Not going to get me to follow the digression.... except to say that teenagers take nourishment from the labor of the mothers body. They don't think or clean themselves on their own. So, logically, that 15 year old is open season?

To rephrase...

Are you changing the subject to flame people, or are you trying to confuse the issue because you want to destroy that which you swore an oath to protect?

Apparently guns are used all the time to prevent or defend against crime in America...

http://www.pulpless.com/gunclock/noframedex.html

That letter from the Marine is good, except for the part where he says "Nor do I think it prudent to tell you what I own so that it may be taken from me..." but then later states "You will not tell me that I must register my semi-automatic AR-15..."

D'oh!

Two days ago, mrs Feinstein was on a news show, debating a number of issues. One being her new gun law. She made three claims during the interview that shows the amount of background she had on the subject.
1. Any hunter worth a grain of salt would not use an assult rifle to hunt with.
2. They are not accurate
3. They are not even good defense weapons.

Not sure where her info came from, but the US has issued these to the troops for these very reasons for 50 years.

Illinois SUCKS!

CULLERTON TO INTRODUCE NEAR TOTAL GUN BAN ON JANUARY 2ND

quote:

Based on what we know about Cullerton’s bill, firearms that would be banned include all semiautomatic rifles, pistols, and shotguns. Pump action shotguns would be banned as well. This would be a very comprehensive ban that would include not only so-called “assault weapons” but also such classics as M1 Garands and 1911-based pistols. There would be no exemptions and no grandfathering. You would have a very short window to turn in your guns to the State Police to avoid prosecution.

Turn in my guns my ass! Not going to happen.

As passed by the Congress:

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

As ratified by the States and authenticated by Thomas Jefferson, Secretary of State:

A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

I guess these officials can't read.

It has begun. I'll save a long C&P so as to not offend anyone. Clearly I'm not the only one with these fears... What you’ll see in the rebellion

Also this is a very interesting book of "fiction" that cuts way to close to today's reality. They Came for our Guns – They Came for our Freedom

Anyone catch that a General in Syria recently broke rank because of what their government is doing to it's people? It's how it happens folks. Real life. Don't for a minute think we are somehow immune.

I think the "Gun" issue has more to do with a problem that is far too common nowadays. It's Extremism and Complacency.

We have a large percentage of the people that have chosen to bury their heads and let others sort it out. Then, the Kooks step in. (Both Sides)

I am sure that the same arguments were being made in 1934. The difference between now and then; Our leaders negotiated and did not let the Kooks rule the day.

The "National Firearms Act" was passed and history has proven it's success. The law worked. Period.
No credible person or organization is calling for its repeal.

I think that a similar type of compromise is needed today, but it will not be achieved in today’s polarized climate.

If we wait until after the next election this decision could be made by Democrats alone. Even I am a bit concerned about that!

P.S. C&P reduction appreciated!

The "National Firearms Act" was passed and history has proven it's success. The law worked. Period.

Has it really? It was pretty much a Chicago gang problem back then. Chicago rang in the new year with 9 people being shot. They ended 2012 with 532 shot dead. Chicago laws currently go well beyond the National Firearms Act too. Just exactly how is this successful? The gang related drive by shootings are going on just as well as ever before.

I think that a similar type of compromise is needed today

Typical progressive thought. Claim the failures of yesterday are working so good that we need even more of the same. There should be NO compromise in "shall not be infringed".

And more liberal hypocrisy... The paper that published all of the gun owners private information suddenly decides that for them, guns are the solution. "Good for me, but not for thee!" Interesting that the police found nothing threatening in the emails that prompted them to bring in hired guns.

The Journal News is Armed and Dangerous

It ain't the gun. From wikipedia cite
" A subsequent search of their vehicle—after Phillips surrendered with a concealed weapon—found two semi-automatic rifles, two handguns, more than 1,600 rounds of 7.62×39mm rifle ammunition, 1,200 rounds of 9×19mm Parabellum and .45 ACP handgun ammunition, radio scanners, smoke bombs, improvised explosive devices, body armor vests, and three different California license plates.[11] Initially charged with conspiracy to commit robbery,[12] both served 100 days in jail and were placed on three years' probation.[13] After their release, most of their seized property was returned to them.[14]"

So you had the two f'rs from a previous charge years earlier - you RELEASED them, and RETURNED their seized armament ?!?!?

Lady Justice isn't only blind, she is daft.

Illegal Fully automatic weapons are used in crimes.

Yes, they are. And, strange isn't it that criminals commit crimes?

