns you.

Visit your broker and buy stock in the media companies donate the stock to the NRA or Larry Pratts GOA. The media has to answer to stock holders

Their (The media's)action potentially exposes the permit holders to hostile acts // vandalism of property.

Law of unintended consequences.

It also potentially tells criminals which homes are not armed. Oops!

Also just read that the news paper office(s) are being guarded by....armed guards. Wonder if these same guards are on the list.
I'd love to interview these news people and ask them how they "feel"...
