I wonder if he gave himself a reckless driving ticket. Good thing he was wearing a full face helmet.

LOL the top comment:

My mom said I could only get a motorcycle the day pigs fly. Guess I'm getting a bike!

I bet he regrets not going ATGATT. Or at least some gloves. Road rashed palms hinder most things in life. Scar tissue in the palms sucks too.

Glad he's okay, hope he gets in trouble for driving unnecessarily fast.

Do you think he may have been on the front brake when he hit the bump? Doing an endo like that sure indicates it.

I had a friend that was carrying his 10yr.-old son on the back of a Gold Wing one night. They came upon a car on the other side of the road with one headlight out. As he was approaching he was trying to figure out what was going on when all of a sudden it came to him...deer hit!

He looked forward and there it was, laying in his lane. Before he could react he hit it. He said when the bike landed it shimmied some but stayed upright.

He turned around and came back and the sheriff showed up a few minutes later. The officer couldn't believe that he ran over the deer and didn't crash.

In our discussion I told him that it was probably a good thing that he didn't see it because he probably would have been braking and then would have endoed. I also said that it was a good thing he had a tall back on the bike or he surely would have chucked his son off the back.

Most bikes have a lot more front suspension travel and control than rear. Given my dirt bike experience, the rear suspension bottomed out and the whole thing 'pogoed' up and over. Only real chance of saving the thing would be if the rider had stood up and used his legs as additional shock absorbers. That would also require him seeing the speed bump in time to take action.

yeah stood up and had his weight back. Almost looked like he rolled on the throttle as his back tire was going over the bump. What a dumb a**
I love hopping speed bumps with my ULY : )
and there is so much weight on the front end of the ultra even a little squeeze of the front brake while stopping normally you can feel the front end dive. If I bought an Ultra, I would have stronger springs and further suspension upgrade to it before I took delivery of it.

I think he was screwed regardless at that speed. At least he got the guys behind him slowed down.

If he was part of a motorcade they have to haul to block intersections ahead of the other vehicles.

Am I the only one who is more concerned that he was ok vs some of the other comments on here? Guy messed up, we can all agree on that, but man, some of you are harsh.

I'm with Ryan. Guy is probably off work, probably pretty broken up. I am sorry it happened, especially to a guy who puts it on the line for a living.

Oouch that's gone be a bad deal forever! Sitting down + any bump(s) on motorcycle = a bad day! man he's gonna catch flack for that for life. I hit a bump at high speed in a tight tuck and about got instantly ejected from the bike. Danger BUMPS!

Froggy - talk to your boy Tom, he's the one throwing hateful speech around, calling names and such.

I'll repeat what I had before - I do not see how someone can assume that he was showing off for the cameras. Or that he was just trying to get workmans comp.

So... Where did the information come from that the guy was showing off for the camera?

I don't see where he was showing off either. Looks like he just didn't slow for a nasty speed bump. Seems like an odd spot for a speed bump BTW, right at a traffic light.

Another bad assumption that some seem to have made is that this was in the US. The comment states it was Mexico City.

Crappiest speed bumps ever...Mexico City. Spent way too much time driving around that city in a previous job and the bumps aren't bumps, they're friggin launch ramps.

A motor patrol officer in Mexico city has the life expectancy of a gnat fart. In law enforcement in Mexico (strike 1), on a bike in Mexico City (strike 2) riding without gear in that city (strike 3).

IIRC, there is a form of Workman's Comp in Mexico but I don't believe it does much.