I have a touch of agreement with Union Man on the Kook Issue. The President, who has sealed his records, travel, school, financial, and is an admitted felon, got his start in politics in the home of a mass murdering bomb making anarcho-communist whose one regret is not killing more pigs. ( his own words )

Every big pusher of the new violation of your rights is rich, well guarded by heavily armed private guards and Federal employees. A batch of Elitist snobs with nothing but contempt for folk like Union Man, and me, also a Union member of more than 20 years. Kooks indeed.

Only when these corrupt parasites are fired from our employ will sensible reasoning be allowed to take place.

So, Union Man, What do YOU want to give up so that your Masters can feel better about themselves?

Not ONE thing proposed, the fines, the taxes, the police going to your home to search it for contraband, is going to stop another Columbine ( a crime committed DURING the Clinton Assault Lie Ban ) or Waco, or save one life.

What will you surrender to THEM so they can get re-elected by lying about their awesome accomplishments? Will your family be killed, by accident, of course, when heavily armed troops kick your door down because they heard from a neighbor kid you had a 15 rd .22 magazine? Or will they just kick your cat to death as a mortal threat? ( actual BATF action )

Ready to DIE because that old Airsoft M-16 you forgot about in the basement is visible from a window, and you are slow answering the door?

What I would like is simply a discussion. A real effort to find a solution to the carnage.

Where would I start? A good question.

Answer this first...
Why is the Bushmaster, and other similar guns, the weapons of choice in most of these mass murders?

Answer this first...

I think first you would have to provide support for your assertion that this is the weapon of choice for mass murders. I'm aware of MANY multiple killings where other weapons have been used.

Even so, what is your point? There will always be a weapon that is used more than others... Until that too is banned. England is now down to looking at banning "long kitchen knives" because of how many stabbing are done with those. I don't know what they will be left with to carve a turkey in the future.

Are you aware that more people are killed by shotguns than rifles? Not just "assault rifles", but rifles of all types. Are you aware that more people are killed with hands and feet that shotguns and rifles combined? Far more people are killed with the lowly revolver than "assault rifles". Clearly, "assault rifles" are not the problem. This is like trying to solve the problem of people speeding at 120 MPH by banning minivans simply because a single minivan with a capacity load crashing at such speeds will kill more people than a Corvette.

1 Treat the Mentally ill
2 Stop the liberal policys that have destroyed the Family and chased fathers out of the home.
3 Gun free zones are death traps.
4 The Ar 15 M1A M1 Garand etc are competed with in the CMP matchs and the national rifle championships. They were made popular as a result of the Demonrats In acting the GCA of 1968. The real bill started as a trade protection bill to allow post WW2 US companies to compete with SMLES K98s etc that were being dumped on the US market as FN Fal etc were being adopted by NATO.
What happend next was the Demonrats tried to disarm the black citizens ( Read up on DixieCrats KKK etc and the Dingle commission) That Cry was Saturday Night Special Cheap handguns owned but minoritys. ( also Look up Mayor Daleys Father He bombed Black parts of Chicago with Police Helos 100s Died)
Short Version Gun Banners promoted the Ar 15 into the mainstream. Same situation happened with vehicles no station wagons large cars begot SUVS etc.
5. Enforce the laws on the Books now Dave Gregory off to jail asap!
6. Stop the revolving doors on Jails Criminal Justice System has become a Cash Cow for lawyers and a way to get more Union Cops equipt etc into local Police depts.
7 Clean up the Schools and teaching profession, the School system has been a mess since the 60s in most of the country some areas failed before that Schools are not a social experiment for the Left. Bill Ayers needs to be banned from any contact and or influence in education.
9. Enforce the Constitution as written. FDR's Commerce Clause created during the depression has done serious damage to the country.
If you want citations I can supply them read the text of the original editions of any source materials.

It's been addressed. It's a false assertion that there is any trend to use these weapons for killings. They have only been focused on in the very few situations where they have been used.

Could you please list the the uses of these types of guns? Bushmaster, etc?

Hunting. Target shooting. Plinking. Self defense.

"Why is the Bushmaster...."

It's not. You've been lied to. Answer your Question?

Kenm123t has some valid points. While the Webster NY Christmas Ambush was NOT in a gun free zone, the Ex-Con convicted murderer was.

Repeal the CGA of 1938/1968.

It's the same wording in the German and American Versions. For the same reasons.
To disarm that uppity minority the Administration plans to exploit. One of those seriously scary cases of History Rhyming.

It's not like they didn't know what they were doing when they copied the text of the laws that led to Crystalnacht.
