Anyone waiting on an M&P Shield? Been waiting for mine for 4 months now...bought and paid for.
One of the guys behind the counter at our LGS has a lightly-used Shield in 9mm for sale.
I put a quick ten rounds of 124 gr. Hydra-Shok thru it yesterday (Denise and I had just finished exercising several of our sidearms) and liked it a lot, but he wants $500 for it.
I have a Ruger P89 and Colt 45 1911. Looking at a Ruger Gp 100 357 for my first revolver in 10 years. Had a Ruger 357 single action 6 " barrel for a while and a Taurus 38 special as well. Gonna check out the grip and weight at my gun range this week. should be fun.
I want to get a shield for the wife but no one has any.
If you're looking for 9mm, Scott at ProShots in Rural Hall, North Carolina has one for $500, as mentioned above. The price is high, but if ya gotta have it now...
They also had a lightly-used Shield in .40 on consignment several weeks ago; not sure if it's still in inventory or not.
You'd have to pay shipping to your FFL, and the transfer fee, but it's all doable, just a function of money.
Ruger LCR .38 Special, weighs in at a feathery 13 ounces with laser option (the LCR .22 LR is shown). A little snappy with +P loads but very accurate at social distances, and hides virtually anywhere.
I am right with Fb1 on the Ruger LCR in 38 over any other compact revolver. The trigger is great, fits my hand better than any others, and points and shoots naturally.
I much prefer my S&W revolvers in the larger frames, but Ruger nail this gem! I will get another one if it ever comes out 327 FedMag.
Thanks for the good link on the write-up, I have not seen that one!
I have used some Rem 130g fmj and some American Eagle 158G lead and started working on some 158g Berry Bullet handloads. All shot well, that is, I did not measure any groups but I was able to place shots on a IDPA style target well. I did not see any issues (key-hole) with any loads so far.
I concur with the reasonable recoil that the article reported. I also am glad they shot and rated the Speer GD 135g ammo well because that is what I had singled out as my choice for a PD loading. Have not shot any yet because I can not find it locally and will have to go to the web to get some.
Today, revolvers are looked down upon by many. I would say to those who are open to a little old school, done modern, the Ruger LCR is must have for the well-rounded firearm enthusiast. I would suggest that history will show that this is a jewel of a small CCW revolver. That is from a S&W revolver fan even though I do prefer Ruger SA.
You're welcome. We've been running Hydra-Shoks in our sidearms, mostly, for no particular good reason other than I dig the name and respect the manufacturer. Still have some left, but it's going fast. Everything is loaded up with Speer Gold Dots now; these rounds seem universally praised, by civilians and LEO types alike.
The LCR is fun to shoot. Heck, they're ALL fun to shoot.
Here's some more interesting reading (including ballistic gel pix and expansion pix of several popular carry loads), particularly for M&P and Glock fans:

Here are the stable-mates of the Ruger, a 629-1 and 67 no dash. I got them all used but not abused. SA trigger on both the Smiths is amazing. Sorry for the marginal pic.

Nothing like a good breakfast with a few "friends."
My final purchase will be a 338LM or 300 Win Mag bolt gun. I used to have a 50 BMG but it was a bit much. It was great fun but I want something I can actually lug around.

We have a 40 person waiting list. I've heard that S&W is going to be using the Shield trigger in all their new M&P's.
40-deep for the Shield? Wow. I'm not a huge fan of the stock triggers on my M&P's - they work, but I know they can be better (via Apex). The Shield I shot last Sunday was much nicer in that regard. Neat little pistol.
hickok45 is always a hoot:

We've got an interesting little gun here, a recent offering from Kel-Tec....I think, if I'm not mistaken, that's probably the only university that makes firearms...

Demand for the PMR quickly outpaced supply, and many people were left waiting. They had no idea the gun would be that popular. They've made some improvements and production has been ramped up. So they say.

I bought a LC9 Ruger a couple months ago and have shot about 400 rounds with it so far. Easy to shoot for a small gun,I kicked around what CC gun to get for months and went with the LC9. Bought one of those practice balls you throw on the ground and am hitting that pretty damn consistantly.

My favorite is the titanium tips for the radome of the AAMRAM. Special fire extinguishers on site to deal with ti fires. As a CNC machinist guns are a fascination.

They said the KSG was fast tricked into production too. LOL

As FB already noted.
I really ought to refresh the page before posting yesterday's thoughts.
Went to my first ever gun show this past Saturday. By far the most comfortable pistol was the Smith & Wesson M&P. Seemed like it was made for my hand. Dry firing was not allowed, so I can't comment on the trigger. Sounds like new production may get an improved version?
