Mental garbage? You are experiencing a consciousness shift and vibrational empowerment paralleling the dark side’s efforts to shut everything down and suppress you. An amazing cosmic rift is ripping open fantastic new energies and bringing new life at new levels to our planet and all its living creatures, including flies. Enjoy it!

OK, I admit I've been reading Zen Gardner :-).

Well stated. Oddly enough, some of the nicer flies suggested I write Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Spectating. My response was it's more likely to be Solitude and the Long Distance Rider, a diatribe on blending nature and God, not a blending of metaphysical pain as a substitute for anything but beauty is truth, and vice versa.

"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times." That's the opening sentence of Charles Dickens' bestselling novel A Tale of Two Cities. The author was describing the period of the French Revolution in the late 18th century, but he could just as well have been talking about our time -- or any other time, for that matter. Of course many modern cynics reject the idea that our era is the best of times. They obsess on the idea that ours is the worst of all the worst times that have ever been. When your worried mind is in control of you, you may even think that thought yourself, Gemini. But in accordance with the current astrological omens, I challenge you to be a fiery rebel: Come up with at least five reasons why this is the best of times for you personally.

Assume that your drive to experience pleasure isn't a barrier to your spiritual growth, but is in fact essential to it. Proceed on the hypothesis that cultivating joy can make you a more ethical and compassionate person. Imagine that feeling good has something important to teach you every day. For inspiration in practicing this approach, tune in to your EXPANDED AUDIO HOROSCOPE."

Truth is beauty, beauty is truth, that is all ye know and all ye need to know. ~Keats

As a pre-apocalyptic neo-bohemian, I itch at the concensus reality of the great hordes. BUT, when I venture west, leave the flatlands at the Colorado or Wyoming border, my surroundings do a paradim shift into 3 demensions from the Midwest's 2.

Living one's life backward worked well for me from my perch in the back of the bus carrying me through life. Essentially going on vacation the day I graduated high school to eventually settle into the quagmire of mundanity about, uh, age 47. Work is now a vacation, a vacation w/ wife & spawn is work, God bless 'em.

Still, my final connection to any reality with which I am in agreement is with a higher power to whom I am also in agreement, from a Old Testament overlapping into the New Testament fashion that applies to me, not to be pushed on others.

One lives in a reality of their own or someone else's making. I like mine.

Jim never learned to read and write. When he got old enough to get a job, he had difficulty locating one. No one had a need for someone who was illiterate.

In his frustration, he thought surely the church will take me in. Maybe they have something I could do for them. So he applied for the janitor's position at the First Baptist Church. He went in for an interview and the pastor was very nice. They talked for a few minutes before discussing the job itself.

"Jim, you seem like a great guy. I really like you. However, you not being able to read or write is going to be a problem. I'm sorry, but we can only hire someone that is literate for this position."

"I understand," said Jim. Silently, he was devastated. Even the church couldn't help him? What would he do now?

Jim was always the type to land on his feet, so he was not about to give up yet. He got the idea to open a fruit stand in town. He only had the finest fruits and vegetables at his stand and took great pride in customer service.

After a few months, his fruit stand was a success! He was so happy that he decided to open a second fruit stand. This one also became successful. After the first two stands, he expanded again and again. Within a few years his fruit stands were the most successful fruit stands in the entire state. Jim had become very wealthy and successful with fruit.

One day Jim met with a prospective buyer who was interested in his business. The buyer offered Jim a substantial amount of money for the business and Jim was interested. The buyer handed Jim a legal document and told him to look it over and see if he liked the terms. Jim took the document and looked at the gentleman.

"Sir, you're going to have to summarize this for me. I never learned to read or write."

The man looked at Jim in disbelief.

"You've got to be kidding me. You built this entire fruit empire without being able to read or write? How is this possible? Do you have any idea where you would be today if you had learned to read?"

"Yes. I'd be the janitor at the First Baptist Church!"

Took a mt bike ride in the hills, panting like a dying horse with the cold and altitude; but the ride down was glorious, fast, beautiful and dangerous; I didn't see God , but I think I reached his voice mail.

Life is good, bad, indifferent, neutral, or up through the gears. If City is up in the Olympic Range, I'll toss in a cheap aside, "You didn't create those bike trails, someone else did." As to the creation of the Olympics, it weren' no pagan king.

My inner imp is out of control as well.

“Should I keep back my opinions at such a time, through fear of giving offense, I should consider myself as guilty of treason towards my country, and of an act of disloyalty toward the Majesty of Heaven, which I revere above all earthly kings.”
Patrick Henry, March 23, 1775

Standing Up

By Michael Youssef, Ph.D.

Gideon’s family was Jewish, but they were up to their eyeballs with Baal. The Jews never pushed Yahweh out completely, they just took Him out of the center of their lives. They pushed Him to the periphery. Much like so many people who call themselves Christians, Jesus is not at the center; He is at the periphery. Everything else occupies their minds; everything else occupies their time; everything else is occupies their pocketbook, but Jesus is still part of their lives—He’s just out on the periphery. That’s how it was with Gideon’s family.

Things got so bad that they were so knee-deep in compromise that they were not even aware of it. They were knee-deep in apostasy, but they did not know it. They were oblivious to it. They had developed amnesia about the importance of the centrality of Yahweh in their lives. They forgot all about the hand of God that blessed them through the years.

In fact, Gideon’s father stooped so low that he became a priest of Baal. In order for Gideon to challenge Baal as God asked him to do, he had to defy his father, his family, his neighbors, and the surrounding culture.

In other words, Gideon had to stand up and be counted. He had to swim against the current of culture. He had to stand against the flood of society.

Are you willing to stand up and be counted today?

Prayer: God, help me to have the courage that Gideon had. Help me to be willing to stand up for You, even if it means going against everyone around me. Help me to be mindful and to keep You at the center of my life always. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

“If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all” (Isaiah 7:9).

"The judgment of God against this nation will not be turned by a more conservative President, but by the repentance of its people. The church's task for the next 4 yrs is the same as the last 2000 yrs - Preach the Gospel to every creature and live it out before them." - Paul Washer

This guy grew up in Liberia as a mission kid, having to leave when the civil wars started. He sees things as they are, through the layers of the onion. He'a been back, his parents are eventually moving back to Liberia. Some good videos somewhere on his blog. Something to ponder when one needs it. Posting the link saves me from writing one of my dissaffected diatribes from the cheap seats overlooking the other side of the world.
